  1. I’ll go out on a limb and say that of the two, Boyd will be the better pitcher. Go ahead and pin this post and then try to come at me at the end of the season.
  2. Oh sure, if there’s anything this team needs, it’s to keep that over 5.0 BB/9 from Soto. That’s certainly a benefit to any bullpen.
  3. Yeah, if 3B hadn't been shut down completely for Torkelson, I'd say go with he at 3B and Hosmer at 1B for next season. If Torkelson plays well at 3B, that's a bonus going forward. His future is based off of the bat, so if that fails, 3B or 1B doesn't matter.
  4. I think one thing we can say about Chris Ilitch is that maybe he inherited the loyalty blinders that Mike Ilitch wore during the Randy Smith era. He finally pulled the plug, thankfully. We don't know whether Scott Harris will be successful. There was optimism when Dave Dombrowski was brought in because he had success on his resume. At the very least, Harris has a different perspective as an outsider to the organization. He has made some moves among the staff that were necessary (hitting coaching) and probably necessary (training staff, pitching coach with extensive kinesiology experience). His stated motive of controlling the strike zone from both sides of the inning and how pitching counts can potentially dictate results makes sense.
  5. IF the Tigers had the plan to start Torkelson in AAA, I could see this. Hosmer is minimum salary, might be able to handle most of Baez' throws, and hit better last season than all Tigers not named Haase and Carpenter.
  6. You can pretend that you're hiding for 5 years, but we see you watching.
  7. No, I found them. They happened before the teals. It was the Bad Boys era kits, but the blue body and red accents were exchanged for red body and blue accents. https://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/n3y6c3pd1eqakesi0vf8ewl49/Detroit_Pistons/1995/Alternate_Uniform sportslogo.net can be such a fun time kill.
  8. It is absolutely essential for the aisle seats to box these scallywags out like they’re getting ready to rebound a basketball. And if needed, toss in a Rick Mahorn elbow. I think we should also add window seat passengers that wait to be the last to enter into the plane, forcing the 2 or 3 aisle middle seats to get back out of their seats and into the spacious aisle, and then of course this twit realizes once the sit down that they need to put something in the overhead, so they get back out of the seat and of course need to ….. I’ll just stop and say plane travel thoroughly annoys me.
  9. Didn't they have alt reds in the early/mid 90s? I do like those. Roll with the whites, blues, and reds, and the simplicity of those 3 are just fine, thank you.
  10. I thought it was "if you have two shortstops, you don't have enough"? Or maybe that's for quarterbacks? I don't know, I get confused easily.
  11. There was a lot of teal to be witness to, but I guess since your avatar has teal shades, you've been preconditioned to it. I do remember shots with a red Piston jersey that stood out close to the floor. Maybe that was you.
  12. I kinda wanna see the Padres sign Dansby Swanson.
  13. You know, it seems like toy manufacturers missed out on the Catholic school nun action figure market. They could come with boxing gloves as a default I suppose. But then you also sell rulers and coffee mugs and chalk and chalkboard erasers and books as additional weapons for separate purchase.
  14. Yes, it does seem cheap. But, along with inflation, add in the growth of the game over time from then to now. Tickets for tonight range from $14/each to $2,250 for a pair along the baseline (where if you are lucky, Drunk Uncle Tom Gores might spill a drink on you..... if he shows up). Such a primitive box score then:
  15. Buyer beware? There's been ample warning of FraudyFive. Maybe listen and think a little more next time.
  16. That's good stuff. I never thought to check the box score.
  17. They definitely don't need another LHH OF, at least in terms of quantity. But he would bring the versatility of 2B and LHH IF was on the wish list, so OK, that'd be nice. Schoop's bat may bounce back next year. I have doubts that he can retain this defensive mastery that seems to have been bestowed upon him. I think that's a bit of a product of the shift vs LHHs. He's got the glove and the arm. The range might be exposed with no shifts. Regardless, they still need to figure out long term solutions for 2B & 3B and short term for at least one of them (assuming Schoop handles one or the other in 2023).
  18. Sacramento Kings vs Detroit Pistons
  19. Maybe he was blindfolded?
  20. Trumpble gum cards? Do they come with the tasteless sliver of bubble gum, too?
  21. Egads,...... his AAA numbers are horrific. I guess that explains the 21 SOs and 1 BB in his 41 PA MLB debut.
  22. Excuse me, that's "idiotnets".
  23. So what happened in the summer? Was he tipping pitches and giving up hard contact which would help explain the BABIP? I hate to assume Fetter can fix anything or create a pitcher out of nothing. At the same time, he's done some good work. I think this is worth a try. The SO/BB isn't exactly what is desired. But this move intrigues me.
  24. Can't be many of those over the last two decades.
  25. Precisely. If the younger hitters can rebound/mature, if the pitchers can stay healthy, if they can polish up a high level minor leaguer or 3 that could be ready for 2024.....
