  1. What was the original design?
  2. Yes. They're also bad on the road.
  3. Zipper merge might as well be political fodder.
  4. Throw lots of green dead president fudge at Judge?
  5. The house that Higgy built.
  6. Houston Astros (92-50) at Detroit Tigers (54-88)
  7. He’s had a few highlights out there this season.
  8. This will be his 15th game start of the season, tying him with Brieske. Only Skubal has more games started (21). Alexander and Rodriguez are right behind (13). He is also 2nd on the team in IP with 86. Skubal tops the team with 117 2/3. Brieske (81 2/3), Alexander (77 1/3), and Rodriguez (66) are next in line. How this team closer to lastest in runs allowed is an absolute freaking miracle.
  9. "What took you so long, Skip?!"
  10. Oh, they can change the fences. But without contact, without solidly barreling up the ball on the screws, it ain't gonna go out in a bandbox with the way this team approaches offense. I don't know if its an available stat, but along with below average SO% and BB%, I would bet that average exit velocity for the Tigers is well below league average. One more item: A Bake McBride reference? Hat tip.
  11. Fly balls and wall dimensions are one thing. But higher than average SO% (24.1% vs 22.2% league average) and lower than average BB% (6.2% vs 8.2% league average) indicates problems just getting the bat on the ball.
  12. Are you referring to the contract buyout? I did hear about this in more detail yesterday. So, it was, what $15M that Nebraska would owe Frost if this occurred before October and only $7.5M if he were fired after September? So, yeah, Nebraska did the right thing here by just getting it over with now.
  13. Happy Hutchday, morans.
  14. Houston Astros (91-50) at Detroit Tigers (54-87)
  15. Giants, Wilmer Flores Agree To Two-Year Extension So much for that idea.
  16. Houston Astros (90-50) at Detroit Tigers (54-86)
  17. Seems reasonable, but I think you have to include Cabrera at this point. Now, how many PAs he gets, I don’t know how you factor that. Call it 400, 2 out of 3 days? Assume he gets day games after night games off for the most part? That’s one or two a week. I guess the issue there is that increases the PAs for the bench, which ideally would be limited as you mentioned. But that’s just where they are right now. I think Cabrera factors in next season until he doesn’t. In other words, don’t assume he’s gone until he is, either by retirement or “retirement”. I think that’s the conservative approach to take.
  18. Take it and hope he adds to it.
  19. It seems odd to me that he’d be fired before September is over. I get that losing this weekend is bad, but if the situation was that close to it’s tipping point, it seems like a new coaching staff should have been assembled after last season.
  20. Well, two out of three in Kansas City was fun.
  21. Same. It’s kind of a shame it’s worked out this way for Frost, and really for Nebraska in the B10.
  22. Divisions are pointless for college football now. Maybe it helps with travel for the MAC or a conference like that. But what does divisional alignment do for the B10 at this point?
  23. Patience. Norris might be tossing multiple innings before this game is done.
  24. The Tigers have 3 left hitting OFs that really aren't too good defensively and another lefty hitting OF that might be miscast in CF (although this is the least of the issues). Ideally Cabrera retires, Meadows can be the DH, and then if LF is decided among incumbents, one of Baddoo/Carpenter is in Detroit and the other is in Toledo. Or even more ideally the GM has better plans for the offense.
  25. It's probably a very remote possibility. I know Jim Eisenreich walked away and came back.
