  1. Alex invented the Cobb salad.
  2. So are you giving him a contract for life? What about Andy Ibanez?
  3. I picked the wrong line of work.
  4. Why not? Defense is questionable. They’re extremely reluctant to use him vs LHP. If the return is greater than Carpenter and/or addresses an area of weakness, why not trade him?
  5. Dr J still dunks once on his birthday. He’s said it’s not the the dunk that hurts, it’s the landing.
  6. I wouldn’t be against it, per se. But what is the OF/DH alignment? What becomes of 3B? Vierling? Or why not acquire both Kim and Suzuki and maybe Carpenter is moved for prospects?
  7. It certainly has more brand recognition than the bottom half. Can’t imagine the TV magnates would be happy with SMU and Indiana advancing to the New Year’s Eve/Day round. if they were to rerack the same teams purely by ranking: (12) Clemson at (5) Notre Dame, then vs (4) Penn State. (9) Boise State at (8) Indiana, then vs (1) Oregon. (10) SMU at (7) Tennessee, then vs (2) Georgia. (11) Arizona State at (6) Ohio State, then vs (3) Texas. I tend to think that’s the way it should be, although again I’d rerack the second round so the worst remaining seed faces Oregon, then next worst remaining seed faces Georgia, and so on.
  8. I’ll take some credit for this victory. I walked by MSG a couple of weeks ago and I was wearing my Detroit (Tigers) hat. You’re all welcome.
  9. Did you put “MTF regular” on your resume?
  10. You can’t message him on LinkedIn?
  11. Nobody likes numbers, but I think they need to put together a computer model to add some semblance of objectivity to ranking teams for this playoff bracket. If you want to give out automatics to conferences, fine. But that shouldn’t be a precursor to a first round bye. And rerack these teams after every round. If 12 defeats 5, 1 should get them in the next round. Kind of like how the NFL works it’s playoff.
  12. They joined with Arizona, right? At the time, what other conference would have invited them? Old SWC? Old Big 8?
  13. The list of 2024 Tiger hitters with an OBP above .320 that also played on the IF is as follows: Mark Canha, Bligh Madris, and Jace Jung. That’s it, that’s the list. So if you want to look at just that aspect of his game, it’s an improvement over last season before factoring in the defense. I think he’s a good buy low candidate that is a solid hitter that can extend a lineup, and his base running/stealing is something that the Tigers could also use. He’s not Bregman or Adames as an overall talent. That’s fine. And I understand he may not be 100% to start the season. That’s fine. Give him a 2 year prove it deal which shouldn’t break the bank and it would allow to use capital for other needs. If he can put up his floor in 2025 and his ceiling in 2026, that buys a little time for Jung to get his stuff together in Toledo. He also becomes a viable RHH SS candidate if/when the Tigers cut bait on Baez.
  14. Indeed. Make it happen.
  15. I fully expect Alabama to be included in the playoffs and that they will bitch and moan about not getting a home game.
  16. I’m not sure neon white is an actual color decipherable by human eyes, but I don’t know how else to describe Rex Ryan’s teeth.
  17. Everybody talking Alabama or SMU for the final spot and I’m over here looking at PAC12 champion Washington State as the real invitee.
  18. Somewhat loosely combing these two, it wasn’t all that long ago that things such as getting the shelf elf out at Thanksgiving and making sure she moved around every night after the kids went bed was somewhat stressful. This was especially the case when the task was forgotten at night and suddenly realized the next morning when I heard them rustling around as the woke up. But mandatory holiday show viewing has gone away here. No Charlie Brown Halloween or Thanksgiving specials the past couple of years and no mention of upcoming Christmas cartoons.
  19. The only thing I would add to the lineup discussion is keeping 2 of Cunningham/Ivey/Beasley on the court at all competitive times.
  20. My uneducated opinion is that Cunningham has definitely stepped it up this season. Yes, the turnovers are still an issue. But the overall improvement seems t9 be there.
  21. Will it be an open casket viewing and ceremony? How many clothing changes and suit/shirt/tie combinations do you think he has spelled out in his will?
  22. ASU coach Dillignham (sp?) brought his brass sack with him today. 4th and inches at their own 35 and he dials up a deep pass (with some YAC afterwards) to get deep into the red zone.
  23. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t think we’ve seen enough of Harris to say he’s an exact anti-Dombrowski. We’ve seen them both come into dumpster fire situations and they have tried to clean up in different ways, I think that’s a fair assessment. But once they get to a level of success, how will they try to sustain? Is this off-season for Harris akin to Dombrowski’s 2006-2007 off-season? I think this past season had more expectations than 2006, but at the same time, they are both coming off of postseasons and I’m not sure there’s a consensus on what this team is to do this off-season. One thing to add is both teams have a top flight manager at the helm. Maybe this supporting staff is a bit better than the former collection? Certainly the public personas of the field captains are different from one another.
  24. I have many ideas. Most of them are probably garbage. But I have ideas.
  25. Or how about the Golden Batter has to take the at bat in the team’s mascot costume?
