  1. That's outrageous. My wife has a rare neurological condition that compromises lung function. This has been going on for 2 years, she has been hospitalized about 5 times for several days at a time, and has had a couple of different intravenous therapies, several times each, and the cost of these is tens of thousands of dollars. She is now approved for an experimental therapy that would cost hundreds of thousands. If we lived in the United States, we would have had to sell our house. That's absolutely true, no exaggeration. But, it has not cost us anything, except ten bucks here and there for pharmacy fees. We don't have private insurance, don't need it. I can pay the dentist and the optometrist by myself. You need to put a stop to this bullshit but here is your problem, the pitchman is Bernie Sanders whose personal brand requires him to present health care as wildly far-left socialist democracy when, in the rest of the civilized world without exception, it is the most centrist position that a politician could adopt. He dooms it to failure all by himself, because his brand is so important.
  2. Bitcoin is as predictable as a balloon the instant you untie the stem.
  3. I think that that is more than coincidence.
  4. Theroundsquare, good show!
  5. I was looking at Trayce Thompson's career a couple of days ago and for most of the time since 2012 he was pretty useless, but then at age 28 started to hit a little bit with some power. That was 2019, didn't play 2020, and continued his sudden transformation in 2021 and 2022. I don't understand why the Tigers acquired him, he was never going to get a callup and the team had plenty of AAA outfielders already.
  6. Yes, Willi isn't a good enough hitter to play the outfield, especially the way that he plays it. He is a .620 OPS guy, marginally higher at the moment, and that mysterious interlude of 2019 - 2020 where he could actually hit is disappearing quickly in the rear view mirror. You can't have a .620 guy in the outfield unless he is Gary Pettis.
  7. This is correct. Governments will always be able to buy jobs with tax breaks, and corporate carpetbaggers will always accept them. Ireland tried this in the 1980's, they offered a 10 year tax holiday and some other incentives, and a lot of multinationals established new operations there. When the 10 years were up, everybody left, almost overnight.
  8. I want to hear more about this for sure. Cutting out the insurers is a strong move.
  9. Here is something that I have noticed...everyone in the world except me makes a lot of noise when they are chewing.
  10. Yeah I think he's 6 for 26 or something like that since his return to Toledo, which is gradual improvement.
  11. Baddoo with a BB and an SB last night, I think that's 7 BB in 8 games.
  12. I don't know if Chris cares about the product but if he does, does he feel some dread about having to let this guy go "who was so loyal to my Dad"?
  13. Not all of us!
  14. I want a R/R first baseman who hits 7th for his high school team.
  15. He fills a need, a vacancy that currently exists: "a player that I am interested in".
  16. I feel like he filled out a lineup card with Bregman, Altuve, Correa, Gurriel, Springer and Marwan G. And only won one World Series with that loaded team, much like Sparky here in the '80's. The cheating never bothered me but what is telling is the contempt that the players showed for him, by refusing to stop when he told them to. And after his teams' performance the past 2 years I think his agent should be putting out feelers to the top university programs, pick one, and become one of those legendary 30 year coaches. Because he'll never work in the majors again.
  17. Well, there it is again, the friendly disagreement about Hinch's market value, in which some people think he could actually get another job if he were to quit this one.
  18. I noticed that too - 1-for-3 with a walk the night before, and then he doesn't play.
  19. John Oliver says that Spiro Agnew is an anagram for Grow A Penis.
  20. Too factual.
  21. Yes his OPS is in the .700s now, used to be in the .400s, so he's been doing better
  22. I continue to be mystified by the idea that somehow Hinch is qualified to be a GM. There isn't a shred of evidence to support it.
  23. Good thoughts and I too would not fire him now, what's the point, but I would do it on November 1 for sure, along with Hinch and the entire coaching staff, yes Fetters and Lombard, they are welcome to re-apply to the new GM. Never happen, Chris isn't interested in W/L.
  24. They wanted him but not at Lindor money, that's crazy, he doesn't play often enough.
