  1. But he bypassed those two pretty effectively though, at least from appearances sake...
  2. I have both points of agreement and points of disagreement with this sentiment. Points of agreement: 1) I definitely think the bar has moved up to: How can we win a Super Bowl or 3? I mean, we haven't even won a single playoff game since 1991... but I don't care. I think we're there. 2) I agree that we are probably around 3rd best or so in the NFC; and then we'll have to face most likely a locked and loaded AFC opponent, if we are so lucky as to make it all the way to the SB... I raised this issue after we got crushed by the Ravens. The question was: What are we missing to help us get past the behemoth's of the NFL? 3) I'm in agreement with some of the pieces we are missing: A shutdown CB would be huge for this defense, and needed; and a speed rusher that can close on the QB is also a huge need. I agree we need more than just Hutch. Aside from that, there's always depth guys that can help (like an interior O-Lineman after all our injuries, another WR since Jamo hasn't gotten there yet (and Holmes landed on DPJ for that), a better placekicker if available, and... a long-snapper?!?!). If the price is right. Points of disagreement: 1) And therein lies the rub. I think we are currently arguing over cost/ value. Or Cost-Benefit. 2) If we can't sign Sweat or Young to extensions; there is MORE value in letting Holmes make those picks then losing them for those players. IMO. Before that even: it appears Young would be a terrible culture fit with the Lions: he'd be a wasted draft pick if that is all true and he underperformed badly this season. But the key point to me is: MUST we SELL OUT to get Sweat or Young, THIS YEAR? I believe the answer to that question isno, for several reasons: Starting with: Young and Sweat are NOT all that. Young has health and attitude and scheme-responsible issues. NO THANKS. Sweat is an above-average DE. Great, he would probably improve the team some. But he's not a lethal speed rusher. He's not much different than Hutch. If I'm selling out (1st round draft pick(s), I'm hunting Patrick Surtain II (shutting down an opponent's top receiver), or a pass-rusher that is younger, will stay with the team longer, and more consistently gets to the QB than Sweat. I actually suggested Sweat earlier in the season (a few weeks ago) but I was thinking 3rd rounder or later. To beat his actual trade price? I want Brian Burns or Maxx Crosby... who both ended up not getting traded. I'd rather Holmes use our draft picks to find better, longer term players for the Lions than Sweat or Young. And do we need to push for one of those deals THIS YEAR? That seems to be the urgency of a few in here... But... whilst I believe our Super Bowl window is just starting to open... I don't believe panic moves are needed just yet. And I think Sweat/ Young, at their draft pick cost and future commitment to this team, are panic moves. I am perfectly fine seeing how far we get in the playoffs this year; how far our current cast of characters grows this year (jam-packed with young kids who are still improving/ getting through learning curves). And making adjustments this offseason, including draft, trades, FA signings. I do NOT believe it was worth it to better/beat the trades for either of those two guys. Just my 2 cents. OK... that was $2.98
  3. I'll do you one better: Dear NFL Teams START HIRING EAGLES AND RAVENS ASSISTANTS And maybe Cowboys and 49'ers assistants too, because those guys are REALLY, REALLY GOOD! Those are the best coaches to hire.. So HURRY UP and GET one of them! Move FAST! Get one of them NOW! Before another team does...! I mean, you don't want to lose out... so HURRY and Hire a Ravens/ Eagles/ Cowboys/ or 49'ers coach... You certainly would NOT want to ever, ever, hire a Lions coach...
  4. Another nearby bad choices election results: Venezuelans VOTED for Hugo Chavez and then VOTED for Nicholas Madura. What did the country look like prior to Chavez? What does it look like right now?
  5. And Hitlerism/ Nazism/ Fascism/ Trumpism were all plagues that needed to be defeated. I believe the Theo-Fascist Dictatorship in Iran also needs to be defeated. I believe the Palestinians deserve a state of their own, dignity, and a chance to lead normal lives. But Hamas is a terrorist organization hell-bent on murder. They also need to be defeated. At a high cost, based on their methodology (embedding themselves within Gazan civilians and civilian infrastructure in order to create maximum Gazan casualties to "paintbrush" the Israelis as "bad guys"). But they must be defeated nonetheless. Even at a high cost. And I am not advocating the high cost. I am stating that it is unavoidable. Based on Hamas' philosophy.
  6. One further point: Gazans VOTED for Hamas. Hamas won an election over Fatah because Gazans WANTED Hamas leadership. I'm not saying Fatah is more desirable to the Gazans... there was many reasons they preferred Hamas... But I would make a recommendation: Maybe, next time, don't vote for Hamas.
  7. What are you saying here? Is Israel the bad guys now by trying to protect their citizens from further murders/ barbaric acts of terrorism? Let me restate this: Osama Bin Laden and his followers are certainly the bad guys in this conflict but that doesn't automatically make America the good guys. That makes LOTS of sense, right? Let me make one additional statement: Hamas WANTS Palestinian casualties, women and children. Simply so they can win the propaganda war against Israel. They BUILT tunnels underneath refugee camps, hospitals, etc. They hide AMONGST their fellow Palestinians and shoot rockets at Israeli forces FROM hospitals, camps, etc. Israel has no choice but to eliminate Hamas. And since Hamas is EMBEDDED in every aspect/ location of Palestinian life, Israel has no choice but to inflict civilian casualties, WHILE trying to hunt down Hamas murderers and terrorists. Yes, they ARE the good guys. But Hamas has NO PROBLEM SACRIFICING Palestinians in an effort to paintbrush the Israelis as "just as terrible" as themselves. But I'm not blind. And I'm not stupid. I see EXACTLY what Hamas is doing. So yes, the Israelis are the good guys in this fight.
  8. DPJ and Reynolds play different positions. So yes, Reynolds will not lose snaps or "Y" receiver targets to DPJ. But DPJ is not only an "X" receiver, which will get whatever snaps/ targets an "X" receiver will get; but he is also a younger, more well-rounded, tougher, more dependable WR than than Reynolds. "Years connection" means jack squat when DPJ gets more targets simply to move the chains (X job) more often than Reynolds gets downfield targets (Y job). I know that's a gross simplification, but that's generally what's going to happen. If Reynolds loses snaps, it won't be to DPJ, it will be to Jamo. This is the 5th time I've said as much... No one is listening? DPJ is "brand new"? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Goff is not allowed to throw the ball to DPJ because he's "brand new"? There's a 60-day waiting period (moratorium?) before Goff is allowed to throw to DPJ? The reasoning in here on Josh Reynolds is getting worse by the minute.
  9. Does this work for you better NY? I'm calling DPJ the #2, from now until the end of the season, he'll get the 2nd most WR targets after ASB. Does "X" work better for you? Reynolds was NOT the X receiver, he was the Y. From now until the end of the season, he'll be 3rd on the target list. If Jamo gets up to speed... it won't be DPJ losing targets, it will be Josh. Or maybe even a little of both as I'm not certain exactly how they'll want to use him... But I think Longgone is correct, Jamo will mostly be a Y... That's what I said originally. I'm not going to change anything I've said. DPJ will get the 2nd most targets as the X receiver (I'm calling that the #2 but... whatever...). DPJ will be the "do-anything/everything" receiver that will be all over the field getting targeted everywhere. Not more than ASB, but 2nd most. So I guess I am saying that not only will DPJ be the X receiver (#2... haha) but that he will ALSO get the 2nd most WR targets, after ASB. Josh will get 3rd most targets as Y receiver (#3 in my book but I seem to be getting overruled here... no worries. And I seem to be doubling up again on both position (#3) AND targets... but I think that will end up being correct).
  10. Past tense. Yes, you are.
  11. My point is that it doesn't take anything to display antisemitism. Any excuse will do. Is there any antisemitism without a war? Why yes, yes there is. In America, Jews are roughly 2.4% of the population. But are the target of roughly 60% of hate crimes. Before the war. Without a war. Hate crimes exploded against Asian-Americans after Trump said "China Flu". People are predisposed towards hatred and will use any excuse to display it.
  12. I do agree with this part... It IS important to know why those expressing hatred are acting out as such. War is a causation that can be fixed: with no war. Pure hatred out of unreasonableness is less preventable or fixable. But back to the war side of it... The U.S. is not going to refrain from war against Japan after Pearl Harbor because of anti-war or anti-American demonstrations. The U.S. is not going to refrain from tracking down criminal mastermind Osama Bin Laden because there will be casualties in Afghanistan, and the subsequent anti-American demonstrations and hatred... Israel has the same right to defend it's citizens against these terrorists. Even though it will cause countless deaths in Gaza, and the subsequent anti-Israel/Jewish/ antisemitic/ antiwar demonstrations. A little of each.
  13. It doesn't matter WHY that happened. Surrounding, heckling, intimidating, impeding a Jewish person... BECAUSE of the war, does not change antisemitism into NOT. Similar to America creating casualties in Afghanistan while they went after Bin Laden. There were Anti-American demonstrations all over the world due to the casualties/ deaths caused by that war. Are you sayin that they were NOT anti-American demonstrations... because it was simply due to the war? That doesn't make sense. Antisemitism is antisemitism, REGARDLESS whether the reason or cause is pure hatred of Jews, sectarianism, war, whatever... Antisemitism is still antisemitism.
  14. Dude... You're the one trying to wriggle out of calling antisemitism antisemitism by splitting hairs/ reaching for justifications to do so.
  15. You're living in the past dude.
  16. Which means he's the #3 guy. I'm not saying he's losing his #3 spot... because Jamo just isn't ready yet. But he's the #3 receiver. "By default" doesn't qualify.
  17. You're trying to "default" Reynolds into the #2 from the lack of a real #2. I'm not giving you an answer on past history. I'm telling you what's going to happen from now until the end of the season.
  18. You are not correct. But... Let's just see what happens on the field. And take it from there...
  19. No... DPJ is going to become the #2. Sort of an Amon-Ra-lite. Josh's highest targets was 80 with the Rams in 2020. 618 yards. His next highest is 59 last year with the Lions, 479 yards; and his numbers look like he'll hit roughly 60 targets this year, but might bust through his highest yardage total as he has 397 so far this year. He's 28 y.o. He's used primarily as a deep threat. DPJ had 96 targets last year and 839 yards. He's 24 y.o. He's used inside/ outside/ deep threat/ short/ intermediate/ tough catches. How exactly is Josh going to be the #2. His familiarity with Goff? Oh wait... he's NOT going to be the #2. Josh will be the #3 deep guy as he's always been with Goff. Not an every-type of catch in the book guy like DPJ. When Jamo gets up to speed; he will first pressure Josh for playing time at the #3 deep threat guy. He should be able to grow into more than that... but he'll first need to beat out Josh with reliability... and he's not there yet. Just my 2 cents.
  20. Wrong answers/ choices. Correct answer: Patrick Surtain II
  21. How is it possible to increase Palestinian hatred, contempt, and antisemitism (wrong word, they are also Semites; try anti-Jewish hatred) towards the Jews? Answer: It's NOT possible. They already want to exterminate all Jews. So: how is it possible to increase hatred, above that?
  22. Holmes has built this team into a playoff-quality team. With talent. Everywhere. All the other whining in here is meaningless.
  23. Lions are expecting James Houston to return... And I think they like Julian Okwara at this point, as a pass-rush specialist... Don't know if they were factoring that in... Just sayin'...
  24. I'd prefer a CB over a pass-rusher, btw.
  25. Yeah, good job buddha! Might be competition for Jamo this year but I think it's eventually Josh Reynolds that loses out. All depends on Jamo and his learning curve (which has admittedly been quite long so far...)
