That looks 99.9% what I would expect for Opening Day lineup. Berggren in Grand Rapids and the other two as the extra guys... Debatable on Soderblum breaking with Detroit but I could see a compelling reason for it (basically, ST's, plus... 3rd or 4th line would seem appropriate). Edvinsson if they break with the best players; o/w Grand Rapids if he needs some smaller rink seasoning. One or both 4th pairing guys as the extra(s) depending on what happens with Edvinsson.

Wasn't Piercey just released?

That too...

I don't know if I would use the word interesting. I think I would use the word "grotesque". As in, there is one grotesque person in this race, who never should have been there. And look at how grotesque the GOP has become to put up and "champion" grotesque candidates like him. And he's not the only one. F'ing grotesque. Him... and the GQP.

Week Four: Seattle Seahawks (1-2) @ Detroit Lions (1-2)
1984Echoes replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I understood what SF said to be exactly this. I don't believe it's some monstrous mistake as SF does, however... I really want Campbell to change his mindset on this. I think it is important. Listen guys... if we have a killer offense and hugely suspect defense then what should we do? Take the ball first and march down the field and score first. Put the pressure on the other team to stay with us. The league (and Campbell's) mentality is ALWAYS to defer to the 2nd half. We need to do the opposite. Score first, fast, and often and put the onus on the other team. And... Probably hold on for dear life starting in the second half as we kick off to the other team. With our lovely defense. But I really want Campbell's famous (infamous?) aggressiveness to include this titanic change in thinking. And do the exact opposite of what everyone else in the league does... I understand SF perfectly... -

He'll be at the backend of the 40 so it will be a tough decision on him. We can all see the negatives... But he's put up some recent good performances... even though there is a good degree of "mirage" in there as Cas has pointed out. -

There's going to be "musical chairs" this offseason so it will be interesting to see who loses their chair. Excuse me... Chairs. Plural. -

The answer is yes. He's going to be given some more run and I think he definitely squeezes onto our winter-2022-23 40-man. I mean maybe they find someone that takes his spot. But there are a lot of other guys that can easily be broomed off the 40 so... I think the last few spots of this year's 40 will be between Garcia and a couple of the "iffy" kids that might deserve a spot and... Garcia will be held onto... Just my 2 cents. -

I see no reason to have Norris, Funk, Cisnero or Hutch on the 40. Norris just doesn't offer enough for a 40 spot, and they already knew that and dumped before because of that. They just needed a bandaid and that's all Norris is at this point. Same with Hutch. I like him. In AAA that is... which they've done the past 3 years and in 2023 it'll be the same as well I think. Not on the 40, have him at Toledo (I think he'll be open to it as there won't be other opportunities that offer anything more so he'll be an Org guy for us)... and as a bandaid for us when everything goes to hell I also like him since, as you pointed out, he keeps the team in the game. But I think he's still a AAA/ AAAA/ 10th starter guy for any team. Not a 40-guy. But we'll see. I don't see however, any reason to save a 40-spot for him. But that's just me. Funk shouldn't be given a 40 spot. He's also a borderline guy, even if we feel he has a little more run/ upside in him... but, coming off an injury, I doubt anyone else is willing to take a 40 chance on him either. Maybe I'm wrong here... but at 29 years old next year... not having all that much MLB track record or showing anything that compelling, and coming off an injury... why would we hold a 40-spot open for him? Cisnero is 33 and it's time with "out with the old, in with the new". Get him off the 40. They may even invite him to ST but then that says he couldn't get a contract... someone will want him. But it's time for the Tigers to move on. Even though he's pitched some decent games for us. Garcia has shown nothing in the way of having enough control. But I think he's the last guy on this list that gets shown the door. He may be bumped off the 40... but I'm going to wait on this one and see if he squeezes for a little while longer. He has a live arm, is the youngest of these 5... we'll see... -

They've had Baddoo leading off the past week or so... So... What is AJ thinking here...? -
I would like that as a proactive action not a reactive response.
-
Just a quick thought: so... the Seattle game has told us nothing we didn't already know... we need to have a very, very heavy defense-laden draft and off-season. Unless a new QB is snuck in there somewhere... but it's my opinion that that should not be the priority. Defense... defense... defense... and last but not least: defense. Oh, and maybe a fast RB, raw but with potential...

No buddha, you had it originally correct: $32 mill 2023. Plus either $30 mill team option in 2024 or the $8 mill buyout. 32 + 8 = 40. -

With an $8 million buyout that is guaranteed. It vests automatically as you say. But with zero chance of vesting, there is still a team option for 2024 OR an $8 million buyout. $32 Mill plus an $ 8 mill guaranteed buyout for 2024 = $40 mill. -
Nor would I agree with that there is ANY good reason to have him in office again. That would be bad. ALL bad. NOTHING good to come of that except the end of our Democracy.

Again, he can do that just as easily as a 1B coach as he can as a player. Wave constantly to all the fans, walk over and hobnob with the fans all game when not in the coaches box (not certain if there are less restrictions on coaches versus players where he could get away with that...); yap with each team's 1B'man all game which he would love... -
I think Livers is also going to absorb quite a few minutes there... And you can say exactly the same thing about Livers as said about Bojan...

He still has a ton to offer? I get it that bossman has spoken... but... No. He's got nothing left to offer. Nada. -
One other thing: We have ammunition range 180 miles for the HIMARS and not just the 50 mile range missiles we've been sending them. I want the Pentagon/ White House to quit F'ing around because of Russian "feelings" and ship the 180 mile range missiles. They'll be used to hit targets in Crimea and all supply lines in Ukraine that Russia is using. Not Russia proper. Maybe the Crimean bridge that Russia built, but not Russian land. Quit F'ing around and get those longer range missiles over to Ukraine pronto. IMO.

It would have to be USA-led... you know that. The UK (Britain actually) was also a party to the Budapest Memorandum so they also should have troops included. Aside from those two, it doesn't matter anymore. But Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Romania would have direct interest as well in participating in the stabilization of Ukraine. It could even start slowly, with the US putting NASAMS and other anti-aircraft/ missile defense teams in first. Followed by air support and then combat troops. Start in the west and up to the Dnieper River... wait to see if Ukrainian troops secure the entire western half of Ukraine at least up to the Dnieper (Kherson included), and start from there. Simply inserting ANY troops/ other into Ukraine will rush Putin to the table to make certain he can keep Crimea. He wants the land bridge... but above all else he MUST be able to keep Crimea.

At this point it should just be Article 4. I don't think they should automatically jump to 5 yet, before going through a process/ meeting/ discussion of all the alternatives. But I am absolutely for putting 90,000 NATO Peacekeepers into Ukraine. With instructions to remove any foreign invaders... But that's just me...
