  1. 3-1, ugh. Mrazek isn’t seeing puck well. This is like the 3rd period of the Washington game.
  2. Bad start to 2nd period. Really made the Wings look silly on the 2nd goal.
  3. DeBrincat with a late goal gives the Wings a 1-0 lead after 1. The Wings need to start winning games they're not supposed to - such as away to Carolina.
  4. The Athletic posted its Tigers’ Fan Survey for 2025 today. I think it’s paywalled so I can’t post it all, but I assume a few of the charts are OK. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6201650/2025/03/14/detroit-tigers-2025-fan-survey-results-optimism-on-rise/?source=user_shared_article Detroit Tigers 2025 fan survey results: Optimism is on the rise 80% of fans surveyed expect the Tigers to win 80-89 games, 12% in the 70s and 8% more than 90. Riley Greene is the favourite of 31% of Tigers fans, Skubal 27% and Parker Meadows 13%.
  5. I think the top 4 are set but perhaps with a late push he could slip by Stankoven. Wide variety of draft positions among the consensus contenders: Macklin Celebrini - 1st round #1 overall in 2024 Lane Hutson (defense) -2nd rondo #62 overall in 2022 Dustin Wolf (goalie) - 7th round #214 overall in 2019 Matvei Mitchkov - 1st round #7 overall in 2023 Logan Stankoven - 2nd round #47 overall in 2021 Kasper was drafted 1st round #8 overall in 2022
  6. Brock Boeser will be available, with the Canucks expected to make only a half-hearted effort to sign him. He is no Marner, but did score 40 goals last year and would be much cheaper.
  7. 5 of the Wings' next 6 games are on the road. Every game is a team higher in the standings than the Wings (#22 in NHL, 68 points), with 5 of the games being against teams at least 13 points better than the Wings: - at Carolina (#6 in NHL, 82 points) - vs Vegas (#4 in NHL, 83 points) - at Washington (#1 in NHL, 94 points) - at Vegas (#4 in NHL, 83 points) - at Utah (#20 in NHL, 69 points) - at Colorado (#8 in NHL, 81 points) Of the Wings' final 17 games, just 6 are at home as the other 11 are on the road. Wings have their work cut out for them, to say the least.
  8. The 4min 35s mark of this clip below is gold. Footage of Lochead’s winning goal taken from the vantage point of the opposite end blue line a few rows up from the Red Wings’ player bench. Crowd noise, no commentary. This is amazing too. The 50s mark is the Flames’ radio call of Lochead’s winning goal, as called by Jiggs Macdonald who later became well-known for calling Islanders and national games.
  9. And screwed out of Pavel Bure, one of the most exciting players ever.
  10. Incidentally, Sheldon Kennedy is famous in Canada for going public about Graham James. Not sure that was covered much in the States.
  11. Yes. And "the National League", "a 4 point game", "from the old school" and "Katy bar the door". I was confused by a 4 point game, I thought he meant the Wings would get double the normal points if they won that night. When he just meant that you'd not only get 2 points but prevent a close rival from getting 2 points. Plus I thought "old school" was an actual building where veteran players and coaches would go in the summer, like a hockey camp, lol. As much as guys like us got our share of Red Wings glory in the '90s and '00s, I have to keep in mind that a student graduating college this year was only 5 years old when the Wings last won the Cup and so a whole generation doesn't remember the Wings being great year in year out.
  12. Final, WIngs win (edit: 38 seconds to go). 5 point night for Kane, 2G 3A. Four points for DeB and 3 points for Kasper.
  13. Kane’s 2nd power play goal makes it 5-3 Wings early in 3rd.
  14. DeBrincat takes a double minor late in the 2nd and the Sabres score to close to 4-3
  15. Correct. A best of 3 against Atlanta, Game 2 was at the Olympia and was a rare televised home game. Lochead deked the goalie and tapped it in on the way by the net. Have never heard Bruce Martyn more excited. For years I considered that the biggest highlight since being a Wings fan.
  16. The Wings made the playoffs in 1970 and 1978 and 1984. This is the longest. Although missing the playoffs so many times from 1971-1983 was hard to do when almost every team made it in back then.
  17. That was a nice 3-goal burst but sucks to give up the 2nd Buffalo goal immediately.
  18. And here are his Edmonton drafts.
  19. Jacob Trouba scored a goal last night! It was his first of the year. 1 G 12A in 63 games this season for two teams. I know points scored isn’t the be all and end all for defensemen, but still.
  20. I can’t wait for a #58 overall pick of Yzerman to approach 500 NHL career games and record four 20+ goal seasons including 30 goals once. Doubt it will be 2019 or 2020’s 2nd round forwards Mastrosimone, Niederbach, or Hanas.
