Those broadcasts are very long days. A lot of people think they show up 30 minutes before the game and just talk about baseball. Not if you are serious about your work and Gibby never half-assed anything. He was probably at the park before noon and probably didn't leave until an hour after the game is over. All that while dealing with the effects of Parkinson's AND the side effects of the Parkinson's meds. Those meds make people exhausted and then the Parky makes it hard to get real sleep. It's a Catch-22. My guess is the Tigers probably went to Gibby and said "Do you really want to put yourself through this so much?" and he probably agreed it was too much. Tough to see a spirited guy get so slowly cut down like this, but he did not sound good last year and I am not angry about that, because his insights were still pretty spot-on, but it made me sad to hear him struggle like that. He'll still be connected in some way.

I think Ibanez is a lock.

Expecting guys who are absolutely going to be on the OD roster to lock in like normal is asking a lot. Spring Training can fool ya. Mike Laga was the King of Spring. Hit .199 over 9 MLB seasons with never more than 6 Home Runs in a season.

or maybe Flaherty is tinkering with a few things that he won't be doing when they start counting.
-
They are trying to cut down his mileage. But, if you really only need to do this for 2-3 weeks, shouldn't you?
-
Yes, it is. With Baddoo down, who else is there to pair with Perez? Jones or Kreidler. Yeesh. Greene is only playing center at the end of a game if there are no other options. I sense a (minor) trade coming). Or maybe just an outright release of Kreidler or McKinstry.

LOL. I don't think Meadows has that kind of injury, where it's a toughness issue. It's a nerve thing, right? Those injuries are totally unpredictable. This hurts because the version of Meadows from the last two months of the season is an All-Star. I can't see Perez being the every day CF. It's between Jones or Kreidler. Kreidler has the advantage because he's already on the 40-man roster, but I've never seen much from him. They could go find someone and make a small trade. How about Matthew Gregory Vierling? How close is he? He's pretty valuable to this team.

Something tells me this Meadows injury is a lot worse than we know.
-
Not too worried about Jordan Balazovich not getting anyone out.
-
What is the latest on Meadows?

It's funny that we move Keith to 1b because he was a below average defensive 2b. There were only 3 second baseman worse at Defensive Runs Saved than Keith. One of them was Gleyber Torres. I hope Torres hits, because that move still doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. Maybe he just needed out of NYC.

Because McStinky can play in the OF. If only J-Hen could play Center, but since he can't play Left or Right, I'm thinking it's a non-starter

DING ! I was in 10th or 11th grade. As big a Tiger fan as I was, I had never heard of him, but he played before I was born and he was basically Zack McKinstry. I remember him being nice, but he was kind of a depressed guy.

If Meadows isn't throwing this week, then is he going to have enough time to be ready for Opening Day? 13 position players (I don't see them going with less than 13 pitchers) C (2) - Rogers, Dinger OF (4) - Greene, Carpenter, Perez, Meadows (or Jones) INF (7) - Keith, Torres, Sweeney, Ibanez, Tork, McKinstry, Baez Once Vierling gets back, I guess that means Jones goes. Plus there's Jace Jung, who I think will start in Toledo. I don't know, I sense a trade is going to happen at some point. The infield is kind of a mess. I hope Baez can show us something.

Okay. Back in 1982 my mom dated a former Tiger player. They dated for a couple of months. See if you can guess who it is - Backup infielder. - Grew up in Windsor - Played from 1953 - 1961 for the Tigers, Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins, and Kansas City A's. - Wound up scouting for the Tigers and had a 1968 World Series ring that he showed me (when he was scouting). Who is it?
-
I've really got my doubts about Kreidler. I would really prefer Jones over him as the CF option to pair with Perez.
-
You mean because "reasons" ?
-
Really, why?

So the Lions will have DJ Reader and DJ Reed? Or is Reader already gone?

I have a big pet peeve that I think many of you would agree with Anytime someone becomes popular now - they are everywhere to the point where it's completely annoying. I don't need to see anymore Kelce brothers or Post Malone. Cereal box and Oreos. What do the Post Malone Oreos taste like, caramel and cigarettes? Just go away and go count your money, but give us some ****ing peace.

I was thinking the same thing

I think Seattle is going to regret Sam Darnold. The Lions totally exposed him. And the Lions did not have a great defense.
-
This is just like last year when Larkin went down with his injury. They totally fell apart. Larkin and Raymond are not the same since the Four Nations tournament. Not a point since before the Four Nations tournament. Yzerman's seat should be giving him blisters on his arse at this point.

I hope Manning does alright for the Reds, Pirates, Marlins or A's I, like Gehringer_2, thought he might have been the best of the bunch a few years ago. We always love to rate how good our prospects are and all teams do, but if you look back through MLB history at any given year - out of a team's Top 10 prospects, if 3 of them wind up being above average Major League players then you are doing pretty well. I remember hearing the greatness of Mize, Manning and Skubal, but also thinking that in the real world, the best we can realistically hope for was one to really become a star. Skubal's the star, Mize is a 4th/5th starter and Manning is probably done as a Tiger. If we can get anything above average out of Mize, then we're doing really well.

My head is like a radio on shuffle. I wake up with songs in my head every day. Not always ones I like. Sometimes they are songs I have not heard in years (Go Ahead And Rain by J.D. Souther the other day - which I like). Today it was Strange Meadow Lark by Dave Brubeck, which I love. No idea why it was knockin' around in there, but it was.
