Based on how Russell played yesterday - if Daboll wants any chance at keeping his job he needs to make a move there. But the move is a rookie and judging a rookie on his preseason is foolish. The other option is Jameis Winston.
The Giants haven't been as much of a pushover as we thought going into the season. The 21-6 loss to DC and the 22-9 loss to KC were closer games than the score.
You know how the combo of a Coach & QB can be great. I think we're learning that with Belichick & Brady, it looks like it was really Brady driving that success and I am starting to think that Russ' success may have been linked to Pete Carroll as much as anything. But there are two other things that I think of with Russ. #1 - the age thing.....he just doesn't have it anymore and #2 the hunger thing. He just doesn't seem all that hungry anymore. He should have walked away after that first season in Denver.
I feel bad for Stefanski. I think he's a really good coach who got Watsoned. Baker was a good QB for them and his one mediocre season he was playing hurt the whole time. They were so foolish to go after that criminal with all that baggage. Screwed themselves.
Coach wise. Yep, Daboll and McDaniel are certainly at the top, but I have to be honest here - I think it should be Raheem Morris. There is no way you should ever lose 30-0 to Carolina, even though Carolina is an improving team. We'll see how they respond against their former coach Quinn against DC. If they get slammed at home in that game with a bye week to follow. The Coordinators are Zac Robinson as OC and Jeff Ulbrich as DC. Can you imagine Ulbrich being an Interim HC two years in a row (and after that stunt his son pulled at the draft)?. There is a lot of talent in ATL, they should be challenging for the division by now.
In Minnesota it looks like Carson Wentz is the savior -- for now. The JJ McCarthy thing is interesting. I never thought he was brilliant at Michigan. He had a great O-Line. I seem to remember him missing a lot of throws. I think he could be good, but it feels like they're giving up on him already and that's kind of stupid In college, even the best team you play has maybe 3 legit NFL players on their defense. In the NFL they're as good as that. It's a big leap. Gotta give him a little time.
