  1. The biggest difference between teams in terms of income is local TV deals, the Dodgers get nearly 250 million a year for theirs while a team like the Tigers is like a quarter of that. Even if you want to throw out the Dodgers as an anomaly the difference between some teams and others is still 50 to 100 million dollars with some cases even higher. That's 2-4 high priced free agents difference right there. It will never happen but if they were to pool up all the regional deals and split them evenly between teams then things would be alot different.
  2. People talk about the strength of the schedule but sometimes it's not about who you play but when you play them and the Lions have the most "rest days" in the NFL. By rest days it means how much longer it has been since you played vs. your opponent. The Lions have an NFL leading 5 games where they play teams coming off Monday Night Football which is a big advantage. Also only 1 game all season will the Lions be coming off less rest than their opponent and even that is only a 1 day difference. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/betting/teams-hurt-helped-nfl-schedule-rest-disparity-2025/
  3. Physically and the way he stands at the plate I always get Kendrys Morales vibes with Liranzo, if he put up prime Morales numbers while being able to handle catching that would be a pretty damn good outcome for the Tigers.
  4. Kinda on topic but I wonder how many Windsor area fans are Tigers fans vs. Blue Jays fans? I know the Lions are well represented there but that's different since Canada doesn't have an NFL team.
  5. Does he have an opt out after this year or was it only for the first 2? It may have been Erods who was 2 but I swear somebody we signed had that option.
  6. Dude this guy posted this an hour ago, called it right down to the pose with the arms in the air. Unbelievable!
  7. Minny gets back to back international games but of course both are road games giving them 2 less true road games then they otherwise would have.
  8. I read that the odds of that top 4 order were over 1 in 5 million.
  9. Also not all 3rd round picks are created equal, the Lions 3rd they gave up this year was pick 102 and the 2 next year will be a comp pick which will surely end up 100+ and likely a late "real" 3rd rounder in the 90s. OTOH the Dallas 3rd rounder will likely being in the mid 70s at worst.
  10. It took Griffin and Rose leaving for the Pistons to get the number 1 pick!
  11. I mean they're the Cowboys so they are going to bring the viewers but I thought for sure it was gonna be the Commies or Lions getting that opening night game against the Eagles.
  12. It's so frustrating seeing teams like the Mavs win. Luka trade aside they were only in the lottery due to several key injuries, they arent a true bottom end talent team but they end up getting rewarded with one of the top prospects to come out in awhile.
  13. Was honestly hoping for the Jazz but they got "Piston'd/Red Wing'd".
  14. Final four is down to the Mavs, Spurs, Sixers and Hornets. Conspiracy theorists will be thinking the Spurs to give Wemby another star running mate or the Mavs to make up for the Luka trade.
  15. He ended up going 1-2 with a double and a walk before being pulled for a pinch hitter. I'm guessing it was just for precautionary reasons cause I haven't seen anything that mentions him getting hurt.
  16. Homer, 105mph lineout, homer. Flaherty obviously isn't fooling anybody right now.
  17. Since bottoming out on August 30th of 2023 the Tigers have now gone 131-99 in their past 230 games which works out to a 93 win pace. Yeah it's an arbitrary cutoff but there is some tangible differences to the team around that starting point. Skubal came back from his injury a month earlier and was really starting to get into his dominant form. The younger guys who played a role on last years team and/or this start like Carpenter, Vierling and Meadows were starting to play more regularly and perform along with Tork finishing that 2023 strong. Basically the youth movement was starting to take shape in the back half of that summer and since then the Tigers have played at an elite level for nearly a season and a half. All of this is to say that it is kinda frustrating when I see things from local and national outlets questioning if this team is "real", like these 39 games are the only sample of them playing winning baseball of late when that simply hasn't been the case.
  18. Aside from the ridiculous 50 to 1 K:BB ratio in his last 6 starts, Skubal also is posting an ungodly .67 WHIP in that period as well. For reference the all time single season WHIP number is .73.
  19. I'm getting deja vu to the NFC North standings this past year in football. Felt like despite the Lions playing so well that they should be running away with things the Vikings and Packers kept winning as well making it come down to the end for the division. It's early but as of now it appears the Central may be the same way this year.
  20. Corbin Burnes could be another one, his ERA is acceptable but his underlining numbers aren't good at all and are trending downwards. Still early but this has the real potential to be another bad signing for them.
  21. I have YT TV as well and sometimes its ahead of sites like ESPN where I like to check other scores but majority of the time it's not so when watching games I have to restrain myself from going and checking out of town scores for my fantasy teams cause there's been a few times where I have been spoiled mainly with the Lions and NFL. Now I make sure to wait to in between innings or commercial breaks and not just down periods in the action.
  22. Wow had no recollection of us getting off to that kinda start in 2014, definitely wouldn't have guess that.
  23. As of this moment we have the best record in all of baseball, any idea when the last time we could say that this far along in the season? Maybe it was one of those 2010 teams but it felt like they always started relatively slow so I don't think it would've been them. If not then would we really have to go all the way back to 84?
  24. Speedy CF bats leadoff, scrappy 2b that can "handle the bat" bats 2nd and the slugging 1B/DH/RF occupy the middle of the order. Bottom of the order is light hitting SS and Catcher that calls a good game.
  25. I don't like to body shame but boy Joc Pederson has really put on weight since the last time I really paid attention to him. I remember him being this athletic looking guy who could play CF but now he resembles Miggy or Sandoval.
