Seeing Clemens in the stands of a baseball game reminds me of that scene in The Office where Michael thinks he saw Johnny Depp at his condo complex only for Jim to mock him for thinking that which makes Michael say "remember how you were so excited when you thought you saw Roger Clemens?" to which Jim responds with something like "Seeing Roger Clemens in the stands of a baseball game sounds a little more believable than Johnny Depp at your condo complex."

Flores threw 3 shutout innings today with 3ks. Not sure why he only threw 3 innings considering his count was only at 41 but scouring twitter I see nothing about an injury so hopefully they just are monitoring his innings right now or something.

If you told me before the year that come the last day of May we'd have a game where the Castrai were batting 1st and 3rd and I wouldn't be going crazy about it I never would've believed you but here we are.

I agree that would be worse, I said from the beginning that my biggest fear is that they try to get around surgery only to come to the conclusion months later that it is inevitable. If that were to happen that would make this season essentially a complete waste for him. Who knows as bad as the medical staff seems they didnt waste too much time before coming to the tj decision on Turnbull so perhaps they see a good enough indicator that he will get better without surgery. We can only hope.

I think he will be back by the end of June or atleast that is what they are thinking. I am concerned he will have some sorta setback though or may pitch for a few starts only for it to start bothering him again.
-
I guess after thinking about it he went on the dl in mid April so 60 days will be in a couple weeks, so if they weren't expecting him back for another few weeks you might as well put him there to open up a spot on the 40.

Mize to the 60 day DL per Tigers Twitter.

I admit that I liked the signing, all things being equal I would've prefered Correa but at the time of the Baez signing everybody assumed it would take Lindor money to get him so getting Javy for half that seemed like a better use of our budget. Also as expected I figured we would struggle with the long ball so I assumed we would atleast be able to pencil Javy in for 25+ to help counteract the expected HR regression of Hasse and Grossman. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case which is the biggest disappointment. I think we all figured he would be a low obp guy but if he could slug for .500+ you could accept it.

I know very little about Carpenter but based off his draft position and how he was ranked by the pundits Im fairly certain that he is just a flash in the pan, I mean guys with that type of profile rarely end up breaking out and being legit but rarely isn't never, it does happen from time to time and maybe we will actually get lucky and he will be one of them.

While we're in the midst of getting blown out it made me go see how many times we were on the winning end up blow outs and best I can tell the 13-0 Rockies game is the only one where we won by 5 or more runs, in fact we only have 3 games where we won by more than 3 runs. Virtually all our wins have been by 1 or 2 runs so as bad as our record is it could be even worse if our bullpen wasn't holding up their end of things.

I often think about Dan when it comes to this never ending rebuild. He only has so many years left and it's a shame that they have been spent calling such crappy baseball. I feel some announcers may not care or atleast care that much, it's a job and they are getting paid so that is what matters most to them but I definitely don't get that vibe from him. One of the things I miss most about the good Tigers teams was hearing his calls on big plays, even if I didn't actually listen to the game on the radio I always made sure to seek out his calls.

This is just brutal!

Yeah 9 times out of 10 when I have the game on I just have it on in the background with the sound off or low while I watch or do something else on my laptop. In the rare times where it appears an important situation in the game is happening I'll turn up the volume and pay total attention to the game but that may happen only a few times a game. Maybe if/when the Tigers actually get good again I'll go back to giving the game my undivided attention but who knows since its been so long since they were good my attention span and viewing habits have changed since then so its hard to say for sure.

Diving into his splits deeper and I think G2 may be onto something with him and spider tack. The ban started 6/21 last year and he was solid up until his start on 6/20 where he looked like crap. Even though the ban didn't start till the following day it's not unreasonable to think that he pitched that game clean just cause more eyes were starting to be on guys and to prepare for the ban. From that point forward he sucked for the rest of 2021 and sucked this year. So he was one of the better pitchers in baseball in 2020, was off to a good enough start in 2021 then he falls apart from mid June on. His breakdown timeline almost completely coincides with the spider tack ban. It could possibly just be a coincidence but considering he wasn't an overpowering guy to begin with he seems like the type of pitcher that would benefit more from spider tack then others so it being a coincidence seems unlikely to me.

We of course never had a guy like Tatum or perhaps even Brown but other than that the Celtics kinda give me the vibe of the great going to work Pistons team so I'll be pulling for them.
-
My thought process is yeah we have guys in the minors that may very well give you the same production that Kuechel would but why rush them or throw them into the fire if you can get somebody like Keuchel to pitch for the same price that may provide atleast some sorta upside? Of course my thought process is under the assumption that Fetter/AJ think there is something that can be salvaged with him, if they believe he is toast then yeah no point on wasting your time with him.

Only the 4th time all season and first in over 3 weeks that the Tigers scored 6 or more runs.
-
If Lange does end up being legit that would be a solid return for a couple months of Castellanos.
-
Babe Carpenter with another bomb. I'm almost positive he has more HRs this month than the big club has combined but I wonder how close he is to out homering the rest of the system this month by himself?
-
Hammerin Harold with a bomb! Hell compared to the rest of the Tigers hitters this year he may as well be Hank Aaron himself.
-
First time I actually seen Rodriguez pitch and he looks physically so much like McKenzie. Like I'm not totally convinced they aren't the same person pitching for both teams today.
-
It's only "on paper" at this point but I don't think the Lions have had a top 3 O-Line in my lifetime.
-
I wouldn't be completely against it just cause I have so much faith in Fetter and it would be low risk but after looking at his numbers both statistically and pitch f/x and I have to say that I'm a little skeptical that he can be saved. Again though considering we'd only be on the hook for the league minimum the rest of the season and the fact that we could use some starting pitching I wouldn't be opposed to it. It's not like we don't have guys that we could cut to make room for him either, if our 40 was filled with guys that I'd be worried about losing that would be another thing that would deter me from the move but that's not the case.
