  1. As frustrating as this season has been to me the saving grace is that even if we think the guys on the team aren't as good as people may have thought before the year they can't possibly be THIS bad. Like if we had this same record and the guys were hitting say .700 to 725 OPS I would actually be more concerned cause there may not be much room for improvement from there but that's not the case. Coming into this game they were at .602 right now and on pace for less HRs than Bonds hit by himself one year. There's no way they are actually this bad so sooner or later they will start to hit and hopefully when they do we'll take advantage of it.
  2. Not that I necessarily blame him considering how young and highly touted Perez was at the time but to think we totally could've gotten Valdez in the Verlander trade if we wanted to.
  3. Not that 34 is particularly young by baseball standards but I can't believe Brantley is "only" that old, seems like he has been around forever so I was thinking he was more like Miggy's age.
  4. I know it's kinda an arbitrary number but still out of the thousands of MLB players in history it is amazing that he is one of only 3 with 500HR, 3000hits and 600 doubles.
  5. Schoop would swing through a beach ball at this point.
  6. I went and watched the Tigers play the Reds in Cincinnati in 2012 and the Reds fans there were nothing but class to me and my then GF. Had some friendly debates with a few people about how who was better between Miggy and Votto, we also talked about our respective farm systems etc. They were super polite, in fact we went to grab a couple drinks and while we were gone I believe it was Ramon Santiago that hit a HR right by where we were sitting, when we got back to our seats the guy saved the ball and asked if we wanted it. Just great people, so maybe I got lucky but just from that experience I have secretly had a soft spot for the Reds ever since.
  7. To add to this, there was about a 10 year stretch where I probably watched more Braves games on TBS than I did Tigers games so I watched a ton of Andruw Jones and I think him at his prime was the best defensive CFer I ever seen but outside of him I don't know if I personally have seen anybody better than Jackson was those first couple years here.
  8. I was too young to really appreciate somebody like Chet so perhaps he was better but for me those first 2 years Austin was here were was the best CF defense I have ever seen from a Tiger and among the best I have ever seen period. The amount of ground he could cover was unreal!
  9. Tigers lineup 9 HRs total. Yordan Alaverez has 8 himself. Not a fair fight!
  10. Getting Austin Jackson in that trade as well can't be understated. He put up 16 WAR in 4 seasons for us at a low price, the money we saved with him vs. Granderson allowed us to get somebody like Victor.
  11. lol I'd bet in the history of baseball a SS has never made back to back throws with that much disparity in the mph. Probably low to mid 90s on the one play and the very next batter he lobs it over.
  12. Damn what a throw by Javy!
  13. Kudos to Shep to remind viewers that "A 5 game hit streak is on the line for Candelario"...in the 3rd inning.
  14. Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but if you're not yes Tork has raw power, probably 70 grade.
  15. We may need the rabbit ball back, only Baez and Tork have real raw power on this team so the deadened ball hurts us more than it would other teams.
  16. Not a bad pitch, 95 at the very top of the zone.
  17. Castro playing damn near at the warning track yet he still breaks back on a 250ft fly ball.
  18. Yeah as much as I believe in Holmes and I do think he is really smart the thing is there are a bunch of other smart guys in the NFL too that have access to the same analytics we do so if somebody were to last to the 5th round something tells me that there must be some red flags with the player. Not to say they can't overcome that and become great but it's something that I would certainly not count on.
  19. For people smarter than me, is Bagley the type of guy you can keep on the floor in the playoffs? The 10 or so times I watched him as a Piston I thought he looked good and helped Cade play alot better but my scouting eye isn't good enough to know how he'd fair when the competition gets tougher in the playoffs.
  20. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself but I have a lot of confidence in Fetter/ Hinch being able to get above average pitching out of thin so Hypothetically if Mize and Manning come back strong and look good the rest of the year should we consider trading one or both for a bat(s)?
  21. I think it was Hutch too, while Walker is the uber athletic type that Holmes and Co. love Aiden also scored really high on those tests as well but unlike Walker he actually had the production in college to go with it.
  22. I wouldn't mind Alex Chief Avila to take over next year. From the small sample I saw of him on MLB Network I liked him, plus it would be nice to get a younger guy who was part of the most recent good Tigers team instead of all these old timers.
  23. I can't read Beau Briske's name without thinking of Bill Braske from SNL.
  24. Yeah perhaps it was a 1a and 1b thing and they wouldve rushed their pick in if it was Walker there as well.
  25. Btw does anybody else think the show would be even better if you didn't watch BB first? Like for instance Nacho's final scene where he took Bolsa's gun and had it at his head, for a split second I got excited until I quickly remembered that Bolsa and everybody else there survived since they were in BB so it took some of the suspense away.
