  1. I think the last time we had a crowd like this for a night game was when Ohtani came here for the first time a few years ago, between him and it coinciding with Cabrera's 500 HR chase(think he was at 499 then) made for a huge crowd.
  2. Wait did Kane say he saw a Deuce jersey? Now we have to win!
  3. Game isn't even 40 minutes in and we're already in the bottom of the 4th. Crazy!
  4. Nationals score 4 runs in the first off All Star Ranger Suarez and the Phillies. Where was this offense against the Royals?
  5. Yeah he was but at the time in 06-08 us posters there weren't saber savvy to say the least, I remember the arguments almost always being based off of basic stats, even defensive stats were things like fielding percentage and "range factor". I remember the one knock on Granderson from everybody was that he couldn't hit left handed pitching though.
  6. Like I said, if they aren't going to score atleast make him work, unfortunately through 2 innings the Tigers haven't done either.
  7. "SAFE!"-Jim Joyce 2010
  8. Since Crochet has been on a pitch count at the very least I'd like the Tigers to make him work these first few innings.
  9. I wasn't a member of here yet but at the old ESPN boards that I frequented before this Sizemore vs. Granderson was a major debate between Tigers and Indians fans.
  10. Fan likely saved a run but I won't say for sure cause things may have played out differently if the runner was on 3rd to start. Not to mention not sure if the Tigers slowed up after the fan "touched it".
  11. I hope that fan doesn't get ejected, seemed like he tried pulling back once he found out the ball was fair and in play. Not to mention it was only like 3 pitches into the game.
  12. Yoda, Biggs, Eric Clio, Pyro, Scottwood and a few others come to mind among posters I miss from the old forum. I didn't start going there till 2009ish so there's probably more that were big posters before my time but those are ones that come to my mind. And yeah I'm pretty sure it's the same Shelton, seems to have the same type of knowledge as him.
  13. Admittedly I haven't looked at how the other managers have been other than just their respective teams records but one thing about Hinch is that he has done a great job of actually managing the game. It's not like he is just penciling in the same starting pitchers and lineup every game and the Tigers are overachieving due to the players playing over their heads. He is actually mixing and matching the roster to put them in the best position to succeed.
  14. I think Holmes and Campbell have shown that they don't care or atleast aren't as concerned as most about getting that other pass rusher on the end. In the past 2 drafts people have been clamoring for it and they passed on guys that may have fit that bill along with not going after any of the potential vets that could have whether via trade or FA.
  15. Yeah, on a similar note I've read and heard people say that Hinch shouldn't be up for Manager of the Year cause it's not "Manager of the month" but if the Tigers were in the exact same situation except they went on this current run in say June or July nobody would be saying that, instead they would just look at their record for the year and how he took a young team with a depleted rotation to the playoffs.
  16. Aside from the point that Oblong has made the fact is that we also caught the Royals as well and have an outside chance of catching the Orioles too so its not just the Twins.
  17. Also on the radio today Stoney and Jim Costa were talking about the importance of Trey Sweeney and how his call up almost corresponds right with our turnaround so it got me thinking, just from a win loss standpoint would we be in this same situation if we kept Flaherty and instead played with our inferior SS options? I guess you'd have to go back and look at how the games went in Flaherty's potential starts but with how successful our Bullpen/Opener games have been its hard to think that we would've won many more with Jack.
  18. Listening to 97.1 and of course Valenti and his fellow Detroit sports hater Rico give all the credit to this situation on the Twins collapse and not the Tigers play. Said something like "none of this would even matter if the Twins didn't collapse so they are the whole reason you are going to the playoffs." Of course nobody corrects them and tells them that the Tigers very well could finish ahead of the Royals and possibly even the Orioles so even if the Twins didn't collapse at the very least this weekend would be meaningful and have playoff implications.
  19. Yeah Kubel was a killer, I was gonna say Joe Crede too but went back and looked and he did most of his killing with the White Sox, only spent one year with the Twins but it felt like it was more than that.
  20. There's a name I haven't heard in a while but you're right he would have. He just knew how to play the game the right way!
  21. Just cause Im a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to my sports teams Ill probably still be rooting for the Twins to lose tonight unless we get a comfortable lead.
  22. Do we still have a shot at the 4 seed if the Orioles were to lose out? If so we may actually be in position of rooting for the Twins every game this weekend.
  23. I also believed at that time it was imperative to avoid the Yankees, I didn't know then like I know now just how random the MLB playoffs are and how much of a crapshoot they are so its really just a marginal difference when it comes to winning and losing if you get a "tougher" opponent.
  24. Lewin and Gibby were definetly my favorite duo of the last 25 or so years.
  25. Marlins pitcher "2006 Tigers WOrld Series" a throw to first on a bunt resulting in a run scored. Getting the feeling we're not going to get any help from our competition.
