Kriedler works a walk which will raise his season OPS of .363. Don't think I've ever seen a non pitcher or early season/extreme small sample lower than that.

Good call ump! Tigers go to the ninth up 2-1.

Michigan Football 2024 aka The Year Michigan has to Defend a Natty
RandyMarsh replied to romad1's topic in College Sports
I know Texas has a ton of talent and has arguably the best QB in the country but with that said the defense really disappointed me today. I knew that our offense was likely to struggle this year, particularly early on since we have so many new pieces but I hoped the defense would still be really good with guys like Grant, Graham and Johnson returning but thus far that hasn't been the case. As far as the QB situation goes I don't know enough about NIL and reasons players go to specific schools but with all the talented and/or previously highly regarded QB recruits that hit the portal and changed teams this offseason it amazes me that Michigan couldn't land one of them. JJ not announcing his draft decision until after the initial portal period and the top guys were taken may have hurt that though. -
Looking around the league at potential Tork replacements and I zeroed in on Jake Burger of the Marlins. Of course doesn't offer much average wise but hit 34 bombs last year, 25 thus far this year and has a career 113 OPS+. He's RH which we need and I think he has a couple years of control left. Considering where the Marlins are at they likely would be open to trading him for prospects.

Week One: Los Angeles Rams (0-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-0)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
At the end of 2021 Goff was outplaying Stafford despite playing for a terrible Lions team. He won offensive player of the week 2 times in the final 6 weeks and in which he had 3 different games of 110+ QB rating. Yes it's a assumption but assuming he played at a similar level with a more talented Rams team there's no reason to think he couldn't have taken them through the playoffs that year too. It bears repeating that Rams team had one of the easiest playoff slates you can possibly get with a free falling Arizona team who Goff destroyed a month earlier, a Bucs team missing several important players, a relatively average(for an NFC Championship game opponent) SF team missing Trent Williams and a young Bengals team who only 9 games in the regular season. A Goff led team could've easily won all those games as well. So to sum it up yes I'm making some assumptions but I just think it's lazy when people(not saying HolyGoat I'm speaking in general since the media always says this as well) just say "well the trade won the Rams a Super Bowl so it worked out for them" when they very well may have won 1 or more if they stuck with Goff and either used those draft picks on other players in trades or drafted the right players. Goff led Rams team made the Super Bowl and was in the playoffs the year prior so they were right there. It would be like us trading Goff and 2 1sts this past offseason for a different QB and we end up winning the Super Bowl this year with said QB. Would we automatically just assume that the only reason we won that Super Bowl was because of that trade? I know I wouldn't. -

That would make it inaccurate cause "Super Bowl Win" didn't come with the trade. Also Might as well include "division title, playoff wins and franchise relevancy for first time in 30+ years" in the Lions column then. -

I have no idea what to expect in this game, UM could win or get trucked I'm really not sure but one thing I am sure about is that I'm glad to actually have a big game to watch this early in the season instead of facing another cupcake. The last couple years we had to wait till the end of October or November to actually get a "big game feel" which sucks to me as a fan. -
I was wild over Mize just cause I had the belief that his fastball command was much much superior than he has ever shown as a pro. The couple times I watched him in college and some of the reports I read led me to believe that it was 70+ or about as good as you will ever see from a player his age. I figured that with that type of command and having 98 in his back pocket along with a complete wipe out secondary pitch that he would be at a minimum plus starter with a Cy Young ceiling. Unfortunately the command wasn't anywhere close to what I and many people thought and the fabled splitter of his either became a non factor due to that or like the FB command was nowhere near as good as people thought or just flat out got worse with age.

I went up to watch the first High School football game of the season at the District I work for and a guy comes up to me and tells me how I coached him in football when he was a kid. I quickly remembered after him giving me his name so I asked him what he was doing up here thinking that maybe he was a student or something and he says he was watching his son play. Completely threw me off guard cause I'm "only" 41 and my child is only in 1st grade but given I was in my early 20s when I coached him and he had his child young it ended up checking out. Still was wild to me.

I was coming to post that MCDC commercial but didn't realize Bombers already beat me to it. Cool to see Dan in a commercial but feel like they missed something by having the joke be about covering your mouth so they don't steal your signs/order. Given that he is known for his aggressiveness and motivational skills you figure the commercial would center around something like that.

The White Sox have won only 4 games since the All Star Break and just 6 games since 4th of July.

Navigato feels like he's been in the system since the DD days.

They're currently at 7.6% which is still a major long shot but less than a week ago they were only about 1%. I wonder what it would've been if not for that Kyle Lewis HR today? That was a real killer.

Back when I was big into fantasy I would get the ticket but now that I only play it for fun I don't have that big of need to watch all the different games. Between the Lions, all the prime time games and the 4:00 "game of the week" I get my NFL fix. Now if I lived out of market and had to get the Ticket to watch the Lions then I'd definitely pony up for that.

I know it was against Illinois State but I had to do a double take when I saw that Iowa scored 40 points.

I missed the first half so I can't comment on that but from what I saw in the 2nd half I didn't think Warren looked THAT bad. Granted most of the throws were pretty basic but the ball placement on them was really good and from my memory he didnt have any egregious misses. There was one that was like 40 yards down the sideline where the receiver did have a little opening but it was just a tad overthrown, had a nice tight spiral and velocity to the throw though and wasn't off by much. -

As John Madden used to say "If you have 2 quarterbacks you have none." -
Dumb base running by McKinstry, no reason to force the extra base there in that situation.
-
Like Whitaker he also was hurt by playing about 15-20 years too early before people started to appreciate and use modern metrics. Chet didnt have eye popping HR numbers, a .300+ average or big stolen base numbers which were the things that caught people's attention back then.

McCann hits the magical 10 years of service time mark which guarantees you the full MLB pension for life. Considering he was never a premium prospect, got off to a rough start in the majors and plays the most taxing position in the sport I can't imagine he wouldve thought he'd make it this long and have this type of career.
-
A-Rod did a video on his yt page a few years back talking about and demonstrating how throughout his career there were a number of different pitchers who he could immediately tell when a changeup was coming due to how they went to their glove.

I remember Jacoby's Mom had alot spunk to her, wasn't the hottest Mom in the world but I'm sure she would be alot of fun.

Every guy in the lineup but Vierling and Sweeney was an Avila guy. Of course most didn't start to develop until the new regime though.
