While I don't expect him to be like that going forward cause if he was that would make him a bonafide superstar but I do have faith that he can settle into the upper 700s and if he does along with his great defense in center that would still make him a damn good player and potential All Star going forward.

Before the season I don't think anybody had Montero being the guy to throw the Tigers first complete game shutout of the season.

Jake Burger is another trade target for me, 28yr with big power from the right side that can handle 1st and 3rd. Also still has a couple years of control left.

I wonder if Tirico felt bad for already having to call Collinsworth out a few minutes earlier for mistaking the Rams kicker with the Lions kicker. Tirico was obviously taking about what the Rams could do if they got the ball back late and Collinsworth was like "Yeah he kicked a 64 yarder in this building". After an awkward pause Tirico had to point out that he was talking about the Rams kicker not the Lions. -
I thought maybe McGonigle could be back in time to make the team but evidently not.

Week One: Los Angeles Rams (0-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-0)

I thought the secondary played pretty good outside of a couple plays most notably the missed tackles on the 1 long completion. Still though it took 49 passes for them to give up 300 yards. When the other team throws that much you're bound to have some plays where you don't look good or get beat. The problem though I thought was that they were playing too soft at times which allowed Staff to get a quick completion. They didn't always go for much but they often kept the Rams "ahead of schedule" in terms of down and distance. -

I saw some things on twitter from people talking about Cooper Kupp "torching" the secondary cause he had 14 catches and 110 yards but in reality he was targeted 21 times so when throwing to him Stafford was 14/21 and only just over 5 yards a throw. As a defense that is considered a win and something you would take every time. -

Without seeing the all 22 footage it's hard to say for sure how he looked but from what I saw I thought Arnold looked good for the most part relative to how most CBs play in their first games. He was grabby and I believe did miss a tackle or two but from memory it didn't appear like he was getting toasted or overmatched like say an Okudah or Darius Slay looked in their early games. -

It may have not mattered anyway but McVay probably should've called a timeout earlier on that drive to give his defense a breather instead of waiting till we got to the goal line. -

Great drive to end up the game and get the W. I of course will gladly take it but it doesn't change the fact that I hate the NFL OT rules, will never seem right to me that a team doesn't atleast get a chance to answer all due to the fact they lost a coin flip. -

I tend to agree but I can also see being aggressive there for the reasons I mentioned and don't think it was that crazy of a decision. -

Considering Bates has kicked a 64 yarder in this building I don't think it was that out of line to try to be aggressive there, all it would've taken was one crossing pattern completion and they would've been in his range. Unfortunately Decker just got beat. -

Hutchinson with just a disastrous penalty. Gonna likely cost us atleast 3 points, and now he whiffs on the sack. -

Atleast Gibbs had the ball clutched pretty good but I still hate when players try reaching for the goal line in situations like that even though I know it's probably just done instinctively....AND now ruled a TD! Nice!! -

Between the Jamo injury timeout, the 2 minute warning and now this review stoppage it has been a LONG last minute of game time. -

Calvin Johnson doing the pre game hype package for SNF.....just throwing it out there. lol -
lol at Antonio Pierce. Raiders down 6 with 7 minutes left in the game and he punts on 4th and 1 at the Chargers 41 yard line! Dan Campbell he is not.

Yeah I probably was underrating the Colts cause even with Love that would be a tough game. I do often wonder though if you are hit with a major injury is it better to have them against elite teams or run of the mill average teams? The reason being that yes against the elite teams you probably need your best players to beat them but if you end up losing it doesn't sting as much since you probably we're going to lose anyway. OTOH against the inferior teams you may not need all your guys but by missing them it gives that team a better chance to upset you which would hurt alot more than losing to a superior team.
-
Love apparently has an MCL strain and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. The Packers have the Colts, Titans, Vikings and Rams the next 4 so not a tough stretch by any means(particularly if he is back by the Rams) but if they were to lose 2-3 of those games that would be tough for them since I'm sure going into the season they were expecting to go atleast 3-1 in that stretch.

Notre Dame losing doesn't quite offset the embarrassing UM loss but it helps some. On a side note I know nothing about ND's kicker or how the game was going but unless he has a monster leg I think I'd rather take my chances with a hail mary. You might get lucky and draw a penalty or get a fluke reception.

Kriedler works a walk which will raise his season OPS of .363. Don't think I've ever seen a non pitcher or early season/extreme small sample lower than that.

Good call ump! Tigers go to the ninth up 2-1.

Michigan Football 2024 aka The Year Michigan has to Defend a Natty
RandyMarsh replied to romad1's topic in College Sports
I know Texas has a ton of talent and has arguably the best QB in the country but with that said the defense really disappointed me today. I knew that our offense was likely to struggle this year, particularly early on since we have so many new pieces but I hoped the defense would still be really good with guys like Grant, Graham and Johnson returning but thus far that hasn't been the case. As far as the QB situation goes I don't know enough about NIL and reasons players go to specific schools but with all the talented and/or previously highly regarded QB recruits that hit the portal and changed teams this offseason it amazes me that Michigan couldn't land one of them. JJ not announcing his draft decision until after the initial portal period and the top guys were taken may have hurt that though.
