  1. Beck says this is the first time since Miggy in 2016 that a Tigers player was selected by the fans or the players so not quite a decade but pretty close.
  2. I wonder if Riley is gonna be one too? In any case with Skubal being named this is the first time in damn near a decade that our All Star rep wasn't a reliever or the token team selection but instead an actual legit All Star.
  3. First time the Tigers have won back to back games in over a month!
  4. Cahna now 1 for his last 30. Also hasn't had an extra base hit in 3 weeks with it being 7 weeks since his last HR, just in total free fall mode!
  5. I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd game I've watched with Carlos Pena and I have to say I really like him. Offers great insight to what a batter is thinking at the plate without going too overboard into the "back in my day" or "what I would do in this situation", brings up past experiences but also speaks in generalities. Definitely the best I've heard for us in awhile.
  6. Yeah I was gonna say Fister too, I vaguely remember us being interested in Ubaldo Jimenez but the Indians ended up getting him so we had to "settle" for Fister. Not sure how accurate those rumors were but that sure turned out great for us. He was especially dominant to finish the 2011 season after we got him.
  7. I'm having a hard time thinking of pitchers, one guy who comes to mind who I don't know if I would say is underappreciated but a guy who carved himself quite a career that may not have been expected is Drew Smyly. Working on nearly a 12 year career now and over 60 million in salary.
  8. On July 4th Aaron Judge currently has a 219 OPS+ only MLB players ever to post a season better than that are Bonds, Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Mantle and Hornsby.
  9. GOAT OFFENSE!
  10. Givony had Flagg number 1 but said that Airious Bailey and Dylan Harper right behind him and of course said all 3 would be number 1 in the 2024 draft.
  11. Tony Phillips is another name that comes to mind, not just for the Tigers but in general. Averaged over 5 WAR a season his 5 years here and put up over 50 for his career yet didn't make a single All Star team. Has to be one of the few guys in history that has 50+ WAR without a single All Star appearance.
  12. Mickey Tettleton comes to mind. Sported a 135 OPS+ the 4 years he was here, I'd imagine there haven't been many catchers in Tigers history that have topped that.
  13. I look up and down other team's lineups when scouring box scores and I swear with the exception of maybe a couple teams every one has atleast 2-3 guys on them where Im like "why can't the Tigers find somebody like this?" Im not including the superstars like Judge, Betts etc.just random guys who were modest international signings, acquired through under the radar trades or drafted after the 1st couple rounds . Like Tyler ONeill and Jarren Durran of the Red Sox for example.
  14. Whoa Kriedler with the 2 run bomb to give the Tigers the lead!
  15. Well you have said that there is no way Skubal is going to resign with us cause of how bad we suck so in that case why wouldn't you trade him for prospects?
  16. Clark and Lee will be our reps in the MLB Future's Game this year.
  17. For as much as we mocked the Tavai pick the fact that he is not only still in the league but getting 3 year extensions shows that he ended up being far more successful than most 2nd round picks.....too bad it all came with another team though.
  18. Givony was looking towards the 25 draft and Flagg, Harper and Bailey the comsensus top 3 with the caveat that all 3 would've been number 1 this year.(not surprising) If it ends up this way with 3 guys separating themselves you just know we're gonna be picking 4th or 5th despite another sub 20 win season.
  19. Ten of those have come in the last 20 games alone. Just pathetic!
  20. For sure but I do find it funny how all you hear about is how young their roster is and how good they are so they are set up for years yet you dont hear that much talk about the Lions despite their roster being almost equally young and filled with more proven young players. All their skill players, best O lineman, 3/4 D line, 1/2 LBs and 4/5 secondary are all 25 and under. With the vast majority of those guys already under control for atleast 3 more seasons along with their sub 30 yr old Pro Bowl QB.
  21. I hope he makes it for the name alone!
  22. I know scoring is way up throughout the league than it was at this point so these numbers aren't necessarily relative but this is still a crazy tidbit to me.
  23. Depends on how much influence Troy Weaver has with his new Wizards job.
  24. This. Not saying Skubal doesn't look more impressive than Fulmer but for every Verlander trade where the prospects don't pan out there is a Fulmer instance where you keep the young pitcher and he ends up flaming out due to injuries. That's why I'm on the fence about the potential Skubal trade, I could see both sides of it, but I will say IF they do trade him I certainly would like the headliner to be more of a sure thing and closer to the big leagues than a 19 year old pitcher with only a half year of success like Franklin Perez was in the JV trade.
  25. To me Duren has no use for this team, not writing him off as a player in general cause he could turn out fine but I view him more as a complimentary piece that isn't going to make a bad team any better. By the time we are competitive(if that ever happens) he will be expensive and not worth the money. Ivey I'm a little more bullish on cause he has shown flashes but you can't ignore the lack of lateral athleticism, so if you don't think he could be a quality number 2 or high end 3 on a playoff team than no point in keeping him either. imo
