  1. I've said before but Manning is who he is in my eyes and that's a back end starter if all goes well. The likelihood he "figures something out" or develops into something better is slim to none as far as I'm concerned.
  2. Yep, they also been consistent with their run scoring. In the last 12 games they've scored 5+ in 9 of them and only once did they score less than 3 and that was the 1-0 win the other day.
  3. Kelly isn't Mike Piazza but in this day and age a catcher with a .740 OPS is nice offensive advantage.
  4. Love that Franyerber swing! I don't want to say the high leg kick of Max concerns me if it works for him but it seems like that is a little obsolete in today's MLB game but maybe I'm forgetting about some guys.
  5. Now lost 8 straight Maeda starts. Kenta had an already obscenely high 5.76 ERA heading into July, so at this stage in the season it would take some work to raise that number and not only has he raised that number in just 2 starts he's raised it by nearly a run and a half. Damn fine work there!
  6. I was gonna say it's Tigers2022, he took Chas' advice and switched allegiances to a successful team.
  7. After how he hit in the COVID year I thought Willi had All Star potential....atleast with the bat. His seemingly lack of position/defense was something that I figured could hold him back but offensively I thought he was capable of doing what he is this year.
  8. I had no problem dealing Paredes, to me I thought he was gonna be a positionless player with little pop. I thought he may end up giving you a plus average but it would be empty. His batted ball data just never indicated that he was gonna develop power, nor did the scouting reports. So basically at the absolute best case scenario I thought he'd be like a Placido Polanco except without the premium up the middle defense. That's not a terrible player but not somebody you'd lose sleep over, especially if you got a young 30+hr hitter in return like you thought you were getting.
  9. Beck says this is the first time since Miggy in 2016 that a Tigers player was selected by the fans or the players so not quite a decade but pretty close.
  10. I wonder if Riley is gonna be one too? In any case with Skubal being named this is the first time in damn near a decade that our All Star rep wasn't a reliever or the token team selection but instead an actual legit All Star.
  11. First time the Tigers have won back to back games in over a month!
  12. Cahna now 1 for his last 30. Also hasn't had an extra base hit in 3 weeks with it being 7 weeks since his last HR, just in total free fall mode!
  13. I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd game I've watched with Carlos Pena and I have to say I really like him. Offers great insight to what a batter is thinking at the plate without going too overboard into the "back in my day" or "what I would do in this situation", brings up past experiences but also speaks in generalities. Definitely the best I've heard for us in awhile.
  14. Yeah I was gonna say Fister too, I vaguely remember us being interested in Ubaldo Jimenez but the Indians ended up getting him so we had to "settle" for Fister. Not sure how accurate those rumors were but that sure turned out great for us. He was especially dominant to finish the 2011 season after we got him.
  15. I'm having a hard time thinking of pitchers, one guy who comes to mind who I don't know if I would say is underappreciated but a guy who carved himself quite a career that may not have been expected is Drew Smyly. Working on nearly a 12 year career now and over 60 million in salary.
  16. On July 4th Aaron Judge currently has a 219 OPS+ only MLB players ever to post a season better than that are Bonds, Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Mantle and Hornsby.
  17. GOAT OFFENSE!
  18. Givony had Flagg number 1 but said that Airious Bailey and Dylan Harper right behind him and of course said all 3 would be number 1 in the 2024 draft.
  19. Tony Phillips is another name that comes to mind, not just for the Tigers but in general. Averaged over 5 WAR a season his 5 years here and put up over 50 for his career yet didn't make a single All Star team. Has to be one of the few guys in history that has 50+ WAR without a single All Star appearance.
  20. Mickey Tettleton comes to mind. Sported a 135 OPS+ the 4 years he was here, I'd imagine there haven't been many catchers in Tigers history that have topped that.
  21. I look up and down other team's lineups when scouring box scores and I swear with the exception of maybe a couple teams every one has atleast 2-3 guys on them where Im like "why can't the Tigers find somebody like this?" Im not including the superstars like Judge, Betts etc.just random guys who were modest international signings, acquired through under the radar trades or drafted after the 1st couple rounds . Like Tyler ONeill and Jarren Durran of the Red Sox for example.
  22. Whoa Kriedler with the 2 run bomb to give the Tigers the lead!
  23. Well you have said that there is no way Skubal is going to resign with us cause of how bad we suck so in that case why wouldn't you trade him for prospects?
  24. Clark and Lee will be our reps in the MLB Future's Game this year.
  25. For as much as we mocked the Tavai pick the fact that he is not only still in the league but getting 3 year extensions shows that he ended up being far more successful than most 2nd round picks.....too bad it all came with another team though.
