  1. Was it Jared Goff or Aaron Judge? When watching live I thought it was the kids yelling each Yankees players name out in the field like they do in the 1st innings at Yankee Stadium.
  2. No K zone or radar gun on the ESPN telecast so perhaps they didn't bring the tech to Williamsport.
  3. Seeing how LLWS players range from 10-12 years old, that means that a portion of these kids weren't alive the last time the Tigers won a playoff game.
  4. I think you open a can of worms by changing Galarraga's game due to an umpire mistake cause maybe there was a perfect game that was benefited by an umpire call? Should those be erased because the umpire screwed up in their favor? Or maybe there were other 1 hitters that were due to a bad call but never got the notoriety cause it wasn't the last out. How about 1 walk no hitters where the walk was due to a bad call? You just never know and you could potentially be opening up all those things if you were to change the ruling of that game cause of an umpire's mistake.
  5. I don't know why I'm saying this cause it's just going to be a jinx but looking at our remaining schedule and we have 17 games against the White Sox, Angels, Rockies and A's. The White Sox are obviously all time terrible but the other 3 are outside of the Marlins the definitive worst teams in baseball. If we can clean up on those games and go something like 13-4 we'd have a strong chance to finish above .500 for the first time since 2016.
  6. Definitely, especially considering Dallas Braden and Phillip Humber threw perfectos right around then and hardly anybody remembers them.
  7. I'll never forget Spring Training 2011, some dude with a duffel bag of **** to be signed trampled over some kids to try to get Verlander and Porcello's autographs, they both told him to p*ss off(maybe not the exact verbiage but something to that extent). Was great to see!
  8. I know you're joking but God help us if/when Goff has a bad game or 2 this year cause takes like this is all you're going to hear from the shock jocks and radio callers.
  9. TP IS BACK! YESS!!!!
  10. Montero's made 4 starts in August and I'd say 3 of them have been good to really good. As a whole he's had a couple really rough starts but even in the ones that he gave up 5 runs in he was still able to go 6+ which isn't good by any stretch of the imagination but atleast it's one of those type of starts where you kinda give your team a chance and don't cripple your bullpen either. Basically I'm just saying in a long winded way that he has been a pleasant surprise and looks like he could be a potential back end starter going forward.
  11. Had no idea Tork got called back up until checking the box score. It sure would be nice if he finished this year like he did last year.
  12. Liranzo getting the Bonds treatment now?
  13. Future generations will call the stereotypical AAAA player an Akil Baddoo.
  14. It's always a catch 22 when it comes to how physical your practices are. On one hand I do believe the harder you go at practice the harder you will go during the games and better you will potentially play. OTOH having practices like that open you up to the possibilities of injuries.
  15. Fangraphs posted an article today about teams records against everybody else but the White Sox. Interesting enough we'd only be a few games of KC and the last wild card spot in that scenario. Really the only difference between us and them is that they are 12-1 against the White Sox and were "only" 5-1. If the schedules were different and we played them 13 times by this point and KC played them 6 we very well could be sitting right where their at in the last WC spot.
  16. I was trying to figure out who "CDIII" was when I read that tweet. Didn't know that was a Davis nickname.
  17. Javy has around a .700 OPS the past few weeks, honestly if he could just maintain something close to that next year it would really help this team.
  18. Urshela has a 4-4 game going and it kinda gets lost behind Rogers 7 RBIs and Carpenter's 2 HRs.
  19. Kerry Carpenter effect!
  20. A Carpenter, Keith, Greene middle of the order is potentially something you can build a lineup around......if they can actually all stay healthy.
  21. Gibbs is his hamstring per Schefter.
  22. Yeah he's done for the season in WM, may beable to play in the AFL though if the Tigers had intentions of sending him there.
  23. Yeah, never played past high school but played at a pretty high level there(not necessarily me but people I played with and against) having made the final 4 in states one of the years and also playing a few years of AAU ball against quite a few guys who ended up making the pros at some level. Anyway I just remember how much better those guys who "only" ended up being minor leaguers looked then guys like me and most other regular players. I remember Chris Getz who is now the White Sox GM was a guy who had a real reputation in our circles and he didn't disappoint the times I faced him. Looked like Mike Trout compared to most of us so seeing how good even these fringe major leaguers or minor leaguers were as teenagers compared to your regular varsity baseball player makes me appreciate just how good everybody in the majors is.
  24. If Goff were to get injured early on and miss the entire season I think it would be highly unlikely we make a deep playoff run no matter who our backup is but what I'm more concerned about is if he suffers a minor injury that causes him to miss 5-6 weeks or something. In that regard I would like to have somebody that could atleast win you 2-3 of those games so your season doesn't go to complete crap. A recent example is Cooper Rush in 2022, he started 5 games when Dak got hurt and he went 4-1 to save Dallas' season from going in the crapper. He wasn't great or anything but he was good enough to win with given the rest of the talent on the team. That's all I'm really looking for in our backup and I just don't see even that with Sudfeld.
  25. IIRC at one point all were within the top 30 on some lists with Tork, Mize and Greene all being in the top 10 on atleast 1 of them. Still though I don't think they had the depth that the system seems to have now in regards to the national lists recognition, as I mentioned above I've seen atleast 8 different guys make some major top 100. I don't think we've had that many different guys get that type of hype before.
