  1. The first president I voted for was Kerry. I was 19. I turned 18 when the US invaded Iraq. Kerry wasn't some inspiring progressive icon but I knew we couldn't have an escalation in Iraq.
  2. A lot of them were from non progressive states. Young people also have to realize that can't get everything they want.
  3. They will sunset it in 10 years or so. I thought overturning Roe was going to be a tough sell but look at where we are now.
  4. The problem is, a lot of those democratic senator were from red states where that legislation isn't popular. Six of those senators were from states who didn't elect a Democrat again; Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
  5. Hopefully the people who didn't vote because the Democrat wasn't appealing enough are satisfied now that Roe is overturned and will be when gay marriage is ended, voting rights overturned, and social security and Medicare eliminated.
  6. Even this meathead gets it. All though I think adding seats to the Supreme Court will be more of an uphill battle.
  7. The firing squad I was referring to was against elected Democrats and not voters.
  8. I think there's a difference between the operations Republicans run and Democrats run. What is the last piece of major legislation the Republicans passed? All the Republicans are for are judges and tax breaks. The Democrats are for passing actual legislation. It seems like we all forgot McConnell's failure in repealing Obamacare. I guess if you look at the operation as confirming judges and legislating from the bench because your ideas are so unpopular, I guess McConnell runs a better operation. It's also easier when your only base are white males vs Democrats who have to represent everyone else and different needs.
  9. Who am I firing on? I'm the one here supporting Pelosi and Schumer and all the elected Democrats and Democrats running in toss up states.
  10. You're right, I missed. Sorry, I don't read your posts very often.
  11. Yeah I'm the one with the AR15 when I still haven't gotten a straight answer on how Biden, Schumer and Pelosi are to blame for the Republicans overturning Roe. Best I got was Pelosi endorsing one representative and Biden making a comment of McConnell being reasonable.
  12. I also don't see Pelosi getting credit for playing McCarthy and getting this J6 committee and two conservatives to serve on the committee.
  13. I think she said this is her last term as speaker. I can't wait for a progressive to become speaker and come up with hit slogans such as defund the police and then blame Pelosi and Schumer.
  14. I'm countering that Republicans are the ones who ended Roe and blaming Democrats is akin to she was asking for it. I'm also arguing that this circle firing squad on Democrats by Democrats will lead to Republicans taking over and further backsliding the US. The focus should be on getting Democrats elected in the states I mentioned who have been on record as supporting an end to the filibuster instead of attacking Democrats for what Republicans did to Roe.
  15. Just remember, the states that are passing anti abortion bills are states with Republican majorities. The state that are passing pro life bills are states with Democratic majorities. California and Massachusetts just passed safe haven laws.
  16. Actually, I take that back. Rubio will end the filibuster when Republicans get control and vote to enact a national abortion ban.
  17. I'll go out on a limb and say Demings is more likely to end the filibuster than Rubio. I know for a fact she will vote to codify Roe unlike Rubio.
  18. Well, it passed by 7 votes already, 218 to 1 by Democrats, you build enough of a majority so that one or two votes doesn't kill the bill. Tell me, what can Pelosi do right now, now that the bill has passed the house several months ago before the endorsement? You complain about leadership, tell me what can she do right now to get it codified by the senate? She literally passed the bill to codify Roe and you can't even acknowledge that she got it done and instead want to complain about an endorsement months after she got the bill passed.
  19. Well, Fetterman is on record as willing to eliminate the filibuster. Flip that from Toomey to Fetterman and you have one more vote for eliminating the filibuster. Not sure who the leading candidate is in WI yet. Val Demings is on record for removing the filibuster. Flipping from Rubio to Demings would be another vote. Tim Ryan is on record supporting removing the filibuster. That's a 3rd vote for removing it. Cheri Beasley has supported removing the filibuster in the past but has been inconsistent on it. Still, there's more potential from her to remove the filibuster than whatever Republican wins North Carolina. That's 5 winnable seats and 5 potential votes to remove the filibuster. It won't happen because too many Democrats are self-loathing.
  20. Democrats could elect more Democrats from states such as PA and WI to eliminate the filibuster but they won't because they are too busy pouting.
  21. Now we're in a fucking purity contest over an endorsement of a representative from Texas long after Pelosi got a near unanimous vote from Democrats to codify Roe.
  22. Pelosi got the bill passed in the house. One more Democrat in the house is meaningless in regards to codifying Roe. The bill passed the house with only one Democrat dissenting. Tell me, how does Pelosi get it passed in the senate? Remember, 49 of 50 Democratic senators passed it in the senate including pro-life Democrat Bob Casey. At some pint, you actually have to start blaming the people who overturned Roe such as all the justices appointed by Republicans and confirmed by Republican majorities.
