  1. Embracing his inner Kirby Puckett.
  2. He doesn’t want to understand. His brain doesn’t function that way. He wants to keep spewing the same stupid irrelevant nonsense.
  3. I don’t advocate signing Rodòn, he was just an example of a high WAR starter in the fantasy related to signing Correa.
  4. Well if you wanted to compare highly rated, very expensive FAs, then something comparing Correa/Baez/?Alexender?maybe Wentz versus Baez/Schoop/Rodòn would make sense to me. Otherwise it’s so apples to oranges that it doesn’t. You might even have enough money left over compared to Correa that you could sign a so-so starter too. 😎
  5. Goalpost move noted. Nobody said anything about a so-so pitcher.
  6. Right, it makes sense to address weaknesses instead of incremental betterment of strengths.
  7. Candelario is not remotely a black hole. I disagree with your three categories (decent/meh/black holes). Baddoo might not do much in 2022, but his 2021 OPS was .766, OPS+ was 113. i see a team with seven regulars that vary from good offense to average, with a few supporting position players that are likely to be a bit below average, but not black holes. You see it differently.
  8. I would also include health in any evaluation. I would rather have 90% production 90% of the time instead of 100%, 60% of the time. Example data only.
  9. How long is Vrana expected to be out?
  10. My dad would have enjoyed this game, had he been alive to see it. He went to Michigan and having played OL in high school, he went out for the squad. Some guy named Ford was the obviously better player and my dad was promoted to team fan for life. Over eighty years ago.
  11. Since we all seem to be agreed that the 5 top SS FAs would be a significant improvement to the team, I would shift the focus to dollars and years. I, like many here, am generally okay with the idea that a star will fade at the end of a long contract. But length does matter (😎). I would like them to sign one of these guys to the shortest deal that still makes sense. For some, like Semien, that is partly age related, but the basic idea is to get the best years they have left in the tank. And also to have the money after the contract is over to apply to other areas of need. We have bemoaned to feast or famine nature of the team’s fortunes and want a more sustainable competitive future. i hope AA is getting all the player asks and options figured out, but that the rare glut of top SSs means they can target a shorter length as a priority. The idea of opt-outs is interesting, but complicates things. TL;DR Find out what the shortest contract each SS will take, rank them with other factors and get one.
  12. He does have a real drunken sailor thing happening at the moment.
  13. And over and over again when in a court of law, the “allegations” of fraud turned out to be baseless. Over and over again the loud talk outside the courtroom got weaker and quieter inside, with timid admissions that no, they had nothing in terms of evidence of fraud. If it had ended there, it would have been bad enough, but instead the majority of the Republicans still continue to lie about voting fraud. None of them have shred of honor. They are thoroughly dishonest people and should be scorned and shown the door at the next election. That shows they do not believe in the rule of law. Instead people like Archie parrot the lies and will keep them in office. No shame. None.
  14. Won’t they have rising arb costs too, soon if not already?

  16. After the way Cleveland has had our number for years, hoping to have this serve as a token for their broken season after we turn the tables.
  17. And the official proceeding was the certification of our elections. Disrupting that is committing violence to our country and constitutional form of government. A mob, even if not all members are actively breaking things, still conveys the menace and threat. Many were violent, and he went along with them.
  18. Eric, you stated something that is morally bankrupt, why not quit trying to defend it?
  19. They made a comeback out here about 15 years ago. Not the fake stuff from the old days, but a mix of show, athleticism, and millennial irony. I think they still are around, with small regional league.
  20. After the letdown against the Twins in the 87 playoffs, I was excited about the Tigers in 88. They were good, even very good…just the BosSox were a little better 😡
  21. Spencer Torkelson has more to do with whether they would pursue Freeman than Miggy does. But you knew that, right?
  22. I had been on cross country flights the week before, and don’t know if that was the infection point, but it did make me more alert to possibilities. I had a scratchy throat and aches/tiredness, congestion. Nothing bad or that unusual for me this time of year. My adult daughter has long covid (it truly sucks), I think that plays into my caution. Plus I’m old. Took a home test and should get the PCR results to verify soon. My girlfriend was also on those flights and we were not isolated from each other before my episode. So far she has tested negative.
