I had similar thoughts watching OSU and Texas with great defenses and inexperienced QB’s continue to go for it on 4th and 2 inside their own territory.

Baseball Expansion discussion, 2025 edition

This is why pro sports are so open to take all that money from DraftKings and FanDuel. -
We don’t know for sure but it’s hard to believe they would be playing hardball coming off a major injury. I couldn’t see them turning down something between the 3/$106 Crosby deal and the 4/160 deal of Myles Garrett if offered earlier this summer before Watt and Garrett.

Parsons is a huge get for GB but nothing has changed in that their season will be determined by how well Jordan Love plays.
-
This Parsons contract has set a new mark for a Defensive player. I’m not sure what Brad was thinking by not getting the Hutch extension done sooner. His deal just got more expensive.

They got the best out of their situation. Who better would’ve been an option? Any slim chance they had of getting a current marquee driver died when Max stayed with RB. That driver would’ve been George Russell who would probably have chosen an existing midfield team over a brand new one.

Great job by Caddy announcing Sergio and Valteri as their maiden drivers. Solid vets that will be great for a new team. New regs coming in next season so who knows they may have a really good car. Both have proven to know what to do when given a top car.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread
Hongbit replied to IdahoBert's topic in Detroit Tigers
I personally see Rainer as the 2nd best prospect in the organization. I think ceiling can be higher than Clark. There are only a handful of major leaguers that I’d trade him for and all but Paul Skenes are untouchable by their current teams. -
Don’t get that at all. They have the best safety combo in football with Branch and Kerby. Arnold should be much improved in season 2 and they signed DJ Reed on the other side at corner. Thats a great defensive backfield. Jack Campbell could get really good very quickly. Anzalone is still great and Barnes was coming on big time before getting hurt. Hutch sounds like he’s back to full strength and that will be huge. Davenport is legit if he can stay healthy. Reader and Tyliek in the middle with Lopez backing them up. Alim will be back sometime in the 2nd half too.

I am absolutely not getting in a debate over the merits of Nate Sudfeld on an NFL roster.
-
Hooker waived. My only fear with this move is they pick up Nate Sudfeld again after he was released from SF. Wouldn’t be surprised to see GB or MIN pick up Hooker just to gain intel on the Lions operation.

“Hey Frank. How’s that retirement thing going?”
-
Amazed that AJ didn’t bunt there.
-
One is trying to live the American dream. The other is rapidly destroying it.
-
I will be very surprised if they keep 3 QB’s. I expect Hooker to be out.
-
The problem is they haven’t signed Hutch yet to his long term deal. That would have to happen before they went out and signed anyone else especially another DE.

I don’t think it has anything to do with UM’s money being a profit center for the NCAA. The cash just means they have the money to sue the NCAA in an actual court of law if they don’t like the ruling or penalties. Tennessee did this exact move and the NCAA folded like a cheap suit at the first sign UT was serious about litigation.
-
NCAA will rule on punishment for the Stalions case today. I am expecting them to accept the prior self imposed sanctions on the team and only give very minor additional punishments like a few less summer practice days or a recruiting weekend. They will come down hard on Stalions, Harbaugh, and the CMU coaching staff.

The rest of the league has to assume that one of the goalie prospects has to go. There will be more rumors on them. With Augustine at MSU again this year there’s no urgency for Stevie to get it done now (Just like everything else in this organization!). I think it waits until next year unless someone blows their doors off, which trading their top prospect like Savoie would definitely quality.

Ideally, they find a way to sign Jamo to a deal they can get out of after 3 years while Teslaa plays on his 3rd round rookie contract. I expect big things on the field from Jamo this season but I’m not as confident that he gets through the year without more outside stuff popping up.

In a normal world, I’d say cmon that’s tongue in cheek and he’s obviously just making a joke. This isn’t a normal world. I have no doubt that he will be naming himself as an honoree next year. There will also be no shortage of bootlicking congressional cucks that will applaud the decision.

The only way that I see this administration caring about Social Security is if there’s a way to make billionaires more money while punishing any previous woke polices and owning libs while doing it.

Got sucked into the 5 hour Billy Joel doc on HBOMax. This was amazing. It’s broken into 2 parts and is done really, really well. I like Billy but I wouldn’t consider myself a fanboy. Easy watch that tells his entire story. I didn’t quite realize the depths of greatness and the complications of his life. What stuck in my head was the contrast in his songwriting process to that we saw of Paul McCartney in the Peter Jackson Beatles doc. These are arguably the 2 best songwriters of our time (can’t be argued that both are at least top 5) and they couldn’t be more different. Paul typically came up with the arrangement first and the filed in lyrics as they came to him. Sometimes just using gibberish to fill the space until he find something that fits his melody. Watching how the lyrics to Back in the USSR came to be was amazing. Billy usually started with lyrics first and then built his composition around it to create the song. He was able to write and compose a few complete songs within a few hours. He typically would write about specific things that happened in his life. You May Be Right came after a single line one of his wives said to him after a night out partying and ringing his motorcycle home in the rain. He often builds his melodies off classical music instead of the traditional folk and blues that we see in most rock. He played Uptown Girl on his piano in a classical style and it did sound like a Rachmaninoff piece. One commonality these two had is after they achieved a pinnacle of success, they quickly got bored of one style of songwriting and would constantly try to change things dramatically from album to album
