  1. The air quality here from the Canadian wildfires is terrible. This is the 2nd straight year we’ve had this problem. I wish there was somebody that could tell those damn Canucks to blow the smoke away from America. If they aren’t willing to do it then maybe we need to send our military in to take care of their problem. They can also stop the massive network of Canadian fentanyl that makes up the .02% of what’s brought into America. 🇺🇸
  2. Looks like Lord Abbott of Texas is taking a page from the King when it comes to ruling his fiefdom.
  3. Hopefully things end up better for Morton than it did the last C-Mo we had.
  4. Managing the cap is easier than it’s ever been. It’s barely a hindrance anymore. It continues to go up at a ridiculous pace. It has gone up nearly $100M in just the 5 years after Covid. The league just signed a massive new deal with ESPN that will drive it up even more.
  5. I feel the exact same as I did with Garrett, Crosby, or Hendrickson. I’d give them 3 or 4 1st’s. Brad was on a Rams staff that showed that you maintain and improve a strong existing core by trading high picks for veteran pro bowlers. These picks will be in the late 20’s or early 30’s. It’s not the same as a top 10 pick.
  6. They were touting 147,000 jobs gained in June. Turned out it was only 14,000. Actually, it wasn’t even that since the numbers will get adjusted a final time when they get their annual adjustment for the end of the year. The reality is that we lost jobs in June instead of gaining near 150k. Dow was up 344 points and Nasdaq 1% on the day the cooked numbers were announced.
  7. Another day. Another post on how ****ing flawed these BLS reports are. When will the media and markets start treating these numbers Ike the made up garbage they are. Every month is the same. “Hey, surprise beat on jobs. The economy is doing better than we thought”. Stocks rally. Fast forward a few months and here comes an adjustment and it turns out that was a mistake in the poll and not some positive surprise in the numbers.
  8. AJ doesn’t use a closer
  9. The Tigers are the only team in MLB where their entire division has thrown in the towel. Everyone else sold and essentially conceded the playoff spot. They didn’t need to be as aggressive as others today since they aren’t fighting to secure a playoff spot. Everyone else has to put pedal to metal just to ensure they get in. Playoffs are a crapshoot either way. You can’t just build the best team and expect to win the World Series. They could’ve added Suarez, Miller, and Bednar today and it still wouldn’t improve their chances of winning it all. Definitely would’ve helped get them in the playoffs but that’s not an issue.
  10. Darn. Used up all my likes today.
  11. I’m not saying they fire sale but why aren’t they shopping Ozuna or Iglesias. Neither are going to be back next year. Ozzie Albies struggles this year brings his future into question even as Atlanta has affordable team options the next 2 years on his deal. Drake Baldwin looks like their catcher of the future and that makes Sean Murphy expendable.
  12. AJ Preller is the Angel Hernandez of GM’s. I guess he learned nothing from the Soto trade.
  13. Does that open up an opportunity for Suárez for us?
  14. What’s Atlanta doing? They are so out of it and have many valuable pieces. I haven’t heard many of their guys mentioned in deals.
  15. The day is still young. I think he will prove you wrong and trade some of the prospects outside the top 7 for a Bednar, Keller, or Alcántara. Maybe even 2 of them. 🤞
  16. I wonder how deeply Seattle is thinking about pushing all in and offering a few of their untouchable prospects for Jose Ramirez. They would have the strongest lineup in MLB.
  17. I agree that desperation is a terrible strategy and the sign of a chaotic organization. I don’t see the Mariners trading prospects #9, 16, 17 from a farm rated in the top 5 as desperate. The same would apply to the Tigers had they chosen the same tact.
  18. This year is all we needed from him. He’s cranking bombs and driving in runs. It’s a big add for the M’s.
  19. True. They definitely value defense and position flexibility far more than I do. Suarez is not a complete player. He’s absolutely all bat. I don’t think there’s much debate over the value he’d have as a RH power bat in our lineup between Riley and Carp. He’s leading baseball in RBI and 5th in HR. Top 5 in SLG and Top 10 in OPS. These are all areas we could use a big bump in the lineup and there are no injured players coming back that may be able to help.
  20. I hope it doesn’t take all weekend to get your 6 runs.
  21. Agree. M’s got Suárez by trading their 9th, 16th, 17th prospects. We had the players to beat this deal without doing any harm to our very deep system. I’m getting the sense Harris loves his prospects so much that he may never be a guy to be active on big deals at the deadline (especially for rentals).
  22. I would’ve said yes to that in less than 2 seconds.
  23. They are just a Jose Ramirez gambling investigation away from one.
  24. Unless the team is sold, there’s zero chance the A’s keep him all 4 years. Remember, while his term is controlled, the salary is not. The way he’s playing, there’s a good chance he’s going to get raises every year in arbitration. His number could go way up and outside of what they are comfortable paying as soon as this offseason Also, he’s going to demand an early extension. He’s earned it through his play and there a ton of teams out there that would’ve already given it . The A’s don’t have that kind of money to commit to any closer. Bottom line, they will almost certainly be trading him at some point in the next 2 1/2 years.
