We’ve talked a lot about Michigan’s schedule masking how good they really are. The same is true for the Bucks. This is not a typical physical Ohio St. OL. A much better match from USA yesterday. I liked Gregg making the formation adjustment. The defense was excellent and they even managed to overcome their 2nd Zimmerman moment in as many games. I’m still confused how this team is going to score goals. The haven’t figured out to effectively connect and finish on any crosses. Pulisic continues to serve great balls into the right places but nobody can get a head or leg on it. This is more than just bad luck as they are lacking players that can finish.

I thought they played their best game of the season when you account for the level of the opposition. Very consistent on both sides and we are seeing this defense get better right before our eyes. I thought Campbell and staff were terrific yesterday. Aggressive early and the a little more cautious late when they needed to be. No issues with the time management. It worked out great until they were stymied by the review on thr AmonRa 2nd down catch. The 11 seconds they added that the Lions didn’t need came back to hurt them in the end. The 3rd down play was a great call. It was open and they just didn’t execute. That’s not on the coaches. I also like they didn’t play prevent and instead played deep zone. Joseph makes that play more often than not. This team is starting to buy in. Now for the real test. Home against a team they are favored against that everyone expects them to win. We know as Lions fans how these situations usually work out. A win next week is proof this regime isn’t SOL.

This is such an awful take. They were a big underdog dog and It took a perfect play to beat them at the end. Joseph breaks up that pass 9 times out of 10.

That’s quite a turn in 5 days from Vegas to Abu Dhabi. Literally halfway around the world.

We are both just speculating. We don’t know the real intention of this bonus. It’s a tiny piece of his massive contract so it is possible to be a slush fund, or it could be intended to help pay lower level assistants, or something completely different that we haven’t mentioned. It’s even possible that it was paid out the wrong way by someone in accounting. I’ve had this happen in the past when we wrote up complex contracts. We understood the terms but the AP clerk didn’t and just paid out what they thought and moved on to the next check. Yes, It could be a bad look if the assistants are pissed but that was back to my original point on the reporting.

Of course he has expense accounts for normal business expenses but lets say he wants wings in Atlanta. The university won’t cover that. I’m also not sure how they feel about copious amounts of alcohol in bars. MSU is a public entity and technically all financial records are public. This could be a way to maintain some type of discretion even at a the cost of a personal tax liability.

Can’t tell if this is click-bait journalism where someone read the contract and made an assumption or did they actually have a source that the other coaches are pissed off? I could easily see a situation where this is a bonus paid to Mel that he uses to cover expensive dinners and events for the coaches when they are on the road.

My numbers are wrong. I just realized that year round, 10% of time is spent reminiscing about teams and players from years ago since that’s all we really have positive to talk about.

The Fan changed format a few years ago so there’s only 1 sports talk channel. There is almost zero Pistons or Wings talk all year round. I suspect that will change a bit when they get better. My best estimate on coverage. Football season that leaves 70% Lions, 20%UM/MSU, 5% General NFL, 5% gambling. Spring it’s 50% Lions off-season and draft and 50% Tigers Summer is 75% Lions and 20% Lions and 5% UM preseason hype.
