$50 says the Stroll kid picks his nose.

How many lobs can he catch in a game? I guess he also takes up space on around the basket and give Ja more room to operate. Not sure Eddy’s going to get the same love from NBA refs that he got from the Big Ten. He was a beast at the line.

I meant to post something similar last week. I can’t remember something that came out of nowhere and take off and be literally be everywhere in under 48 hours.

I don’t get the love for the traditional bigs in the lottery. Neither guy looks overly athletic or have the ability to step outside. We saw what happened to Gobert in the playoffs when teams matched up and forced him outside on defense. What do I know but not sure how anything is different with Clingan or Edey.

Opt out? This is life or death, Ben!

It feels more like Iowa vs. Minnesota in the snow. These are possibly the two worst public speaking presidents of our time. I’m not sure how much actual substance will come out it and we’ll be left with clips of Biden looking old and Don repeating the same mismash over and over again and of course mentioning Hannibal Lecter.

Didn’t we draft the same guy last year?

Most definitely but Alpine is better than the current choices of Williams or Sauber.

Since they are legalizing everything else. Put on some Peter Tosh and spark one up.
-
Yet another huge change from the NCAA. It seems like they have given up and are legalizing anything that needs enforcement.

Stevie definitely has something good cooking

Shame for Edmonton that it took them until game 4 to figure out to go upstairs on Bob. They were stymied many times by him on breakaways trying low in the first few games.

Bob is going to find it again. Game 7 SO Florida 3-0

20234-24 14-68. Now what? (The 2024 Offseason thread)
Hongbit replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Pistons
Langdon is in a nice situation since the bar is so low. 28 wins is a horrendous season for an NBA team. Pathetic by all standards. Yet, he’s an absolute star if he can hit this number which he should be able to do while he’s acquiring assets and draft picks for the future. -

Another thing that Pistons fans underestimate with Cade is his health. He’s only played 64, 14, and 62 games in 3 seasons. This is a giant potential issue going forward. I’m not sure what AA will do but he needs to put as much thought into trading him as he does extending him. -

Matt Roy would be a perfect piece on the blue line. LA would love to keep him but they don’t have the cap space. He will have a strong market and probably gets something in the low to mid $6’s. Don’t think he’ll take a hometown discount but possibly. Very meh on Martin Jones as he seems the same as all of the goalies they’ve acquired recently and probably a little worse than Lyon. Goalies are weird. Some journeyman steps up massive every year that nobody saw coming. Maybe he’s that guy next season. Not sure Marchessault has the same enthusiasm of coming here as Prashanth. He’s been on some nice playoff runs recently and would seem to want to go to an established contender. Not sure Stevie is going to do $7m for 3 as suggested to tempt him but maybe. They have the cap space.

Only the internet rumors for me. Nothing inside but figured lots of it had to do with him fighting for his job. It’s a terrible thing to say because mental health is very serious but I have real doubts if his leave of absence was really that and not a forced step away for bad behavior.

PGA commish Jay Monahan is so much more of a phony. He’s so shady that it’s shocking to believe that he’s not the tour in bed with Trump. They are con men of the same kind. Someone is going to make a documentary about him and all the behind scenes stuff will come out and people will be shocked at what he was able to control and manipulate. He’s done such damage to the tour. A better leader and the tour isn’t in this situation fighting for their future but Jay is still at the helm and his bank account is bigger than ever.

What a difference a week makes… I can hardly believe it myself but here we are and Bryson DeChambeau is the most popular golfer in the world. Crazy. LIV was dead in the water before Pinehurst and a few missed gimmes and an amazing sand shot has given them life. They are maybe in the best shape they’ve ever been. Nobody is watching on their crap TV deal but the crowds look big and alive at their Nashville stop this week. The bigger news may be there was no expected announcement of the PGA/PIF deal this week. Lots of rumors that it may not even be happening now. That would be a big problem for the PGA. Not sure they win a money war against the Saudis especially if their top players aren’t on their best game. It would be another a huge blow if a LIV golfer can win the British Open. Jon Rahm is going to get healthy and find his game sometime soon. It better not be him at Troon.

I get that culture is word that is often tossed around in business and organizational development without a clear definition. Harris was very clear in what kind of culture he wanted. His quotes form his intro presser: When I think of Detroit, I think of trying to create an environment that inspires players to want to get better and to put in all the work that they can to get better,” Harris said at his introductory press conference Tuesday at Comerica Park. “It also means creating an environment around those players -- support staff, technology, coaching, development -- environments that inspire these players to get better. So when I think of the Tigers of the next few years, I think of free agents who may look to go to various places across our great game. When they think of Detroit, I want them to think of an environment where they are confident they can come and get better, they can perform at a higher level, they can lengthen their careers, they know they are going to be surrounded by people in this organization that are going to get the absolute most out of them.” I’ve been very lucky to work with Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Farhan Zaidi and many others,” Harris said. “One of the things they taught me very clearly is, if you’re going to do the same thing as every other organization, you’re probably not going to do it as well as they are, and you’re probably going to be chasing them the whole time. They taught me that it’s important to differentiate yourself and your operation. “It’s probably not that strategic to share what I think we can and should do here to differentiate ourselves. But if you look back at our track records in San Francisco and Chicago, that spirit of innovation and finding ways to differentiate yourself in creating that culture of development is something that carried us, and it’s something that is one of the reasons why we had so much success in those places.”

It’s not even about the actual W and L results. I was never expecting it to get better quick but we are almost halfway in and zero percent of his culture change is apparent. I do agree the Flaherty trade and any other deadline deals will be big indicators.
-
It would be foolish for anyone to expect meaningful change to happen quickly but we are a year and a half in there are no returns. Nothing of his philosophy is apparent on this organization. Nothing of what he wanted this organization to develop has occurred. The only snippet that has been apparent is his overzealous retaining of Colt Keith prior to playing a major league game. I’m not bailing on the guy yet. There’s still plenty of time for all 3 of his core tenants to happen but early returns are much like his teams plate discipline.
