Figured it’s about time we had a thread dedicated to Golf. Whether that’s the pro tours or everyone’s rec game. Lots going on in this world for sure. The US Open starts tomorrow at Pinehurst. It looks like the USGA is back to its typical brutal Open setup after they tamed LACC last year. Hot weather and lightning fast greens will make for difficult conditions. Not sure how anyone matches Scottie but don’t count out Bryson. He’s playing well and this course suits his game.

They have 2 very promising young goalie prospects. Cossa is 2 and maybe even 3 years ahead of Augustine and will get the first shot. I think he’ll be given the chance to play some this year and maybe even take the reins as the top guy if he’s able to take advantage. If not then it’ll be next year for sure. Either way, it’s important to give Cossa a really good look over the next two seasons. If he steps up a becomes the guy for the future, they can figure out what do with a super talented young Augustine. If not, they can repeat all over again with Trey and hope for a better result . It’s definitely a good problem to have.

Vasilevskiy is not available but the emergence of Jeremy Swayman has made put the 2023 Vezina winner, Linus Ulmark on the market. The Wings won’t and shouldn’t pony up the cost but he will get moved this summer.

I’d agree with most players but Skubal is unique. A lefty power pitcher that is at the top of his game. He very well could be the difference in a team going to the WS or not. You play your cards right at the deadline and pit the contenders against each other, you will get someone to bite for a ridiculous package. The fear of losing him to a rival vying also fighting for the pennant will get more for him at the deadline than in the winter.

Just like that Edmonton comes to life. Bob is something else. They are going to need a deflection in front or some McJesue magic to score.

I’d prefer to sign Skubal to a huge deal and make him a core part of the rebuild. If the GM doesn’t see the window opening for 3 seasons, he’s probably more valuable trading him as he would bring back an elite prospect and something else.
