Defense doesn’t matter at all for 82 games. It’s a pointless exercise to build a team focused on defense but once the postseason starts and you are matched up in a series, guess what, defense becomes supremely important again. This league is in such a ****ed place. The players are so skilled and the talent level is higher than it’s ever been but the game is so flawed. It just doesn’t make much sense.

Assuming that Al saw himself as some sort of expert at International player signing and would never think about trading from that pool.

I’d be very surprised if NIL money wasn’t the main reason.

They have already self punished with multiple coaching suspensions and even a few dismissals I expect there will be a 2 week period in the summer where coaches aren’t allowed to recruit and one weekend where UM can’t host recruits That’s it.

I’m pretty confident that a guy with 25 years in high level scouting and player personnel roles with the Lions before the arrival of Brad Holmes had very little to do with the talent turnaround here. Then again what does a schmo like me know. Maybe his genius took a while to emerge. Greatness can come at any time, even after 27 years on the job. He was highly recommended to the Commanders from NFL front office legend Martin Mayhew. I also wouldn't be surprised if Matt Millen himself didn’t call in a recommendation to his old team on Lance’s behalf.

I agree and I disagree. OL is the engine of this teams success. They need to keep feeding it. Yes, if they mess it up, they **** up the Super Bowl chances. Jonah Jackson is very average. He had a good year in 2021 and hasn’t been at that level since. I also don’t think he’s that tough. Ragnow will play through anything and Jackson will sit at almost anything. Let’s let someone else pay him. His production should not be hard for Brad to replace and improve on.

2024 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread
Hongbit replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Detroit Tigers
I know they say honesty is the best policy but some things are better left unsaid -
The return of Carlos Pena.

It’s a good thing the communities of Jackson, Northville Township, Southgate, and Walled Lake didn’t choose to support, aid, and harbor one of world’s deadliest terrorist organizations.

Smart to not waste time as Jeremy Allen White seems poised to be the next big thing and will move past starring on the show.

I’d love to give Bosa a try for the next 2 years. They could get creative with the coming Goff and ASB extensions and backload the money to be able to afford Bosa’s $28m without much of an issue.

I’m not sure USC wouldn’t have come without fUCLA (you guys need to learn this now since they are in conference) but the logistics of playing any sport other than football probably wouldn’t work out.

Logic rears its ugly head again. 😊 You and I may see the reality of the situation but I promise you that Mark Davis doesn’t see this Raiders team as rebuilding. I bet he truly believes they are just a player or two away from the Super Bowl next year. He believes that haircut looks good too.
-
They probably should listen but the Raiders would immediately say no. You used logic and in doing so broke rule #1 when talking about the Raiders. If it makes sense to everyone else, they are probably doing something different.

He’s already got a football plaything in the Dolphins. Michigan is his side piece.

Too bad 80’s corporate raider T Boone Pickens isn’t alive for this era. He poured in hundreds of millions trying to get Oklahoma State football to be a power. He actually paid to build the entire stadium. I can’t imagine how crazy he’d go if he could get the money right to players and recruits.

Oregon has deeper pockets than Ohio State. Phil Knight is the perfect benefactor and has poured millions into players this offseason. They got 2 of the top portal QB’s, the top WR and CB. He also personally ensured their head coach didn’t go Alabama. That’s big, big dollars and I think he’s just getting started and will write whatever checks it takes to get Oregon their first title.

They keep the initials on to remind the curse that he’s dead.

Notice who this letter is signed by? She is no longer Sheila Ford Hamp. She dropped the Ford from her name on official team business sometime last year and look what’s happened. This was Shiela’s best move to date narrowly beating out letting Chris Spielman hire MCDC and Brad.
