  1. He is easily triggered. Comes across like Tigers PR.
  2. the good old days when these two teams were pretty, pretty, good.
  3. If everything goes well/as planned, here are the starters I believe we have in the organization: -Mize, Skubal, Manning, Jobe Many who fall in the might be a starter-or-reliever category: Olsen, Brieske, Faedo, Hill, Englert, Flores, Madden, D. Smith, Hurter—probably a few others I eliminated ERod (likely opt-out), Lorenzen and Boyd (one-year rentals) from this. The point is that we have few clear cut SP, and all have experienced injuries this season. Adding Skenes, who appears to be a sure starter, could only help our depth. of course, I still prefer Crews or Langford if they are there at #3
  4. I prefer the college outfielders, but won’t cry if it’s Skenes. I think we have more hitters in the minors than potential starting pitchers.
  5. Anyone know why Greene was in the Tigers dugout yesterday? Perhaps they planned to give him the day off in Toledo, and he drove up to hang with the Varsity?
  6. This. We’ve been deluded into thinking this team is a contender based on the ****ty division we’re in. We’re not. It’s not in our best interest to force matters by bringing players up prematurely. For me, it’s just getting more AB’s and innings for players who could be part of our long term future (Tork, Carpenter, Greene, Rogers, Vierling, Manning, Skubal, Olsen, Lange, Foley and Vest).
  7. I think we get swept cause it’s 2023. Of course if we do what we should, we will make nice inroads to getting to .500
  8. With Greene DHing, I assume his rehab assignment will go a bit longer.
  9. Probably tempting to send Olsen down to keep him stretched out, but I’d like to see him in the pen.
  10. Thanks. Not really much of a loss as it turned out. Holton replaced him for the league minimum and is cheap and controllable for a few more years, assuming he keeps his production up.
  11. The Castro boys exacting their revenge this season. Scamps!
  12. It would be nice if our offense could create enough run differential that we didn’t require a closer for so many of our victories.
  13. Does anyone know?
  14. I’m pretty sure that Javy would not like what you’re saying about him.
  15. That’s why it’s not sustainable.
  16. Chafin negotiated his contract and opted out after a year.
  17. I think bullpen games, while a necessary evil, work in the teams best interest for that game. Relievers can go all out for an inning or two and the lineup only sees them once. Advantage to the pitchers. However, it’s clearly not a sustainable model based on roster size and most starting pitchers rarely going past 6-7 innings. When I see we have a bullpen game, I fully expect us to be in a great position to win the game.
  18. We don’t know that. The previous regime cut ties with players with guaranteed contracts, and I would think Harris will too. Schoop apparently isn’t blocking anyone yet—seems the team doesn’t think Lipcius, Keith or Malloy are ready. Heck, we brought Nevin back with his really poor MLB track record. I could see Schoop getting cut in the back half of the season, if necessary.
  19. He’s with the club, so there doesn’t appear to be any animosity. I think he’ll pitch—he basically needs to re-establish his value if he hopes to score in free agency.
  20. Probably about time for us to re-acquire him
  21. I don’t think the Tigers want Eduardo to opt out. He’s on a team friendly deal, relative to more recent free agent deals. I think everyone expects him to exercise it—for the same reason.
  22. Would be nice to reward him and get his feet wet as a September call-up.
