  1. Stumbling in here late—did we land DeJong yet?
  2. You’d think Tigers PR was doing a Twitter Takeover, but it’s just Lynn being Lynn.
  3. I hate all of you for putting me in the position to defend Avila, but we were celebrating that he had struck quickly to address C and SP. We really don’t know where negotiations are with many players who are still out there. The frenzy over the last two days makes it seem like we’re being left behind, but that may not be the case. I won’t say “trust in Al” (ever), but we shouldn’t despair either.
  4. you might be right. I don't understand the panic. There are other ways to solve for your SS. I'd still like to see us grab Story, but it's likely going to take close to a Semien deal to get there, which I'd be fine with. Correa is going to get 10 years/$350M. Not sure Taylor is good enough to play SS full-time--if that's the case, why spend that much for him to fill in as a super utility guy? I prefer we don't spend on the OF this year--I'm good with Greene and Grossman in the corners, and Hill, Cameron and Baddoo battling it out in CF.
  5. not advocating it, but if the Tigers decide to pivot and spend on an elite pitcher (vs. one of the elite SS), they might consider trading for an elite SS prospect.
  6. seems like this, along with the other 3 signings, could knock the Mets out of pursuing a Baez reunion, but Cohen is such a wild card that it's foolish to predict.
  7. I didn't list him because I'm not sure he would command a top SS prospect, but ideally he'd be the one you trade. I was thinking about guys who are blocked (CJ Abrams/Padres) or could be had based on their teams plans (Anthony Volpe, Oswald Perazo--both NYY).
  8. If we sign Ray, would the Tigers use Mize or Skubal to get their next SS from a team that has minor league options, ie, Yanks and Padres?
  9. Lindor was unique—probably a top-10 MLB player heading into 2020. He benefitted from a new owner who wanted to make a splash and become a hero within the Twitterverse,
  10. Only if there are enough suitors. Can’t remember an off season with 5 all-star caliber players at the same position (besides maybe OF) were available. I just don’t see the market.
  11. Why? If he gets hurt? Chances are he will again in his career, but there is zero evidence that’s certain. He has the same chance any other player has.
  12. 😄 that’s why I don’t see the Angels spending on a position player.
  13. Almost no one would draw that conclusion, based on the last two seasons and no appearance of any chronic/long term injury. But go ahead and die on that hill.
  14. This again? Enough of Correa being injury prone—he played in over 90% of his team’s game the last two seasons.
  15. Maybe. They weren’t moving Crawford off SS, but were looking at the other guys as a 2B. Frazier could satisfy that, or they could use him in a super utility role. Would be good news, though if there is one less suitor.
  16. Agreed. Always speaks with confidence, but no clue if he has any true access or credibility.
  17. Hopefully someone with the Tigers is floating the Baez rumor to get the attention of the other agents. The Tigers have to be one of the top 3 destinations for the free agent SS, based on payroll flexibility and need.
  18. Think he gets more than Matz? We were in the mix for him.
  19. Would the Reds let us rip them off a 2nd time this offseason? And why stop at acquiring just 2 SS?
  20. Today, I’m thankful that the last five year rebuild is over. Also thankful for Barnhart, ERod, and eventually, Carlos Correa and Alex Cobb. And the arrival of Greene and Tork in 2022. But most of all? Extremely grateful that Tony LaRussa is still managing the White Sox.
