  1. Matt Boyd doubled his salary by pitching 13 innings. At least JV won the CY.
  2. That was actually my first reaction. He just left the WS Champs for more money.
  3. Harris must love taking over a team devoid of any tradeable talent at the same time that the free agent market has pivoted back to a player's market. Especially after Avila signed the absolute worst option at SS last year.
  4. Trea Turner says, "hold my beer."
  5. we just paid $10M for Boyd, who has pitched 13 innings over the last two seasons. deGrom received $185M in spite of dealing with significant arm injuries over the last couple of seasons. It's a pitchers market--think of all of the injuries that teams have dealt with (it's not just the Tigers). the fact that Erod has stayed healthy and effective, and on a team-friendly contract, will likely make him more attractive than we probably originally thought. I'd prefer to keep him--we still need competent pitchers to provide innings. However, if teams get goofy, we should be willing to take advantage of that.
  6. heard that, too. with the early appearance that starting pitching is at a premium, and teams are willing to pay, ERod might be more attractive in a trade than I originally thought. He's on a very team friendly contract and is still a good pitcher. His personal situation and opt-out might scare some teams off, and ultimately, we still need guys to pitch next year. But, if a team were to make an attractive offer, it might be tempting. I would not move him in a distressed way--if the interest isn't strong, keep him because we'll need his innings.
  7. let me know if you want me to set up a Zoom.
  8. Until the steroid guys contemporaries are on the committee (the guys who played in the 1990-2000's, i.e., Jeter, Ortiz, etc...), I don't see them getting in. No way that the pre-steroid era guys would allow them in--Tram, Sandberg, Morris, etc...
  9. Pisses me off that the steroid boys probably bumped Whitaker from that list.
  10. I’m not thinking playoffs (yet). Just trying to gauge what our final record could look like.
  11. It’s been said before, but I love having a shitty, beat-up Rams #1 pick so I can enjoy each Lions win and care less about our own pick potentially falling outside of the top-15.
  12. 40 points is impressive, but holding the Jags to 14 (so far) is equally impressive, especially when you consider our defensive issues earlier in the season.
  13. We’re going to turn this into an eight minute possession. Great mastery of the clock.
  14. He needs to leave the Avengers and focus on football 100%
  15. If you follow the flawed logic, it’s because we don’t have his replacement already identified by December 4th. Which probably means we won’t be able to find a suitable successor. We’re completely screwed now.
  16. Respectfully disagree with your interpretation of risk. Holding on to the same player, who you have control over, is taking very little risk. Dumping that same underperforming player with the idea that you have an entire offseason to replace that anemic performance is really not much of a risk, either, as Candy set an incredibly low bar to improve upon. And it’s a lazy and uninformed take to suggest that the Tigers are going on the cheap because they refused to give a raise to a crappy employee.
  17. Not sure why Reynolds is asking for a trade—could be a personality conflict or just sick of playing on a shitty team. If it’s the latter, he wouldn’t be happy here, either. We don’t have the assets to get a player of his caliber anyway. Harris is gonna have to McGuyver this roster for the next couple of seasons. Is Scott Hatteberg still playing?
  18. DJ had over 3.0 last year. He’d more than make up for Candelario.
  19. Finally! Excited to see what Pierschbacher can do.
  20. I’ll bet our 3B is someone we haven’t even considered yet, like a DJ LeMaheiu-type veteran that we get in a salary dump trade, where we don’t need to give up much, or get a nice prospect in the package.
  21. Let me help you make sense of the decision not to give Jeimer a raise: .217 batting average and .633 OPS. Pretty sure that Zach Short could give us that. You guys are like a bunch of millennials who expect a participation trophy for each of our players. Personally, I don’t want to sit through another bullshit season with the same group of underperformers.
  22. Let’s not forget that Harris has stated he’d like to find a LH bat for the infield. With Tork, Schoop and Baez, 3B is where you solve that.
