I don’t see how they are related. Both can and should make the team. At this point, I don’t think they are concerned about how many AB’s Javy gets. He’ll still play a lot everywhere. If Javy and Vierling are largely bench/utility guys, do we really need Jones?
I think that McGonigle will be the starting SS, with Baez spelling him on occasion vs tough lefties. Keith will be the starter at 3B. Baez will get plenty of AB’s moving around in CF, SS, 3B and DH.
Odd man out will be Wenceel.
This is their Super Bowl year. Last place schedule, young core, gifted skill players and Brad cooking’ in the Draft—we are poised for a special year.
