Hard to say, but a team trading for him would have wanted to avoid arbitration, so something could happen now.

I’ll bet on one or more of the following 3B candidates emerging this season: Keith, Baez, McGonigle, Vierling. Jung, Lee and Anderson. I think we’ll be OK

Someone is coming. Probably waiting to see how much Skubal will get in arbitration. Might also wait until they can put Jobe or someone else on the 60-day DL to open a 40-man spot without sacrificing anyone.

The Miggy decline years definitely saddled Avila and the Tiger managers of that era. They were in a no-win situation. I think Harris, if he had been in control, would have cut him prior to 500 HR and 3K hits. He doesn’t strike me as anyone who cares about tradition or nostalgia.

No one inherited a worse situation than DD did. Those were bleak days as a Tigers fan.

Of course, why is this even being debated? Even Ilitch Jr would shoot him out of a cannon if he suspected that Harris was phoning it in with the Avila holdovers.

I’m not defending Harris’ performance (which I agree has been spotty), but his motives. I disagree with the notion that he doesn’t care about the active roster and only for the players he’s drafted.

We thought this last year, and I’d say they all rose to the challenge. I think the microscope is more on Meadows and Keith this season.
