  1. Not sure that’s true, Had a good season and only making $6M. A cash strapped team like the Padres should be interested. The Mets would likely surrender Vientos for him. A cost-effective way to get 160-170 quality innings.
  2. Agree. Would prefer Valdez or Suarez, of course, but Bassit or Giolito would make the team better.
  3. Don’t use McGonigle as a comp. Complete fluke that the Tigers got him and that he ended up as good as he is. Think typical 2nd rounder as what we’d likely yield.
  4. He’d make a great reliever. Seemed to struggle after the first time through the lineup.
  5. I don’t see the Tigers paying Mize $22M for even one season. They only let him go 3 innings in the playoffs—confidence doesn’t appear to be high. Once the free agent starters finally sign, I think Mize’s market will materialize. The Mets and Padres are viable options.
  6. Yes, but they couldn’t hide him in the 40 man roster this offseason.
  7. Worked out pretty well the last time we sold at the deadline. #pitchingchaos
  8. I still think Mize will be dealt this offseason.
  9. Great—now we have to face him in the World Series
  10. The knock against JHM was that he could only hit in the postseason.
  11. That’ll buy a lot of soda
  12. Lottery ticket. I’ll allow it.
  13. Awful news. I had wondered if something was wrong as he hadn’t updated his podcast in a few months.
  14. Let’s not forget the many injuries this year to key players/positions. We had two of top 6 safeties in the league. Not sure any other teams in the NFL could have scratched out a winning record against one of the most difficult schedules in the league.
  15. Could we have drafted sooner than the 16th pick had we lost?
  16. Have to assume we won’t have Decker, Glasgow, Joseph. Branch, Anzalone and LaPorta next season. Need to identity their replacements.
  17. A depleted Lions team dominating on the road? Best coached team in the NFL
  18. I like when the Lions dominate their opponent, LP Fan goes away. If the Bears come back, so will he.
  19. I put together this positional depth chart, which the order can be debated, intended to demonstrate the volume of options, current and upcoming: C : Dingler, Rogers, Valencia, Nido, Liranzo, Briceno 1B: Torkelson, Keith, Valencia, Briceno 2B: Torres, Keith, Baez, McKinstry, McGonigle, Anderson, Lee, Jung, Cruz SS: Baez, McKinstry, McGonigle, Sweeney, Rainer, Cruz 3B: Keith, McKinstry, Vierling, Baez, McGonigle, Anderson, Jung, Lee, Cruz LF: Greene, Vierling, Jones, Cruz CF: Meadows, Vierling, Perez, Clark RF: Carpenter, Perez, Vierling, Jones, Clark If we acquire a Bregman or Bichette, for example, these are the players who become displaced for at least 2026: Keith (primarily becomes the DH), Anderson, Lee, Jung, and maybe McGonigle. I think this depth, particularly in the infield, is a main reason that Harris is reluctant to commit a 5-6 year contract to Bregman or Bo. The opportunity to upgrade our lineup is in the outfield.
  20. Not far. Bregman had an abysmal finish to last season. Would have fit in nicely with the rest of our lineup, but would not have helped.
  21. Is that our old friend, McCosky?
  22. I’m not ready to write off Sweeney or Jung. See Torkelson, Spencer 2025.
  23. I disagree that the Paredes trade was pure garbage—at the time it was mostly celebrated. Not sure that you can anticipate a young ball player who was playing at a high level having mental health challenges that would prevent him from ever playing again. I can’t think of one other MLB player in that situation, so it’s easy to call that one bad luck.
