  1. Weather looks good and they should have cold beer so you can make a night of it still !
  2. I think that was part of Harris thinking, I'm not signing him long term anyway, but your correct he has played much better than Harris anticipated also and the trade bounty is a missed opportunity. I would not have retained him and I was wrong also.
  3. Would you offer him 4 years and 40 to 50 million this off season ?
  4. I think this was a major part of Harris reasoning. Might as well get started now(last off season) with finding a replacement for third base which is why he only offered Candy part time pay which Washington bested at 5 million. The unfortunate part is we are still looking for a 3rd sacker and won't get the trade return the Nationals will enjoy. Having said that I agreed with the decision-was happy to see him gone- and McKinstry will be a nice bench player for years to come at an affordable rate and this was a good year to "test the rest" and get that out of the way. The unfortunate thing is Hinch/Avilia thought Candy was better than Paredes who would be by far our best hitter. That worries me about Hinch. Does he really know talent when he sees it ?
  5. This Oakland series sure has been a dud. Skubal and Erod back is nice but s*** losing 1-0 and then blown out ? Looks like we will be moving everyone that brings back a "decent" offer and tank out the season....deja Vu all over again. But I do believe in Scot Harris and this was his mulligan year and he sure is taking it and truthfully it probably is the best coarse of action for 24/25. Hope he trades and drafts really well. Moment of Truth.
  6. Nobody is moving up from the minors to play on a sub .500 team when they still struggle defensively. Period.
  7. Crews would be sweet. A hitter without defensive issues. Can we have nice things ? Guess we will know on Sunday. Everyone to church early. Or Synagogue. Or Temple. Or Mosque. Or cross fingers. Maybe two of the above.
  8. Yes I think you and G2 are correct but how much does Schoop play on this team ? I would rather have the defense in center Marisnick provided. It’s elite and keep Carpenter at DH only and Badoo part time.
  9. Greene Verling Badoo/Marisnick OF McKinstry 3B Baez SS Ibanez 2b Tork 1B. Rogers C Carpenter/Miggy DH Short Haase bench Clear to me if they want to put the best team on the field this year defensively. I don’t want Carpenter in the outfield ever and need to hide Badoos arm when possible. Sorry Schoop times up.
  10. Should we go with four starters and a bullpen game ? Is it possible ? We seem to win bullpen games.
  11. Anyone think Marisnick might stick in center with Greene moving to left where long term his arm plays better. Greene-Marisnick-Verling left to right is pretty good defensive outfield with at least major league average arms and good range. Maybe platoon Badoo/Marisinick. Carpenter DH only.
  12. Can’t believe they traded him and for Steve FN Foucault too boot. Very sad day and still stings
  13. Why do players play better out of Detroit than in Detroit ? Maton was ok for Philly last year. Why ?? Is it too much "versatility" and playing out of position verses being able to settle into one position and focus.
  14. Camargo flying to Texas now ?
  15. Good point but hitting a fastball is a requirement as well is it not ?
  16. He can and he will. If you can mash fastballs you should adjust to off speed but right now he’s a pretzel and can’t hit either. And he belongs on second base. Getting schooled at third does not help his hitting. This and batting him fifth does not make sense to me. Obit hey see a player so why not play him at a position of familiarity and bat him lower. Let him breathe a bit.
  17. Nick Maton will be a good player for us and is worth the anguish.
  18. I don't doubt Scot Harris is thinking along these lines as well. Catching is the weakest position in baseball and a solid receiver who bats left-handed with maybe 15 homer potential is hard to find. How many are there now in the major leagues ? Smith, Rutschman, Raleigh any more ? Plus considering where we are in our "rebuild" a solid win at catcher might be the safe and smart plan plus maybe save some $$ for later picks. Good news is we will add solid piece with the 3 pick.
  19. No not anymore it’s the five spot for the gritty low everything hitter. Just ask Hinch.
  20. Foley and Holden might be our most sought after relievers.
  21. Bring back the knuckle ball pitcher. I would have thought there would be many coming forward. It's of speed and "shapie" and most important easy on the arm. I think a pitching staff with one or two knuckleballers would go a long way. It must be hard to do.
