Perhaps our greatest Tiger of all time ? Three full years and parts of two others age 30-31-32-33-34 lost to Military service during WW2. I say yes. -

Candy was an optional 7 million as Schoop was a fixed cost so that’s why we kept Schoppie the RBI machine. But I was all for letting Candy go and still am since he was too inconsistent to sign for multiple years. Glad he is doing ok in DC. -

Nice win. Badoo would be a real nice plus if he emerges and the Philly boys both contributing as well. -

Yes and more so if his current .649 holds especially with Colt Keith and JHM looking for a position to play ...... -

That would be great but I have been told here that we “can’t have nice things” and that would indeed be very nice 😊 -

I had my doubts and actually still do to a lesser extent. We fans tend to over value our own. I try not to do that and after watching for 55 years it’s becoming easier given all the disappointments. As for Tork I am encouraged but apart from scooping throws his defense is sub par. Fielding grounders and throwing is average at best which is why he failed as a third baseman and he can’t catch foul pop ups for his life. As for hitting his goal for me is an .800 OPS as a first baseman and a one one draft pick. He’s far from that despite all the positive press proclaiming he has arrived and is a formidable force in the middle of the order. I am rooting hard for him…for me…but am bracing for a slightly over average player which would be a bummer. -
Very true and his 2021 numbers were solid as you stated. It’s very sad and Meadows has the most to gain by playing again but I also doubt he ever will.
-
Fair points all around as usual but his slugging pct dropped a lot from 2019 and his defense was slipping also while his pay was increasing which made him a declining asset. I know I focus on this way too much but we tanked for so many years to get young controllable assets only to trade the best one away for a declining and now zero return. Plus the draft pick and extra salary cost seem to get overlooked but they are real assets. Especially sandwich picks. It would be nice to have third base settled for the next 5 years. And I do think Al panicked when Riley got hurt. His boss was publicly putting himself on notice and Al’s goodwill was running thin. Just my opinion.

Yes it's Monday morning QB but true all the same. It's a big fail.
-
I might be wrong but it seems we do not have even one solid pitching prospect in the minors. The strikeout totals are poor. So maybe Skenes will be the pick ?
-
Al looked at the back of his baseball card and saw many home runs and thats all it took. That and his boss said publicly "the rebuild was over" and Al need to cover his butt with no concern of the next day.
-
The Parades trade was questionable at the time and I was very uncomfortable when it went down. My comments on this board stated as such. Tampa rarely makes bad trades and Al often did. It was mismatch and panic move by Al because Riley broke his foot that we had no business making because the rebuild was not over. Meadows defense and power were clearly in decline and his salary was rising. Moving him was rule one in Tampa's playbook. Parades had great plate awareness in the minors and the build for power at some point. PLUS we gave up a high draft pick. Another typically poor decision by Al and one Harris would NEVER make. Old school fleeced by new school. I also hold Hinch partly accountable because he chose to give prolonged playing time to Castro-Castro- Reyes- Goodrum etc and not Parades despite the minor league OBP that was strong. We lost our young third baseman whose current line .289 - .368 - .492 6 HR 28 RBI and .860 OPS would lead us in all categories. He's better than Enrique Suarez. It's a shame what happened to Meadows and who knows what was known at the time but even healthy he would have been a poor fielder/DH with declining power and value. At least Al will be welcome in all corners of his home state of Florida. Santa Avila.

I see your point thanks but after healing won't he find himself in the minors anyway? Or do rehab minor league assignments incur service time and being assigned to the minor leagues don't ? Is there a difference ? And did Turnbull claim injury or Boras ? -

How has he been pitching if he was hurt ? So Boras got him an MRI and forced his way on the DL so he didn't have to report to AAA ? Did Turnbull fake an injury or did the Tigers ignore an injury ? And after he is "healed" will they send him down anyway ? -

Should Torkelson stepped on first and throw for the tag ? He caught that right next to the bag. -

I think so. He was always low walk-low strike out and keep the ball in the yard type of pitcher. He would love todays pitch clock since he was a fast worker. Good pick up by DD. -

Fister was the second coming of Doyle Alexander in 2011. One was 9-0 and the other 8-1 in half a season. -

Harris has definetly raised the "floor" and only Tork -Green- EROD (has already)- Baez and Skuball have the skill sets to raise the ceiling in my opinion and one already is who unfortunately will be pitching elsewhere in 2024. But its much better for sure. -

Excellent road trip. Keep it up. I love the American League Central. Let's take advantage and steal a division title. Can't believe I wrote that but really why not ?
