Less than the amount we lose because our players cant hit. -
i'm still thinking betwen 6 and 8 wins.

click bait. (it worked)

the only lion picked up on waivers was riley patterson, the kicker.

understood. counterpoints: if the guys you mentioned were going to be good major league players, they would have developed already. and their development now has more to do with them just getting older and wont translate at the major league level. i heard that about jung and velocity. no idea if its true. and honestly, i think a lot of the stuff coming out of tigers' writers right now is being fed to them by people who want to make avila look bad. so i dont know how much stock we can actually put into it. but as ive said, i think avila has a long track record of not being able to identify and/or develop talent. so i whatever we get out of his drafts is gravy. i'll believe any of those guys will be quality players when i see it. hopefully it was all on the development side and we'll see some actual results when a new group comes in with new ideas. or we can just promote david chadd and assume things will change. that's basically what they did the last time.

this whole thread is like lucy with the football and were all charlie brown. i'm ready for the new regime's draft picks. i have little faith in anything acquired when avila was the gm. greene looks ok. but avila has even ruined the #1 pick in the draft TWICE. now we hear jung cant hit velocity? so we drafted cristian stewart again? only this time in round one. sweet. call me in 5 years when the next regime's picks are ready.

why dont they just rename them the sonics?
-
it wont be about the big ten asking, it will be about nbc/peacock/fox telling. unless the irish can swing another tv deal with another provider. does espn want them to play in the sec and will give them more money? does amazon or apple want to use the irish as their entry into college football? do the irish want to be only on streaming?
-
i dont like their chances against the eagles. theyre at home so they have an advantage, but the eagles can run the ball and have a good oline. i expect the lions to give up a ton of points unless the eagles turn the ball over a lot.

sports media podcast: there is an automatic escalator clause in the big ten tv contract if they get notre dame. the contract automatically increases by a predetermined percentage if they get the irish. there is no escalator clause for any other team. if the big ten adds any other teams, they will have a "good faith conversation" about increasing the contract amount. its all about the irish.

halftime? dude, it will be the first time he throws an incompletion. mcs will be ranting about how he doesnt care about the fans and this is all the fords' fault. tp will blame the coaching staff. UNACCEPTABLE!

cant be any worse than blough/boyle.

jinx -
might be temporary. they have a lot of injuries to guys they apparently dont want to put on ir/pup. also, the lions have the #2 waiver spot. they could be picking up guys really soon.
-
i am very surprised that jackson was waived.
-
no interest in strong.
-
could very well be. jerry jacobs to the pup.
-
parker is a good practice squad candidate. he started off well but fell off a bit, imo. good news for jerry jacobs' prognosis? i'm still hoping for a new backup qb...

pronman's list of under 23 players: seider #2 behind jack hughes. raymond #9 edvinsson #32 kasper #67 zadina in the 80s, elmer the great in the 90s.

iow, not blough or boyle.

i didnt lament the paredes trade. i thought he'd never amount to much. i was a bit worried that the rays would turn him into something, but oh well. ya gotta give up something to get something. that said, paredes has been "ok". not a world beater. its the meadows part that has killed us. meadows should have been a solid addition to the lineup but instead has been a microcosm of the whole team: underachieving and injured. if parades had stayed here, i suspect he would also be doing poorly and/or be hurt. but even for those of us - like me - who didnt think paredes would ever come good, the trade is sort of symbolic for the whole organization. the rays identify cheap players and trade overvauled players for them. and then make the cheap players into a coherent, largely successful organization. the tigers lately have not done that. and since they no longer have a gm who has a proven ability to identify big league talent and an owner willing to pay that talent, they fail. we'll have to see if chris eventually develops into mike. as many here point out, mike was pretty bad at this for a while too.
