  1. right. because i was talking about "americans" and as you note above "you dont care what the average american thinks." so youve spent the last two pages arguing what tater wants to argue about (republicans are racists, rinse repeat) and not what i was talking about. its been two pages of us talking past each other.
  2. what part of "americans" dont you understand? again, youre making your point about how you think all republicans are racist. i'm saying "AMERICANS" largely support "immigration". "americans" includes more than just republicans. did you even look at that link i posted, or did you just google muslim ban until you found an article that said republicans liked it?
  3. i said 75% of americans are supportive of "immigration". that's true. i know you think all republicans are racist. we get it.
  4. all those things were unpopular with americans except maybe the wall. so what's your point? other than maga sucks, which yeah we get it.
  5. youre right, im not arguing with what you wrote because what you wrote has nothing to do with what i was talking about. its the usual tater rant of things tater wants to rant about. most americans love the idea of "immigration." all the polling says so. but they hate illegal immigration and see it as a problem. thats not just your bogeyman "maga trump people," thats most americans. so im not sure what all your ranting about walls and muslim bans has to do with that. and just so you know, truno's "muslim ban" was very unpopular wirh americans. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2015/12/16/upshot/how-unpopular-is-trumps-muslim-ban-depends-how-you-ask.amp.html
  6. youre fixated on maga people. that's a nice enemy that you can safely parody. im talking about the majority of americans. the majority if americans have a problem with people coming here "illegally." they have no problem with people - no matter what their color - coming here through legal processes. g2 may consider that a distinction without a difference or some sort of marketing technique by the gop because 100 years ago italians came here on a boat, but i think he's wrong. i think its a real distinction. tater, all you want to do is call "maga supporters" racists. fine. cool. but youre really not arguing against my overall point. at least not with anything other than anecdotal evidence and rants against "maga".
  7. the world is a much different place than when most of those immigrants came here. regardless, youre not really arguing with what i wrote, your just making a comment about history.
  8. what are you arguing with me about? like i said, americans like to think of america as a place immigrants come to. ergo, why most americans have a favorable view of "immigration." its the origin story of the country and people like it. even all the maga people you think are nothing but racists. that said, americans do not like illegal immigration and theyre worried about it. see the poll numbers. politically, that's good for republicans. its probably a big reason why trump got elected in the first place.
  9. there's too much smoke to this vikings stuff not for there to be some fire.
  10. lol. no. yeah, michigan needs to save money so it will go cheap on a head coach while msu and psu pay $9 million per year. sometimes i wonder how you view michigan's athletic department. remember when they made harbaugh the 2nd or 3rd highest paid coach? a covid blip in revenues isnt going to slow michigan down. if harbaugh leaves its because he wants to go back to the nfl, not because michigan had some magical line they wont cross to pay a football coach.
  11. they just re-did the armor room and now its really cool. a whole bunch of suits of armor, swords and old guns.
  12. well i'm sorry your chance encounter with maga people went poorly. https://news.gallup.com/poll/1660/immigration.aspx 66% of americans think immigration should be kept at the same levels or decreased. 60% worry about immigration. 81% see illegal immigration as either a critical threat or an important threat to america. meanwhile 75% say that immigration is a good thing for this country. again, americans love immigration, but they do not like illegal immigration and that's likely what they see at the border. when the democrats talk about making the us a borderless society (in the debates) or passing laws attempting to make it ok for non-citizens to vote, or non-citizens to receive state benefits, those are issues that do not appeal to most americans.
  13. the loop is a ghost town now compared to what it was pre covid. still lots of people on michigan avenue. the whole area is transitioning from high end stores for tourists and office spaces to condos and places for locals to buy goods and hang out. its the fastest growing part of the city.
  14. marcel duchamp. challenging you as to what is art and what is not. i dont particularly like that kind of art (or much of any modern art), but that's what it is. but there is truth to that criticism of art. i like art that is beautiful, and there is plenty of that in the art museum. im not much of an impressionist guy, but the best way to see them is to look at what art was and how they changed it. from pictures of monarchy and battles and jesus to pictures of trains, haystacks, and people on the street. it was quite a revolution. similar to going from haystacks and lillypads amd people on the street to urinals to picasso and leger to soup cans and mao to "ce n'est pas un pipe". but i'm a sucker for the medieval. so i always head to the suits of armor and the pictures of monks praying and jesus dying.
  15. we dont have immigration reform because a majority if americans do not want immigration reform. americans love the immigration story of this country, they do not like the current situation at the border and illegal immigration. that includes all americans, including hispanic americans. being "anti illegal immigration" is a winning issue for republicans and a loser for democrats, who were dragged to the left in their primary season last election.
  16. exactly! we NEED more immigrants. they should make it easier to immigrate legally. much easier.
  17. allen robinson might be a good buy low candidate. they need a receiver.
  18. i dont think any of this sucks at all. im glad stafford got to a super bowl and i hope he wins it.
  19. that's the thing, people talk about who is "qualified" and who isnt. what's the "qualification"? plenty of people from all sorts of different backgrounds have been successful jurists. just get a smart person who writes well. that's the important thing. there are sites that will score judges on their writing ability: clarity, conciseness, argument. of the people mentioned as potential candidates they all score well. brown is a little lower than the others, but the others score very high. almost all the current members of the court - liberal and conservative - scored very high. everyone who biden is talking about nominating will be more than "qualified."
  20. well yeah. i'm not saying republicans dont do the same optics that democrats do, i'm pushing back on chas' claim that conservatives identity politics is just white males. EVERYBODY'S politics in american history was white males, not just conservatives. and conservatives have nominated almost as many non-white males to the courts as liberals.
  21. female supreme court appointments: democrats: 3 republicans: 2 black supreme court appointments: democrats: 1 republicans 1 ah yes, "conservatives" and their traditional obsessions with white male exclusivity in politics. For almost all of american history, both liberals and conservatives were all about white male exclusivity in politics. and the gender barrier was broken by noted liberal ronald reagan.
  22. so would it have been better to take the carolina deal? that said, i think stafford said he didnt want to go there and the lions were trying to do him a solid.
  23. michigan will probably have a self insured retention, but not that large. insurance paid for most of that.
  24. those are seasons the vikings had over the last decade. why did you jump back into this thread? lol.
  25. 10-6 11-5 13-3 10-6 yeah, a bunch of 8-8 seasons. now do jacksonville!!
