all rookies are shiny new toys because we havent seen them play yet. be careful how many rookies you want in the lineup. if youre playing that many rookies in defense then youre battling montreal and columbus for the right to pick 5th next year.

4th team was the coach, who was obviously not on the same page as the rest of the org. again, dysfuntion and disorganization comes from bad ownership.

johansson is ollie maata, only younger. so they can get rid of maata if they want. as long as chairot isnt playing on the first line, he's more than fine. he's got an A on his chest for a reason. he's a veteran, he's physical, he's not a bad player. he's just not a top line player. chairot in the 2nd pair and petry in the 3rd is fine. its just when they get moved up that you see them exposed. if you think edvinsson is ready to be dman #1b to seider's 1a, then you should deal walman. he'll get a return on investment. holl will likely require you to give up assets or take a bad contract back (maybe we can call washington?), maata gets you nothing. walman gets you a good player or prospect. but it mean you have to replace walman AND ghost, which is probably too much for management to take. again, this year is the bridge year. next year they should be looking to add a big name and compete for playoffs.

i think people get wrapped up in not liking all the counter cultural, self-righteous bull**** of aaron rogers. he's one of the greatest qbs of all time. but he's 40 years old and coming off a significant injury. and i think he was starting to slide before then. maybe he has one more great year in him? i dont know. i dont think he has to be great for the jets to win. he just has to manage the game. the question is whether his ego will allow him to do that.
-
the jets are a pretty talented team. the one thing holding them back is their qb.
-
the wings are a small team that gets pushed around. youre not getting rid of your most physical defenseman. holl should be bought out. realize you made a mistake. although i doubt they are as lucky with health in defense as they were last year so maybe he actually plays 10 games this year?

Johannson signs a one year, two way deal.

wtf are the capitals doing?

skubal is human after all. some days its just not your day.

i think this is the "step back" season. blood some of the young players, pay raymond and seider, next year some flotsam and jetsom come off the books and hopefully guys like kasper, edvinnson, johanson, etc have had some time in the bigs. danielson should be ready next season. and all those guys will be on cheap contracts plus the cap is going up. and oh look! draisatl might be a free agent...

the more i think about necas the less i would give up for him. he's going to cost quite a bit to sogn even after you give up something for him. is that the guy you want to pay $7m to? on the flip side, what would you give up for patrick laine? i cant imagine it would be much.

i would guess borrego or weaver since both have ties to langdon.

i wonder if kenny atkinson just doesnt want to be a head coach again?

20234-24 14-68. Now what? (The 2024 Offseason thread)

so once again marc stein has no idea what he's talking about and is just throwing bs against the wall. -

i'm guessing you didnt watch too many pistons games this year. monty williams was criminally bad this year. yes, the team had mismatched players, but he made them worse. he put them in poor situations all season long. as has been noted, he didnt want the job but gores stupidly made him an offer he cant refuse so gores could land his "big name" (just like van gundy). monty may be a better fit in another situation, but he was wrong for this team and was extremely bad last season. firing him was the correct move. -
a solid goalie and health are all the devils really need. good trade for them unless markstrom falls off the cliff.
-
from twitter: the celtics won more games in the playoffs than the pistons won all season.
-
that is nuts. good luck getting seider for less than 9.
-
i suspect edvinsson and johannsen are upgrades on defense. however, i dont see a lot of upgrades at forward yet. in the next two years, yes.
-
this will end up being a very low rated nba finals. blowout city.
-
that is a very favorable trade for the red wings. i dont see any way someone else in the league doesnt beat that deal.
-
propped up by a ridiculously high shooting % and pp goals. their 5v5 offense was in the bottom third of the league. and that was with patrick kane. they still need offense. and defense.

i think the worst part about drafting michael penix was that they drafted michael penix. he's always injured. he's older. he looked great until he faced an actual, honest to goodness, great defense. then he looked very average. the process is actually sort of sound. they dont figure to draft this high again in the near future. they need a qb to take over in 2 years for cousins. penix will be in his prime thn (theoretically). i get why they did it, i just dont think penix is that good.

someone is going to pay charles barkley a TON of money to change his mind.

would you trade edvinsson straight up for necas? that's the equivalent of the mittlestadt trade to colorado.
