  1. I am probably late to the party, but I just learned that Lenny Faedo - a crappy utility infielder for the early 80s Twins - is Alex's uncle.
  2. I understand what you are saying, but I think Martinez was signed the second time because Mike Ilitch liked him and he wasn't necessarily going to spend the money elsewhere.
  3. Yup, there are jokes that are totally OK among friends that don't work for outsiders and this seems like one of them.
  4. Expansion teams usually annoy me for several years, but for some reason I accepted the Blue Jays pretty quickly. I still don't like the Mariners.
  5. Also, Kreidler is still injured. He may be back sooner than expected, but even then he'll need to play some games before they consider promoting him.
  6. I'd rather see Schoop's strong defense at second over any of the alternatives. Their offense is terrible and the pitching is shot, but having strong defense up the middle at least gives their pitching staff a chance.
  7. But that's not the fan's problem. As a fan, I hope the Tigers will increase their budget, so when I see them trying to cut costs I view it as a negative. Regardless, performance bonuses are in the budget.
  8. I think he was talking about bringing anti-racism to the next level, but it was an odd thing to say. Still, Donaldson probably wasn't the right person to throw it back at him.
  9. The only other time was the epic battle between the Underwood brothers. That is a game I'll never forget. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR197905310.shtml
  10. I definitely agree with that, but I think Tenacious was just kidding.
  11. They also need his defense. He leads the league in Outs Above Average: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outs_above_average
  12. It probably depends on the context, but it sounds like both of them are just dumb players, so who cares? The woke sabers on my feed are freaking out over it. There is a lot of racism in this country and people are getting more open about it, but this incident is not worth getting upset about.
  13. That is exactly what he was looking for.
  14. He was playing APBA, but he injured his elbow rolling the dice.
  15. Yes, he does report before others do sometimes especially with regards to the minor leagues. It is just sometimes difficult to distinguish between his factual reporting and opinion.
  16. That was my thought too. if they don't get healthy, they have a good chance to lose 100 games.
  17. Henning is an old school writer who sometimes makes controversial opinions to get people to read and discuss. I think the problem is that with social media, we don't need columnists anymore because any fool can make oddball opinions publicly now. When you hear Henning talk about the Hall of Fame, something that he takes more seriously than a lot of voters, you can see that he knows a lot about the game. As a an avid fan of baseball history, I have always liked that about him.
  18. Except now they'll be lots of snarky comments about Neifi Perez! In all seriousness, I am not pro-Javy. I just think he's a lot better than Goodrum and the Castros.
  19. They are more likely to settle tie games by having homerun derby. I think that will happen eventually.
  20. It's not really a serious idea. I know it will never happen, but I think it's intriguing. If you're you're going to have so many wild cards and so much interleague play, do divisions even matter? I also like that European soccer does not have playoffs.
  21. No need to call the "internet police". When you say something dumb, I'll let you know. That's how conversations work.
  22. I am cautious about any injury to a pitcher, but I'd be surprised if Skubal has more than bruise.
  23. Comparing players to Neifi Perez!
  24. You have two major leagues - the upper and lower divisions. The top 20 teams player in the upper division, the bottom 10 in the lower division. The bottom two teams in the upper division get relegated to the lower division and the top two teams in the lower division get promoted to the upper division the next year.
