Week Four: Seattle Seahawks (3-0) @ Detroit Lions (2-1)
Mr.TaterSalad replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I don't think it means much of anything at this point in his young career and I expect him to end up a very good player at the end of the day. However, according to PFF, Terrion Arnold has graded out as the worst rookie starting CB through 3 weeks. I really only bring this up because when Jeff Okudah was out there, when he wasn't hurt, he was getting dogged out by fans early on. So if it was fair to critique Okudah, it's fair to critique Arnold too. -

Geno Montana is going to shred us with no Branch, no Iffy, and the worst graded rookie starting CB out there in Arnold. This could get ugly out there. -
If you're not watching Georgia/ Alabama turn it on. What an unreal game. This is an all timer.

This ****ing moron actually came out yesterday and said he wonders why no one mentions anything about the environment and rising oceans anymore. Harris and Democrats literally talk about it all the time. Then this ****ing dolt pivots to what he calls nuclear warming and starts talking about World War 3.

If you're angry, disgusted, depressed, mad, or whatever about Trump then come and help knock doors with the Michigan Democratic Party and the Harris/Walz campaign. Door knocking and phone banking are two of the very best ways you can get Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats up and down the ballot elected. I've been doing it and you can too. There are campaign office all over the State of Michigan and all across the country if you aren't in Michigan. Here in Metro Detroit alone we have offices in Ann Arbor, Belleville, Canton, Detroit (3 offices), Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Livonia, Madison Heights, Pontiac, Port Huron, Rochester Hills, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Trenton, and Warren. I expected this game to be a loss at the start of the season and still expect it to be a loss. For whatever reason, Geno Smith turns into Joe Montana when he plays Aaron Glenn's defenses. Glenn seems to have no answer for slowing down Smith. Geno Smith vs Aaron Glenn's defense the past 2 years. 55 of 71 with 648 yards total passing yards. He's had 4 TD’s and 0 INTs. He's had a QB rating of 120. He's run for 10 carries for 69 yards and a 1 TD. 0 turnovers. Geno Smith was sacked once total in 2 games. -
That contagion kit the RSBN is selling with ivermectin cracks me up.

I can't ****ing believe though that this team rallied back and made this improbable run to get into the postseason. This moment, this run, today's game, is what you really live for as a fan of any sports team. We're playing with house money now, so this anything that happens after this is gravy. Helluva job by AJ Hinch, Chris Fetter, this staff, every Tiger player, Scott Harris, the player development staff. Incredible job all around by the entire organization really for making the impossible somehow possible. What a ****ing last month and a half this has been. We're in the damn playoffs. WOW!!!

There's been a couple of bad polls in recent days for Harris is Arizona. This one from the NYT/Siena and another one from USA Today/Suffolk. I wonder why Arizona, which went for Dems the last two election cycles, is seemingly slipping back to the right.

A second round pick did it for Montez Sweat. Hendrickson is probably a better player than Sweat and is also older than Sweat was when he was traded. I'd start the bidding with a 1st and go from there as needed.
-
I've been asking that for a month and a half. I had this team pegged to be below average to bad this year. I thought they would win 65-70 games, be one of the worst hitting teams in baseball, have a bottom 5-7 team OPS, and look towards next year with the young core. They have patch worked together one hell of a historical run. Kudos to all of these guys, to Hinch, to the staff, to Harris, for making baseball really ****ing fun around here again. This has been amazing!

Maya Wiley was always the best choice for NYC Mayor and would in all likelihood not been indicted today. Adams needs to resign and do so sooner rather than later.
-
You know who wouldn't have gotten indicted and would have been a far better NYC Mayor, Maya Wiley. Wiley would have been the progressive Mayor that NYC needed. Oh well. Looks like Adams will be done sooner rather than later.

A-Rob is now officially on the active roster. What does this mean for Tim Patrick? -
Trey Hendrickson is a 1st round talent, granted he's 29 pushing 30 this year. But if I felt I could work out a 2-3 year deal with him I'd give up 1st for him. If Montez Sweat commanded a 2nd to acquire him, and I would have been willing to make that trade too, then Hendrickson will likely command a 1st. I'd be willing to make the deal since we're in win now mode.
-
Trey Hendrickson had 17.5 sacks last season and 25 QB hits. He's a guy that can play all three downs as well. If the Bengals continue their free fall you wouldn't call about Hendrickson? I would for sure.

Another Detroit thing I loved growing up as a kid was listening to all the great morning shows we used to have around here on the radio. **** Purtan and Purtan's People in the morning on Q95.5 and Oldies 104.3 and Drew and Mike on the WRIF. My dad always had Purtan's show on in the car when he'd take me to school or when we would be driving around in the summer time. Loved the cast of characters they had on his show from the late Doc Andrews, Big Al Muscavito, Ankles Stewart, his daughter Jackie Purtan, Dana Mills, etc. Also loved all the gags and bits he used to do. They don't do local radio like this anymore. When I got older and into high school and college I discovered Drew and Mike on WRIF in the 2000s. Ed Belfour blows, the prank calls, funny but real names they'd call. It was such childish, stupid humor at times, but it cracked me up.

Maybe the Bengals aren't ready to give up on their season just yet, but statistically speaking, it's over. The stats around teams that are 0-3 making the playoffs are 2.5%. Trey Hendrickson's agent and the Bengals should be getting calls real soon, especially if they start 0-4. As a team on the precipice of a Super Bowl appearance, we should be one of those teams calling.

My comment was a joke, but there is truth to it. Availability is a skill and unfortunately it is one Davenport hasn't displayed consistently throughout his career. -
Maybe not, probably not, but they know the probability of an 0-3 team making the playoffs is under 3%. With Trey Hendrickson crossing the 30 mark this year, it may be something they want to consider. I doubt Holmes would even do it, but we should be making calls like that.

Marcus Davenport is a one trick pony at getting injured and they keep him on the roster. -

If that one thing is get the QB to the ground or disrupt the play by forcing him out of the pocket then that's a pretty important skill to have. They put out plenty of one trick pony run defenders out there who couldn't get after a QB. Somehow with this skill though, they don't seem to emphasize it. They seem to value containment and run defense more than just straight up getting after or pressuring the QB. -
Edit for duplicate post. Trump's still a dummy though.

This reminds me of his mind-numbingly stupid interview he had with Jonathan Swann at Axios when covid was going on. He kept look at graphs and talking about how we were better than the world during the interview.

If there was evidence that Al Jazeera was actively aiding Hamas it might change my mind, but this is a really bad look. Is there evidence to support such a claim at this time? Israel and it's regime lead by a wannabe dictator are trending in very, very dangerous territory here. When governmental agencies, lead by the command of a wannabe dictator, can come in and stifle the press and decide what is and isn't legit news media and coverage, that's not acceptable. That's the kind of actions Trump wants to take here by changing liable laws, litigating the press in court, and stymieing any journalistic coverage that's not favorable to him. If you are freaked out and concerned with Trump's dangerous rhetoric towards the press, we should be freaked out when his authoritarian Israeli counterpart does it too.
