man, social media is super weird. if I understand the current zeitgeist, it is clear to many that Scott Harris will be fired for incompetence probably on the same day the Tigers clinch their playoff appearance

looks like the missing minute from Epstein cellblock, which Bondo said was missing for every night, is not missing and even though they released everything they had (after Bill Barr said there was no video), they just released even more video Trump is having a fly over in DC today on a random Wednesday to both literally and figuratively drown out the sound of the survivors press conference no idea what is in the Epstein files, but Trump clearly thinks it is really, really bad for him

surprising that Grifter in Chief would spread the grift.

GB is the youngest team in the NFL. So they are in a good position to weather the loss of 2 1st rounds picks. And that won't negatively impact their roster until 2029 or so. But I agree, this does not their outlook very much. Their DTs are not very deep, or talented, or big. Teams are going run up the middle all season.

MAGA is going to sacrifice tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of our children to their orange god.

is this an efficient use of 220M?

With her post on X, Tulsi outed an undercover CIA operative working in Russia.

using a 3rd on Hooker was a totally reasonable roll of the dice

could be SSS, or crappy AAA pitching, but Baddoo has been on fire for 2 months - putting together a nice AAA season - some other team should give him a shot in 2026

still an A+ draft. Hooker's advanced age (3 years younger than Goff) always made him an odd fit, but totally reasonable to grab a guy who looked like a 1st round pick after putting up video game numbers in the SEC in the 3rd round. Martin never made any sense. A small school guy with at best average production vs. meh competition. Then puts up horrible combine score. Pretty clear he does not have "it" like so many other guys. Not sure what they ever saw, except huge size?

Toledo has a slim chance of sneaking into AAA playoffs. Erie, WMI, and Lakeland are already in for their leagues. Florida Complex League rookie team made playoffs but failed to defend their 2024 title. Both DSL teams have losing records.

i can't see AJ wanting to carry a poor defensive catcher; average catcher? maybe; do not know where Valencia lands

they can offer Gleyber a QO. I don't think he accepts it. they could get the ~35th pick in the 2026 draft. if he does accept, you end up with a one year deal at $22M - a bit of an overpay, but he has the approach they want from batters, even if the D and flexibility are not there. would block Lee and Jung in 26, but they would find ABs for McGonigle whenever he is promoted. but they would be fine without Torres: Tork McKinstry/Jung/Lee/Anderson Baez/Sweeney/McGonigle Keith/Ibanez/Vierling

2. Kevin McGonigle, SS, Detroit Tigers I was the guy in the media high on McGonigle when he was part of a very deep prep position-player crop in the 2023 draft -- and my belief in him has paid off better than I could've expected so far. The concerns at draft time were that his power/speed combo and odds to stick at shortstop weren't strong enough to warrant going higher than 37th overall (where Detroit took him). He has been at least a passable shortstop as a pro and has a real shot to stick long-term. His power (by literally any measure) is now above average, if not plus. McGonigle's feel and on-base skills were never in question, so now he looks like he could be above average at everything in the batter's box and closer to average on the bases and in the field.

"The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky they're going to give Cleveland State another year of probation." - Jerry Tarkanian LOL, UM is a major profit center for everyone; no way the NCAA was going to do anything that hurts the bottom line; but the next small school to do anything wrong is going to get hammered.

Pipeline updated their Top 30 https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/tigers/ Interesting: 17 John Peck already at Erie - 2023 pick, SS from Pepperdine 22 Izaac Pacheco - he's back after getting dropped 23 Jude Warwick - 2024 pick, HS SS a bunch of 2025 picks, more than I thought i would see if system was really deep

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread
RatkoVarda replied to IdahoBert's topic in Detroit Tigers
i do not think it is incorrect to say he has avoided moves that have long-term downside risk. his risk appetite, right or wrong, is currently different than Preller or DD. maybe that's just where the Tigers need him to be right now. maybe not. Clark over Langford and Keith's deal are the only 2 "risky" things he has done, maybe signing Maeda for more than 1 year as well -
extra racist today.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread

i'm pretty sure the Tigers have "won" every trade they have made since Harris took over. even Malloy for Jimenez still makes sense even though Malloy is unlikely to earn a long term role
