  1. like everyone else, would have preferred Correa, but not losing another high pick (when they finally seemed to have figured out how to draft well) is a bonus, and if Al's allowance is not all gone, adding Chafin, and maybe a lesser SP and maybe a bat, perhaps that is just as good
  2. Tigers get a lot better; last year defense and hitting from SS was awful. Correa: 11/352??? Seager: 10/325 Semien: 7/175 Baez: 6/? Story: ?
  3. 6/140? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/tigers-sign-javier-baez.html
  4. the tigers have developed just one SS in the last 2 decades, trading him away (Adames), so they are going to have to pay a premium to get a new SS if they get one in free agency, that premium will be paid in $$$ if they wait until Feb, during that scramble, that premium will be paid in young talent thru a trade I am as high as anyone on Kreidler, but you cannot rely on him for SS in 2022
  5. no doubt. that's why you hire professionals who help you make these big decisions
  6. i wonder if they would look at Dominic Smith, LH, plays 1B, LF, DH; good 2019-20; if Cano is back, he might be available
  7. Canha would have been a good fit; sees 3rd most pitches per at bat; but that price, at that age? yes, pass
  8. Baez may realistically realize that he is the 5th best SS out there (Correa-Seagar-Story-Semien-Baez) and maybe he does not want to be under the gun in Feb as there is a mad scramble to find a team. So can you get him now, for 5/125, or less? Baez carries a different type of risk.
  9. Tender deadline moved up 2 days to avoid lockout, so will get a little more clarity on the roster then; assuming one of Garneau/Greiner will not be tendered, maybe both will not; Boyd is only big decision. Turnbull, Candy, Fulmer, Cisnero - yes HCastro, Jimenez, Reyes - sure why not Hutchinson, Niko, Krol - already gone
  10. well if Correa is at SS, Semien is at 2B, Seager at 3b, and Story at DH ... that's OK with me.
  11. could have kept both out based on performance, but once Morris is in, Schilling's addition is an easy call
  12. Matz? for basically same money as Matz, you could get Gray, who has some upside. 4 more pitchers gone: Giants have resigned Wood, Desclafani and grabbed Cobb from LAA. Aaron Loop got 2/17M from LAA with option.
  13. Career HRs Prince Fielder: 319 Career HRs Cecil Fielder: 319
  14. exactly; the supply and demand stars have aligned for the Tigers; and 5 good SS are available; ABOSULTELY need to get one or make a trade in the ensuing shuffle
  15. Fraizer's dealing with vertigo so career could be over if they cannot solve that. But if they can, he is certainly worth a look considering current options
  16. probably would be able to contribute more if used a lot less
  17. high; he is 26 in May; so whatever he can learn in the minors, he learned; LH power is something they don't have much of, so there is a possible path for him
  18. Niko gone; N Rodriguez, Robson off 40, down to Toledo; Clemens, DeJesus up to 40. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/niko-goodrum-elects-free-agency-tigers.html
  19. that's a lot of additional pressure on Greene and Tork right out of the gate, but not crazy to think they could get it done. maybe start with this. Grossman (S) Candy (S) Correra (R) Miggy (R) Greene (L) Schoop (R) Tork (R) Barnhart (L) / Haase (R) Baddoo (L) / Hill (R)
  20. 2 weeks before owners lock players out, so if they cannot get anything else done soon, we are looking at 2 months of staring into the void
