Again 2 million, decent track record. I guess I just fail to see the problem and don't think some waiver wire guy on his fourth team this off-season is gonna match that.

A one year deal at pretty much nothing (that's why i said its just barely more than the minimum. 2 million for a player now a days is nothing). I guess i don't see what the downside is. If all those things you wrote hold true, you DFA and no fuss no muss. But if he continues to preform despite the outlier, then you have a guy who does 60 or so innings and minimal cost. Maybe even a trade chip. It's not like they gave him 10 or 5 million. It's two. And its a one year deal. Who was he blocking? What is keeping him taking away from? At 3x the league minimum he's about a third of 1 war player which seems about right for him.

About three times the minimum for a guy with an under four era in four years for us seems reasonable.

When you're 1-6 why not? The season is lost. We won some games and it means absouletly nothing now. All it did is move us down the draft board. Maybe you can lead the raising for the "we were in it until our week 18 game" banner.

Well that's the Rams pick no? Our pick is what 17. So nowhere near the top. The only thing directly controlled by winning those games in the middle. And there is no evidence that winning one year helps in teh next. We'll have to see in four years whether it was worth it. My fear is that winning a few games here in the middle is going to have a massive impact in 2028.
