  1. If they don't improve, can we then blame Hinch?
  2. Cincinnati has a team ERA of 6.90.
  3. But then we wouldn't have Mize and Manning in our rotation.
  4. It sucks that we are still rebuilding.
  5. Should have pinch ran for Miggy. Should have pinch hit for Schoop. Should not have pitched Hutchison in the 7th. Hindsight is 20/20. Hinch is a great manager.
  6. It looks very doubtful that the Tigers are going to play today due to the rain.
  7. There's some evidence that the Tigers bullpen is over-performing. The BABIP is only .244 (26th) and their LOB% is 79.1% (4th). These are usually luck-based stats that are normally near league average by the end of the year (these numbers would be ranked 30th and 1st last year). Their strikeout rate is 22.6%, which is below league average. The main reason their ERA is so low is that they have only allowed 3 home runs all year, the lowest in baseball. Meanwhile, they have a 41..6% fly ball rate, 5th highest in baseball. They can't continue to allow that many fly balls with so little home runs. Their xFIP is 3.91, almost 2 runs worse than their ERA of 1.97. Are they better than last year? So far, yes. But my bet is that they will be near league average by the end of the season.
  8. Harold Castro can't play 3B. but that doesn't stop Hinch from playing him there.
  9. Tubi shows old MLB games. https://tubitv.com/live/613765/mlb Not sure if you can watch any of them on demand.
  10. There's also the possibility that Grossman has to go on the IL, so they'll only have to send one down.
  11. Tigers win. A.J. Hinch lives to see another day.
  12. There's always going to be talk of firing the manager on a losing team.
  13. Tigers need to win at least 4 of their next 14 games to have a better record than their horrible start from last year.
  14. Maybe the Tigers should fire Scott Coolbaugh instead of A.J. Hinch?
  15. Don't worry, Chris Fetter will get him all straightened out. He's the best in the business. And A.J. Hinch is only one game worse then he was at this point last year. Only one more game in April and then he'll turn it around.
  16. For now on we'll call him Bad doo-doo.
  17. The key is to ignore April every year.
  18. Several. Alex Avila, Austin Jackson and Rick Porcello to name a few. Andrew Miller is younger and he made his debut 4 years earlier.
  19. I have the same birthdate as Brennan Boesch.
  20. I had to look this up. The first MLB player was Felix Hernandez, who actually made his ML debut against the Tigers. The first Tiger younger than me was Andrew Miller, by 1 month.
  21. Miguel Cabrera is the only Tigers player older than me.
  22. His first full season was also my first year as a baseball fan and I also was upset they got rid of him as there wasn't much to get excited about the '99 team. He was an exciting player.
  23. Shhh...don't criticize Hinch.
  24. I think it's very much a individual thing. Take Max Scherzer. When he first came up, everyone was predicting a major injury from him because of his delivery and he's been relatively healthy his whole career. Now take Justin Verlander, who most people would consider has the perfect delivery, missed time in 2015 due to injury and later had TJ surgery. Scherzer, while being a regular starting pitcher for the prior 4 years, didn't hit 200 innings until his age 28 season. Verlander, on the other hand, had 5 years of 200+ innings through his age 28 season (including 2 years at 240+). Maybe Verlander was overworked early in his career and that was the cause of TJ surgery?
