  1. I believe Keuchel can give more innings and given past performances support this. I also don't think De Jesus or El. Rodriguez has a future and neither of them have a track record at all. All 3 can be removed from the 40-man roster.
  2. I'd rather have Kuechel. He has a better track record.
  3. De Jesus, Hutchison, or El. Rodriguez. Probably Hutchison. He's 31 and has no future.
  4. If someone is going to get injured for being overworked, I'd rather it be Keuchel than one of our young starters. If he doesn't get injured, he'll give much needed innings. It's a lost season. Wins don't matter. I don't care what his ERA is. Our young players need to stay healthy.
  5. Dallas Keuchel has been DFA'd again.
  6. Looking at it from that angle, it would probably be another Juan Gonzalez situation.
  7. The Tigers didn't trade for Cabrera until after they had two winning seasons in 2006/07. This team isn't close to that level yet.
  8. Tigers had to give up 2 top 10 prospects to get Cabrera. Think Greene and Torkelson.
  9. What a major disappointment. The worst coverage I have ever seen. Miggy gets 1 AB and they don't show any of it. They didn't even acknowledge that he was batting. Not a single word of it. This could very well be his final All-Star game, his last hurrah, and they don't say anything about it. Instead they are showing David Ortiz goofing off in the dugout. Way too many players were mic'd up and they were having actual conversations with pitchers while they were pitching. Such a disaster! Then there are the uniforms. I really like the uniforms, however it just feels wrong with them not wearing their normal uniforms during the game. The whole game felt wrong. I really used to enjoy the All-Star game. I look forward to it each year. But now I don't care to watch it next year. Congratulations MLB, you've turned me away from the All-Star game. You've done the complete opposite of what you were trying to do.
  10. I've heard this about Willi Castro too. "He's one of the Tigers hitters that is actually hitting! You can't get rid of him!" He has a below average 84 OPS+ and 80 wRC+. His OBP is below .300 and his SLG is below .400. His WAR is going to be below 1.0, while 2.0 is considered average. Of course I want to get rid of him, and we haven't even discussed his defense yet. Just because his offense production is slightly better than 80% of the team, doesn't mean he's "good." And no, we are not "showcasing" him. No contending team is going to want to give up anything, much less anything of value, for this AAAA player. There's only 2 players that the Tigers should keep, Greene and Torkelson, and Torkelson needs more time in AAA. Everyone else can go. That's how bad they've been. Reyes and H. Castro could be useful in utility roles. Meadows may be fine if/when he gets completely healthy.
  11. I very much agree, but it's taking forever for everyone else to figure it out.
  12. 17 saves. Even in this day and age, the save stat is still looked at as very valuable. My personal belief is that they are keeping him as closer to get him as many saves as possible so that they can get a high return at the deadline. Although Avila will be the one making the deal.
  13. Higginson was at his peak when I became a Tigers fan and there wasn't much else to be excited about. He was by default my favorite player until the Tigers became competitive.
  14. You mean the reliever they forced to pitch like a starter without properly stretching him out got injured?
  15. I was just about to post the same thing. Very high chance they don't play tonight.
  16. If Meadows were healthy and hitting like he did last year, most people would still be ok with the deal, even with the way Paredes is hitting. The fact that Meadows and Paredes went in opposite directions make the deal look much worse than it actually is and doesn't help Avila's reputation of making terrible trades.
  17. There's kind of a trend here. Eugenio Suarez and Willy Adames are both above average hitters. Why are the Tigers giving up on their middle infield talent?
  18. Baez is hitting .387/.424/.936 with 4 HR, 9 RBI, and 2 SB over his last 8 games. Streaky hitters are streaky.
  19. It's pretty straight forward. There's a group of anti-vaxxers out there and he is clearly pro-vax. COVID-19 may have made it political, but this was even the case even before COVID-19.
  20. I think the biggest takeaway is that you shouldn't believe everything you read (whether it's on the internet or not). Alwas get a second source. I believe it was also Lynn Henning that threw Dave Dombrowski's hat into the ring as a new commissioner candidate when Selig retired. I could never get a second source on this one and therefore I never believed that he was ever considered.
  21. Isaac Paredes has 8 home runs, 16 RBI, and a 130 OPS+. Austin Meadows has 0 home runs, 11 RBI, and a 99 OPS+.
  22. I always disliked the park as a fan. It's way too open; you don't have any shade from the sun/rain. It's very poorly designed. But I'm fine with the dimensions. And I absolutely hate the merry-go-round. It's completely out of place for a ballpark.
  23. He constantly makes bad in-game decisions but no one points them out. Last night they are winning 1-0 in the 9th and he just leaves Soto in there imploding. You consciously used 3 position players to pitch in yesterday's game to keep the bullpen fresh only for you to not utilize the bullpen when one of your relievers doesn't have it. He claims he doesn't use old-fashioned roles for his bullpen, but when it comes to actually managing the bullpen, he makes the same do-or-die by the closer mistake as every other manager. Sure the offense was horrible like every other game. But that was a winnable game and Hinch blew it.
  24. I still find it a bit suspicious that Correa wouldn't take a bit less money to play for his former manager again, especially after that lunch meeting that they had. Seems like Correa has a big ego. And why is everyone so confident that Correa would have the same numbers in Detroit as he does with Minnesota considering the criticisms of Scott Coolbaugh? For all we know, Correa wouldn't be hitting any better than Baez is hitting if the Tigers would have signed him.
