I never played baseball. I was never any good at it. The reason I was drawn to it was because the played at a slow enough pace that I was able to follow along. I could never get into basketball of football because I never could figure out what was going on. I loved that I was able to strategize along with the manager in baseball. I couldn't do that in other sports because it was too fast paced.

Ok, compromise. Have some start earlier and others stay the same. Why should all the punishment be on the east coast? The 9:30pm start time on Labor Day should have never been allowed to happen.

I don't see how banning the shift solves anything. The only thing that makes sense is that they want more offense to appeal to the younger generation. They are removing strategy in favor of more action because that's what they think the kids want to see. If you want younger fans, try this: - Eliminate all 9:30/10:00pm games. How can you expect kids to stay up past midnight to watch a full game and be ready for school the next day? - Eliminate blackout restrictions. Most people in their late teens/early twenties use streaming services and will be more than happy to pay for MLB.tv if they were able to watch their hometown teams. - Better promotion of your best players. Every kid should know who Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Aaron Judge are even if they are not baseball fans. The same way they promoted Ken Griffey Jr., Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa in the 90s. Sure, the home run record race helped, but you don't need a special event in order to promote your players. Are they doing these rule changes in hopes to create another race? "Hey maybe if we eliminate the shift, someone could hit .400!" I wouldn't doubt if that was their mindset.

The Tigers have a .288 winning% over their last 52 games. If they continue at that pace for the rest of the year, they'll finish at 59-103.

9:38pm start time on a holiday? Someone screwed up. -
I compared Baddoo to Austin Jackson before, and I'm sticking to it.

Anyone remember this letter the Tigers sent season ticket holders to "be patient"? https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2017/08/31/long-letter-fans-tigers-plead-patience/105147446/ It's been five years and the Tigers are no better off now than then.

.500 might have been a stretch, although that's what I was hoping for. But the Tigers are the 4th worst team in baseball and are only 4 games better than the worst team in baseball. Washington: 47-87 | .351 Pittsburgh: 49-84 | .368 Oakland: 50-85 | .370 Detroit: 51-83 | .381 .389 winning% is the magic number to avoid 100 losses.

How do we know if he was training or doing any kind of throwing or workout routine while he was gone? The assumption that he wouldn't be able to help us when he got back isn't exactly unfounded. Again, regardless of what the reason was.

It shouldn't be besides the point. What he did was grounds to void the contract, regardless of what the reason was.

Not necessary. They signed Norris.

I never had nor will I ever like interleague play. I'd rather have the mystery of two teams never facing each other in the World Series with nothing to prepare themselves for the other team's strengths and weaknesses. But I guess they can make more money this way.

It's not what Grossman is doing that's bothering me. It's Hinch's remarks about it.

James McCann was an All-Star for the White Sox, but reverted back with the Mets. There's also C.J. Cron, but you can cry small sample size on that one. EDIT: Just saw Cron's OPS was .894 for the Tigers. I remember it being much lower.

Hinch made the statement that they need to get better in this area, implying that they didn't have the means to fix Grossman.

He played before my time, but I was looking at his stats and it's interesting that he was playing right between the last two Tigers World Series. He made his ML debut in Kaline's last year and left the Tigers the year before they won the '84 WS.

This right here. You can have all the fancy equipment and up to date stats and data available, but without proper communication from the front office to the hitting coach to the players, it's all useless. This is one of the reasons why I want them to do a clean slate. Fire Hinch and all the coaches and start over. New GM and front office and new field manager and coaches. What they have right now isn't working.
