  1. They're pitching to our whole team like a bunch of Babe Ruths
  2. They will or they won't...it's a 50/50 proposition.
  3. I have a family member who survived a serious bout with Covid and know of others...it can really mess with your mental state, even after the physical symptoms have lessened. For people involved in long term medical research, I think Covid is going to be a treasure chest
  4. Liked the Supersonics jersey's...hate that Rockets uniform. Speaking of Supersonic.....JJ Fad. THAT was Supersonic
  5. Tork is back...let's see if that exit velo increases a bit
  6. He lists Edvinsson as an "NHL average" skater. First I've ever seen his skating listed as anything but above average
  7. McCoskey (paywalled article) lists Meadows, Wenceel, Bergner and Gipson-Long as "on the bubble" to be protected from rule 5. He protects Kreidler and Olson....leaves Lipcius, DeLa Rosa and Hess out in the cold. I would definitely put Meadows and Wenceel on the 40 man along with Kreidler and Olson.
  8. He was traded right before the start of the 1984 season...along with Glenn Wilson...to Philadelphia for Bergman and Willie Hernandez. That trade was the final piece of the puzzle (along with Evans as a FA) in making the Tigers WS champs
  9. Burrned his bridges on the way out of town....but he and Summers were a potent DH platoon for awhile there
  10. Flores with a good outing for Erie....Sequera jacks his 18th in Lakeland. Tork goes 2 for 4
  11. Both Shelton and Boesch had two productive seasons in Detroit. Be great if Carpenter surpassed that...but I'd be ecstatic to get those results from a 19th round pick
  12. Pronman listed Edvinsson as one of the tournament's disappointments while noting that he was injured pre tournament and had food poisoning during it. Whatever....
  13. Jobe threw close to 48 pitches in 1.2 innings. Gave up a run one one hit...but three walks to go with three K's. Sounds like he was getting a lot of movement...but didn't have much command. Not too surprising for a 19 year old. On a happier note...Sequera hit his 17th HR. Not bad for a 19 year-old
  14. They went in looking for problems and found an issue with the flexor tendon. Perhaps Tarik needs to clean up his mechanics or move to the pen
  15. Give them a taste of the level you're going to assign them to next year
  16. You can't run Miggy out there next year...he's shot. If he insists on coming back...stick him on the 60 day DL...his knee appears to be made of wet cardboard now, so I think it will be viewed as legit. If he plays along nice, bring him back in Sept for a farewell tour. If he starts griping...bring off the DL and DFA him. The most depressing aspect re this team....Harold Castro and Riley Greene are the only two position players I would want to play next year. The rest...including Baez...can hit the tape
  17. Dingler and Crouch should be moved up a level each...and maybe Wenceel. Sad that you really can't find position players beyond those guys that warrant it right now. I sure do hope they can fix Tork. Missing on 1:1 can really F up your rebuilding timeline
  18. Cossa stops 22 of 24 in Canada's 5-2 win over Latvia
  19. Andrew Miller was a unicorn...a middle reliever who could completely shut a team down for multiple innings and close it out if need be. Had we signed him as a FA in 2010 or 2014 when he was available, we might have one a World Series or two. Hire Epstein or that Houston fella..Lubnow? Let them sort out who stays and who goes
  20. Pacheco is Howard Johnson?
  21. Went 1-3 with a BB in the ft end of the DH...maybe he's coming around
  22. With Perez...the goal has to be to get him through the season healthy while showing some improvement as the season progresses. So far...so good
  23. Given his earlier pitching lines...that's a HUGE step forward for Perez
  24. Saw some Jobe footage on twitter last week...frustrated and beset by fielding issues (familiar theme organizationally) he hulked up and blew a couple of fastballs by hitters...he also threw a coupe of sliders that looked ignorant of the laws of physics. The team has a recent history of drafting pitchers who get hurt...dating back into the 90's at least...before or shortly after they make the squad Could Jobe join Verlander and Porcello as injury free pitching prospects?
  25. Konerko never dealt with tacky spiders or any of the other crapola associated with spin rates and such
