I got an alert on the MLB app on a story where so far 24 of their "experts" gave him the Cy Young.
-
and they did this just to get that reponse so they could put it on twitter and make this claim.
-
and that is what drives them crazy. But they will try to spin this as "well if the son of the POTUS is a felon then it's no big deal if the President is a felon"
-
He wouldnt go out for the anthem because he was a Jehovah's Witness. Same with Chet Lemon. They don't do that.

No mandatory military service. I'm not opposed to mandatory service but that is a very broad definition... serving your community in some way. coach a team. officiate in a sports league. Run the clock or scorebook. Be a crossing guard. Meals on wheels. work in a food pantry.

ugh.... I knew Maeda would Mike Pelfrey for me.... meaning every time I go he pitches. My third game with him this season.

It will. I assume that Boston "started" this with their Marathon Monday jerseys, which to me is very cool. The Boston Marathon is a huge deal and they always play an early game that day so it "connects" them with one of the things their city is most famous for. It was natural and organic. But when greed takes over and teams are forced to "connect" with their city then it fails.

These clowns can't differentiate between hostages and prisoners.

11 teams, out of the other 29, have won more games, 12 have lost fewer. No, I wouldn't call them "good" but I don't think they warrant the beating they get here after a loss. People act like they are the 2003 Tigers sometimes. They are on the the middle of the pack.

That's baseball. Every team has warts and failings when they are around .500. that's why they are a .500 team.

I'm just struggling to understand why a person would feel the need to minimize this. What is there to gain in doing so?

It was. I read a book about it's recovery called Bringing Columbia Home. Columbia was a bit different than Challenger in one way. Tile damage was a known defect on these missions. The controversey was the management's disregard of the problem once it was noticed on that mission. But it's also not clear what could have been done to save them at that point. A rescue mission is pretty much science fiction with a million things having to go right just to have a chance. Prepping a shuttle launch takes time, plus you have crew training to go through. It's not just a car you hop in and drive away. There were limited resources aboard columbia. Later on after resuming missions they did have a standby mission ready in case they had to do it but it was complex. The Shuttle also couldn't dock with the ISS while they figured it out. Not enough fuel to do that. The only realistic option would have been trying to alter their reentry to avoid as much as possible the contact on the affected area. And tragically.... they could have allowed the families to sort of 'say goodbye' as they tried it. But as the doc explains.... leadership didn't think there was a problem to solve.

I have to say that the Tigers rank on that list is a lot higher than the mood of this MB suggests. Lots of doom and gloom around here for a team that nobody should have expected to be much better.

That is a great twitter account. One of my favorites.

No. Those examples refer to more than one person. There was also a case from the NCAA basketball tournament of a plyer receiving death threats because of what he did in relation to the spread. Are you naive enough to think that those are the only examples that exist? I'm not sure what Jodie Foster has to do with this. MLB is increasing the risk of player safety and well being along with the integrity of the game by getting in bed with gambling companies. The use of the term "drama queen" because players fear for their safety along with their families is incredibly rude and inconsiderate.

Which part of this falls into "doesn't mean it actually happened"? “(Expletive) you. (Expletive) your family. I’m going to kill you and then kill your family.’ Here’s a sampling of the horrifying messages to one Rays player: "I will sever your neck open you pathetic (expletive)." "I will enter your home while you sleep, and sever your neck open." "I will kill your entire family." "Everyone you love will soon cease." "I will cut up your family." "Dismember them alive.”

Drama queens? Really?

Agree. I like them all and because of that can watch any time. I throw an episode on while I work as background noise. The only one I didn’t care as much for as the others was other one on Apollo 13 but I understand why they did it that way. They just made a movie so recreating that would be silly. But given they changed it to focus from the media side and they made up the two media guys… then it’s not that interesting to me. One cool thing about the final episode was they had a brief scene with the guy who played Deke in Apollo 13 in a shot with the guy playing him in the series.

I watch an episode at least once a month. My favorites were the one covering Apollo 9 and the development of the LM (Spider), Apollo 12 and their friendship, and Apollo 15 with the work on science and geology.

Yeah I saw another story on it. The book it is based on covered the class Ride was on. It was picked especially for diversity. There’s a challenger series on Netflix now and in it they show Cronkite’s broadcast announcing the new group. Paraphrasing the numbers he says “among them are 2 blacks, a woman, and an oriental” given who is involved this one sounds great. The best space show ever is HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon. That set the stage for Band of Brothers and John Adams and the Pacific. Showed HBO that model could work.

Sally Ride wasn’t on Challenger. She did die but in 2012. First US female and the youngest at age 32. Christa McCauliffe was the teacher on challenger. Is that who she is playing or is it Ride?

What difference does it make what we think or feel? Front Offices don't react to fans whining on the internet. I'm not going to NOT go to a game because a guy didn't make some trades I thought he should have. I go to games to have fun and spend time with family and friends and enjoy it. Winning makes it fun, and stressful, but I don't let a lack of it ruin my day or evening. Their wins don't pay my mortgage so it doesn't really affect me one way or another.
