that was back in the gameday era when that was as close to real time as you could get, along with MB updates in a game thread. In one of those it just said: "Casey grounds out to LF"

Norm Cash was better than I realized.

For me it's a matter of degree. Criticism is fine and that's the nature of being a fan. An irrational fanatic. The ups and downs and bipolar nature of hating the team one minute and loving them the next. For me the line is crossed when some act like they are indeed an educated contemporary of these front office people rather than must baseless speculating. Putting on a headset and recording a podcast in a planet fitness may visually give off an aura of inside dope but that's just window dressing. That person is no different than a guy at the barber shop who calls into 97.1 the ticket. And with the MLB draft being such a crapshoot it offers the chance for broken clock syndrome. A player either works out or they don't. Most don't.

Those are all refreshing takes. It's topics like that which made my previous studies of presidents so fascinating. The different styles. JFK wanted to be in on every decision and every staffer to report to him.. Bush 41 wouldn't hesitate to pick up the phone and call some random person 4 levels down in a cabinet department who wouldn't believe it was the President calling them. He wanted the information straight from the source. He knew the inner workings of government from his lifetime of service. Clinton would read everything he could like a college student. Obama treated it like online discourse. Lots of snark. His staff grew up on The West Wing. Reagan wanted high level. Hear all the sides, ask some questions, then make the decision.

I disagree with those analogies. It's a cliche but we are in a new world now. Past performances are no longer indicative of anything. Our fractured media landscape with it's bubbles and our gerrymandered legislatures at the state and federal level... it's all different. what went down previously is not going to give us any insight. The old way of doing things is no longer valid. I think we are at the civil war era in terms of political landscape. Not in the sense of there being an actual war and people dying but I'm thinking about political parties and the field. The Republican Party has evolved and 1/2 of it doesn't fit and many of that 1/2 still think it can be saved. That's misguided. The Republican Party is the party of Trump and Karmano and Kari Lake. No one is going to undo that anytime soon. A national poll may offer hope but it's what happens in the states that makes that decision.

Right. i don't think you draft based on current roster makeup. Too much can change in a few years. Just take the best player relative to your strategy.

to the vast majority, and nearly everyone who isn't working for a team, these are just names on a sheet of paper. It's comical to read analysis given with such self appointed authority as if they know what the hell they are talking about. Not so much here, like you said, it's on twitter. These orgs don't sit around and read the same bits of information available to us. If history is any indication of the players discussed yesterday, maybe one of the top 5 will be an All Star type player. A few players in the middle rounds will be starters somewhere. One near the end will be the surprise of the draft. That's the MLB draft. Lots of gnashing of teeth over nothing.

Jesus Christ. Everyone is an expert. Come back in 2 years and whine. Right now it’s all bull**** and speculation.

They did something similar for the NHL draft lottery.

Where we work out is a community center. During the election her people were having some kind of rally or something in either the theater or a meeting room. This collection of people I came across in the parking lot was straight out of a meme. Old ladies with funny hats and buttons. Lots of religious and anti abortion bumper stickers. Lots of them. Bible verses painted on the cars. I was going to ask them if JFK Jr was speaking but my wife wouldn’t let me.

Same here. My on screen display didn’t come on and I was stuck. I couldn’t believe it. This guy has a career ahead of him. -

I do feel bad for someone when it looks like they are finished doing what they have done their whole life. I don’t hate players who’s only fault is not being good anymore. They aren’t doing anything wrong. Sometimes the vitriol I see bothers me. These are humans doing their best. -

Smyly saved the day.... I still get mad at his lack of usage in game 2 in the 2013 ALCS. One batter. -

My friends and I make fun of this:

remember in the 90's when people like Limbaugh and Falwell would refer to Ellen Degeneres as "Ellen Degenerate"? They were mad that a lady on TV was a lesbian. Man... that was ****ing hilarious.

If we were playing the A's or Yankees in the playoffs, it was a good thing. Anybody else? Not so much. -
They can still disbar him though, right?

I like to use my wife as an indicator. She really likes it. If she likes something then I think others will too. Doesn't work in reverse though. My opinion is that it's kind of a throwback show. It's not trying too hard. Great music. I could see this being on TV in the 70's. There's a grittiness and it's also tender and funny. Not joke funny but observant funny. Like a Hill Street Blues. Even after 3 episodes I am into the characters already. I want to see what happens to them. And the music is great. Don't recall reading about that from others but every episode so far has had some really good songs in there.

We have started on The Bear. Knocked out two the other night and probably catch up more this weekend. We both really liked it. We are only good for an hour or so a night.

There's no way that it can be known to be true because that's just the argument he used for not doing anything. But he also gave information to dispatch indicating he had a good idea where he was. He froze and just used that as an excuse to get off legally. Like when a cop shoots someone even though we can all see they shouldn't have, all they have to do is say they were in fear and they get off.

My son got a ticket in Detroit. He went to pay but the app was down and it said " System Maint No payment is required at this time". He took a screenshot of the message. He got a ticket. Car is in my name... I went through the process of appeal, sent the photo, explained it all, and they denied it. I could appeal it in person. What a racket. They know doing that will deter people like me who just fork over the $35 or whatever it was.
