  1. Kind of bummed I have to miss this game. Sister in law is in town. I just got back from San Diego an hour ago. On Sunday we went downtown and walked by Petco. Sublime was in concert.
  2. You know what. I am thinking of Profiles in Courage. He won the Pulitzer for that. But his top speechwriter when he was president , Ted Sorensen said he wrote a lot of it.
  3. I love the pushback against fantasy films for "not being accurate".
  4. Tim Raines too, although that got rectified. "He's not as good as Rickey Henderson". "Well, not many were...." I think the HOF voters during the 80s and mid 90s had too high of standards as they judged the players from the late 60s to 80's. Not every HOF member has to be a top 5 at their position and it seems the voters had that standard. To me the HOF is about how you were rated against your peers. I once saw a chart that showed the % of active players who would become HOF'ers and there was a marked drop, even adjusting for the fact it takes some longer to get in so naturally it would be lower until it "catches up"
  5. Did Freehan suffer because when he was winding down his career and becoming HOF eligible you had Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk, and Gary Carter setting new standards for catchers?
  6. My issue with using AI for something like that is it seems like it would take me just as long to ask the question as it would be to just write the email. In my job I'm often faced with the dilemma of trying to systematically process something or manually. Often times manual wins out because the prep work and explanation to our tech people would take longer, or if not longer, would be more difficult. Manual processes also allows for some multi tasking, ie doing it during a meeting, (or while I am watching Wimbledon)
  7. Looks like I picked the right time to go to California on vacation
  8. On top of that… he probably didn’t even write it
  9. I don't think they have ever won. For some reason those voters didn't get the show. I just watched Odenkirk last night in The Bear and was reminded of how good he was. My wife was casually in the room with me during the BCS run, she didn't really watch it, but is so into The Bear and she was blown away by his performance. I told her "See what you have been missing?"
  10. I was a fan of JFK/RFK. They were capable. Jackie kept her kids in line. Caroline stepped out for a minute to consider running for Senate, realized she was out of her league, and honorably went back to doing her thing. Look up the RJK/Reagan debate. It's not really a debate between them as it is them and Vietnam skeptics. It's fun to watch. RFK ripped into his staff afterwards for what he thought was lack of preparation for what he'd walked into. Reagan was impressive.
  11. Joe Kennedy Sr deserves all of it.
  12. I assume succession, since it just ended, will have another Emmy season? If so I think that’s some hope for BCS winning a few.
  13. Burned thru episodes 6 and 7 of the bear season 2 tonight. I can’t say enough about how good this is. I’m not sure I have come across a movie or TV show that’s made me care about the characters more than this does. I want to know what happens to these people. and the music. Damn.
  14. similar experience with Europeans when we did an excursion in Aruba.....
  15. Yep. Just easter eggs to portray it as it's own "universe" so to speak, like Quentin Tarantino using Red Apple Cigarettes or the same last names. The theme as I see it is how technology traps and exposes us. Which the title implies and I just now "got it". Yeah the pig episode was rough but I quickly ignored that piece of it and instead focused on the hilarity of how the staff was so casual about it, treating it like any other political scandal and how to address it. We skipped to the newest season just to stay consistent with other friends so we can talk about it. But we are on hold now by catching up on The Bear.
  16. my wife gets mad at me because I only like black coffee. No flavors. Same with tea. No lemon. No mint. Just black tea. The flavor is there. I'm a basic guy. Same with hummus. You start putting **** in the hummus then it's not hummus anymore.
  17. I went to the 7/11 on Monroe at 6:40. The sign on the door said "The Free Slurpee over at 7 pm"
  18. I'm in favor of whatever the players want. I want good baseball and if both the pitchers and hitters feel they need extra time to be at optimum performance level then do it. The focus should be on quality of the product. I'd rather the participants of the game make these decisions rather than guys in suits who have to think about other things like money... face it, that's the only thing they consider.
  19. The last year I played I basically quit trying to hit homers and would just hit it over the pitchers head. Every time. And often I would get a double out of it. I wasn’t trying that was just my evolution I guess I quit playing because I sincerely was worried I would take out a pitcher. I would warn them. Nobody needs to get hurt. It would scare me. I have noticed a trend in a league I drive by where they actually put the batting practice cages in front of the pitcher.
  20. I don’t care about them because I don’t live in Georgia or Massachusetts. Has Hill spent a lot of time in MIchigan over the years? Obviously I want a D to win but I need more to go by to prefer him over Slotkin. He owns a coffee shop and went to school with Obama. Cool.
  21. Why is he qualified to be a Senator? Any legislative history?
  22. If they put "Limit 2" on it they will sell out.
  23. Ahsoka trailer is out.
  24. I never really looked at Norm’s numbers before. My impression based on what I heard is he had “the one big year then that was it”. That wasn’t it.
  25. It was said by a departed poster that Tony Clark is the standard. If you can get a Tony Clark in a draft from a single year then it is a success. I agree with that.
