  1. A gifted link. We did this at a friends house around 1996. No marijuana involved though.
  2. He’s following the Bill James model where h starts to be contrarian just to be contrarian. There is a point where outside the mainstream pundits become part of it and then everything they say is carefully crafted and becomes pointless. No boldness. Mitch Albom was like this in the 80s and early 90s. Then he got a radio show and was on ESPN all the time and now the brand has to be protected. Same with Nate.
  3. Because as we know those are “real” states made up of patriots. Not some lib labs from california and New York.
  4. It’s shifted how we buy groceries now. We do the meijer or Kroger pick up thing for non perishables and other week go week items on Thursdays . Hit our local fruit market for fruits, veggies, meats on Sunday . And we have an Aldi close by. We have turned one pain in the ass trip into two or three quick hassle free. Better for our sanity. We also have a middle eastern market within walking distance for quick things we might have run out of. I like going there because I always see something I haven’t before.
  5. What will we wake up to?
  6. This is a major development. One of the biggest in years. And the cable networks are MIA.
  7. I'd do the same in MI. If it's a close primary then I will register GOP. I think Biden's age will be a bigger issue this year and if not for that he'd win easily. If they get another VP candidate his chances would improve but not sure Harris is that popular. So despite the GOP's idiocy I won't rule out them winning the election.
  8. I also thought it could be a way to avoid having to testify later on about anything he says... like "don't drag me into your BS... I'm just here to arrest you then I'm done with this case"
  9. could also be a cover your ass thing... if he is talking and not told that again, could that be used against the prosecution? I am sympathetic to the idea that sometimes cops look out for certain perps more than they would others... but not here I don't think. The guy killed his kids. If he had killed a black guy on his property I could see the cops doing that.
  10. That's why Dombrowski was fired.... he kept referring it as our "ball club" when it fact it was an "inc." "We're happy with the acquisition of Joe Nathan. He's a quality player and we think a fine addition to our Inc" Doesn't quite work...
  11. I knew an usher at Comerica park during the playoff runs. His paychecks switched from Detroit Tigers Inc to MLB Baseball or whatever they are called. The league runs the operation in the playoffs. Got a W-2 from them too.
  12. just more proof that if they can do that to a former president they can do it to you
  13. Those two remind of me of certain PTA moms. If you have ever dealt with a PTA you will know. Generally speaking it's women who do all of this, I know some men do too. You'll have those that go to every meeting, makes it all about the kids, etc. Then you get a few who form a pack and make it all about them. They are reliving their HS years. They introduce drama, infighting, etc. Try to cozy up to the administrators to get favors for their kids, like making sure they get a favorite teacher in 6th grade... that kind of thing.
  14. Chas's post in the advice thread made me think of something. We ran into a very old friend of mine over the weekend at a grad party, mutual friend's kid graduated. She was one of my best friends growing up and into our 30s, then life gets in the way and you no longer stay in touch, just running into each other at Target or whatever. I got her number and put it in my phone. Later that evening we text just to establish the connection. My friend has a unique first name but I always put someone's first and last name in my contacts. When she texted me back my wife saw it and started to make fun of me. I told her "So where do you draw the line? Who is granted status of being just "first name only in contact" vs first and last name? What happens if you try to voice text and you have "Jane", "Jane Edmonds" and "Jane Kirkpatrick" and you don't remember who has the status? What do y'all do? The only one in my contact list without a last name is my wife, it's her nickname.
  15. When you have FU money the thrills and satisfaction come in different ways. It's why I would never want all of it. It messes with your brain. If I had a choice between $3 million and $300 million I would take the 5 every time.
  16. When I played fantasy baseball in the late 90's/early 2000's, it was a 5 player keeper league. I snagged Helton right before he got good and was a stud for me for a couple of years.
  17. It’s like Jerry Springer when two women are fighting over some loser who just got out of prison.
  18. I admit I didn't have "doomed woke submarine" on my radical right wing bingo card.
  19. The investigators would have been told to stop and if they resisted they would have been fired and made fun of relentlessly via tweet.
  20. at the game last night when Miggy got his hits, there was obviously extended cheering and all that and I started to think about his final at bats. Assuming he doesn't get hurt and makes it to the end, it will be quite a moment to watch. When you look at the ticket availability for his final few games there's a lot of tickets already sold so I expect a good crowd to give him an ovation. Then there's the pitch clock to ruin it. Maybe he will call time and then the P or C will call time as well? And hopefully there's a gentleman's agreement that he gets nothing but cheese.
  21. "well if they made a deal that means everything was much worse and Biden's DOJ let him get off easier than he should have" Jordan will have hearings on the deal.
  22. All of this talk makes me think of the anecdote "I'll let you know" means "I'm not coming"
  23. I could be wrong but my perception is teams have gotten smarter about trading for "can't miss prospects". Seems like when you trade a prospect for a "veteran" to to speak, it rarely works out that the prospect side wins the trade.
