It’s why I quit political analysis type media. It doesnt matter. The Dems and republicans are now playing in different sports. One side is trying to govern under the old system and the other is simply about grifting. Those that did care about governing on the Republican side are retiring or losing primaries. The two party system as we know it is over. The republic only survives if the Dems hang on to enough seats nationally and locally to prop it up. The Supreme Court cannot be counted on to provide balance. If Trump wins we will start to see political assassinations and nothing will be done. We will have crossed a threshold. In some ways we have already.

I think it was simply a case of not coming to terms yet before the deadline and they have to exchange figures by that deadline, so they did, while still negotiating. The negotiations could have been over the nature of the club option and the salary for 2024 already decided. There could have no animosity or hard feelings beyond simple business between player and org like every situation. Just lawyers not in any big hurry. Fans created the drama because of the arb deadline to exchange figures which in their situation was probably a moot point.

Somewhere in there I get the impression that there that the difference wasn’t over $25K. I don’t know….

At a magazine nobody whining probably bought in 11 years.

yeah they are building a new hotel in Ann Arbor and throwing the SI name up on it as a brand. it stinks but among all the lamenting I see about it I have to ask when the last time anybody bought a magazine?

Yep. Newbies are always welcomed and we engage with them after to see how they liked the class. My son is a building supervisor where this gym is located and spends most of his day dealing with problems.

a bunch of her supporters showed up for a rally/meeting at our civic center before election day last fall and let me tell you... that was quite the rag tag bunch of clowns. You could spot all their cars in the lot by the # of stickers and signs and hand painted slogans. And they all dressed like that old salesman on TV with the question marks on his jacket. They were all over the age of 60 and looked like they do nothing but watch Newsmax and OAN all day long and listen to "patriot" radio. Very pale looking, like no vitamin D. It's a phrase that gets overused but it's very true here... the inmates are running the asylum. That's not a figurative statement. It's literary. The previous crazy ones are now the normal ones in this GOP matchup.

when they find themselves wrapped in the pretzel logic, like running into a fellow Baptist at a liquor store, they just ignore it, pretend it never happened, and move on to bashing gays or blaming women for wearing yoga pants.

You just unlocked some hidden memories. I didn't go to U of M but the whole concept of having 10-15 minutes between classes thing. One semester I thought it would be cool to just go 2 days a week, I commuted to Wayne State. So I had 4 classes on Tue/Thur, same type of setup, around an hour and 40 min each day. But I had them on opposite ends of the campus so I had just enough time to get to each one. Not sure what I did to eat. And this was in January-May. It was fun during the days like we've had this week. And books. We still used books in 1994. That bag was heavy. Carrying that while bundled up builds up a sweat.

People that don't respect start times. I participate in fitness classes 3-4 times a week. Nearly every session you have people showing up 5-10 minutes after the class starts. For newcomers it's more disruptive because they don't know what to do. So the instructor has to stop what they are doing/saying and tell them what they need to prepare. It's not just a random person here or there. It's consistent enough that it's a cultural/societal lack of respect. These are not 'drop in' situations where you can just come in any time during the session and do what you want. They are programmed classes with warmups, etc. It's especially bad for yoga classes. The lights are dimmed, it's peaceful... then here comes someone slamming the door making a bunch of noise. Just total disrespect.

A person can get past a lot of logical flaws when they really want to. Just ignore what you don't like it and push on. They are smart enough to do the required work to get the degree because they are just using that to push a theological agenda and the credentials are a necessary tool.... sort of like youth pastors listening to rock music and watching dirty movies so they could tell us which ones not to 🙂 (A discussion I had in youth group in elementary and middle school which kind of told me they were all full of ****)

For real?

that seems like poor judgement

That's exactly like SNL. Just random cutaways to another familair word.

I don’t see very many people subscribing to Prime or an add on to watch the Tigers or any other team on there. Not yet at least. If one of the teams reaches a level like the Lions right now you will see something. But nobody’s going out of their way for now. Baseball gets the ratings it does because it’s summer and lazy time. You know every night it will be on and it’s there as comfort food when you need it. Baseball has broad but thin appeal. The fans are very casual.

I assume nothing will change for practical purposes except if you don't pay for cable/satellite then you will have an option through Prime. It just bugs me that the local media can't write an article to say such a thing. That's what people want to know. They dont care who owns what or who is paying who, they just want to know "Can I watch the Tigers on the same channel I always do?" Why can't they just say that if it's true and make it easier for readers? Are they so wrapped up in details they don't see the big picture?
-
In the articles I have seen it’s not clear if this means you need a prime subscription or to use their app. What if someone didn’t have a smart TV or Roku or whatever and wasn’t a prime customer yet pays for cable? Can they watch the Tigers like always? The News article says “regional content will remain…” but I don’t know if that means all the non Tigers/Pistons/Wings only or if that’s included.

I think so too.... but only a joke I would make with someone I was close to.

For the same reason I never watched the Sorkin/Jeff Daniels "talk show host" show, I just do not feel drawn to shows about the industry, especially on the news side. I think mentally it's too close to reality and I want my viewing to be an escape from that. Granted I never watched a second of those shows so it's by definition an ignorant take but with so many things to choose from.... I didn't choose those. I'm not interested in watching an avatar of the Murdoch family or Bill O Reilly or Jon Stewart. I started watching Echo and it reminds me of Andor. Street level stuff that's not directly connected to anything else in that universe.

You are right. The tiles were an issue known all along. I mean they were there for a reason and times were replaced after each mission. Each one was hand placed and many had to be specifically cut. In that scenario nobody really did anything wrong. Conspiracy theories abound that leadership knew it was doomed, but like they said in Apollo 12 after being struck by lightning at launch and worrying about the heat shield and chute electronics being fried preventing deployment, “well we would die now or 10 days from now so we might as well do the mission” They were test pilots. Doing “rescues” wasn’t feasible given all the prep work involved in a mission and having consumables onboard the doomed craft to support a crew for the time it would take. For a later mission they did have one setup as contingency. But it would not be easy due to the # of spacesuits required for EVA. I saw an elaborate flowchart showing the sequence between Astros going up and who was already there based on body size. The O rings was a failure by management and politicians rushing missions and not listening to the engineers. Great documentary on Netflix about it. The Apollo guys involved in the investigation were not happy.

I'm surprised they let an Asian looking fella in there.
