SpaceX has a lot to prove with their HLS system before any landings. Artemis II flies by the moon, not going into orbit, not even replicating Apollo 8, but HLS isn't involved in that. The HLS is ambitious. It's not like the Apollo where the lander goes along for the ride. This flies up separately, gets fueled several times in earth orbit, then takes off on it's own towards the moon. Then in lunar orbit the crew will transfer from Orion to the HLS.
