As I often quote PJ O Rourke in 2016 "I think Hillary Clinton is wrong on everything. But she's wrong within normal parameters"
Most of the time politics can be worked out in a middle groud but I think Obama's election did away with that. It also started with Gingrich on a smaller scale but Clinton outsmarted them. But they never forgot. The point of congress after his election became denying the oppostion party's re-election.
If JV coming back is “cost free” then fine. But every team has a budget. Verlander would be the highest paid player on the team unless they extend Skubal.
I hope his son Jack is doing ok. He was such an early advocate for special needs kids. It wasn’t talked about as much thirty years ago but thanks to people like Jim having that courage it is now.
The difference is this call would have been the final out and the next at bat was the final out. You are acknowledging a mistake but not changing anything. You can even keep Donald’s hit in the books. All they have to do is say “yeah it was a perfect game”. This isn’t a legal issue. Nobody can sue. It’s not the Supreme Court. MLB stats are not financial institutions that are audited. They are already imbalanced. I don’t see a “well if you do this then you must do that” scenario.
E60 at 4 pm today is on Galarraga’s non perfect game. Manfred again said no change in plans to place his name on whatever list there is. I think doing something in this case is an easy decision. There’s no butterfly effect since he got the next out. You dont have to do it in other situations.
And I generally go with a “rough” 20% plus a Buck. So for example our Thai food tonight was $61. By “rough 20%” I mentally go “20% of 60 is 12, add a buck so it’s $13” and I write the bill out for $74 plus the cents.
I like the general principle I have seen lately where if I am expected to tip before I get my food and/or if I am ordering and paying standing up…. Little to no tip.
