  1. DeSantis and his cronies will play dirty trying to prevent any unfavorable results from becoming official. That's what worries me the most in this election cycle. Too many times in the process things get certified by previously anonymous civil servants and at some point that machine will break and we'll see challenges, unfounded, and bad actors.
  2. I think other teams are pretty smart too and have also gotten better at evaluating prospects over the last 15 years especially, which makes the prospect for ML talent deals rarer, maybe I'm wrong but I don't think we see them as often today as we used to. I reject that they can acquire a good young player at will as you suggest. The other team has to be willing to give that player to the Tigers and the only reason they'd do so is if the Tigers had something to offer to make them want to do that. And if the Tigers had something to offer then why are they making the deal? It takes two orgs to agree on a trade and overall fans think their own teams have the upper hand and can make trades like it's a video game. Who in the system should the Tigers have moved to get a good player?
  3. Is the help they are getting the result of “socialism”?
  4. I’m still haven’t been convinced by anyone the last year or so who exactly Harris should have signed or traded for (and with that?). There isn’t a GM store with items you need. You can’t trade a lot of crap for something mediocre.
  5. Adduci runs the commisioner's office. He has things worked out just the way he wants. All these legit companies are just props for his real action.
  6. High qualty players like Phil Mickelson, Jordan, and Tiger Woods get a high from gambling that is probably the same trigger that made them so good what they do. It's not difficult to imagine some MLB players having the same thing. It's just a matter of time.
  7. I think yes... unless the return makes the major league team better. I don't think he's going to be flipping guys for prospects anymore. No more Daz Camerons.
  8. The think these kids just like those scarves.... that's whey they are doing it. They can wear those. It's like soccer fans. They care more about telling us they are soccer fans than they do about just enjoying their 1-0 game.
  9. Got hosed on that call.
  10. Maeda taken out with injury Welp. At least it’s scoreless.
  11. I was a wrestling fan in the early and mid 80's so I knew about them. Right around when David died is when I started watching. They would show that particular outfit on ESPN and I got the magazines. The movie was really good. My wife enjoyed it too, she is a fan of Jeremy Allen White and was immediately roped into the story. They did a good job telling it from that angle and not just make it a wrestling movie. The scenes in the ring were just long enough to tell the point without dragging it on. As with most stories about real things they changed some things, but Kevin was ok with it. They are not making a documentary. There was a younger son they completely left out, Chris. He also committed suicide. And the timelines were a little off. Kerry didn't lose his foot until a few years after winning the title. And he was married and had kids. He developed a painkiller addiction after his accident and was facing jail time over a second arrest, that's what prompted the suicide. The only thing I wish could be different in the movie, which is nobody's fault, is White was too short for Kerry. It matters somewhat because he was towering and rumor is if Vince McMahon couldn't get Hulk HOgan to lead his expansion he was going to use Kerry because he had the Adonis look. But it's hard to find guys who can act, have the body, and be able to do what's needed in the ring so it's not a big deal. But he had a presence in the ring that was pretty large. I never knew about his foot until his WWF days in like 1991. They kept it a secret. He'd shower with his boots on so the other guys didn't know.
  12. Only if he gets a good ML player in return.
  13. I also remember going from a 300 to 600 baud modem... maybe even a 1200. That is what got me hooked on message boards. There were "sites" you could call and trade games and some hosted boards. In the spring of 1990 somebody went on a collecting kick and bought all of my equipment for around $300. I had to work as a kid for all of my stuff but with baseball season coming up I wouldn't be able to so that financed my spring. Later on a relative had their old C64 in storage and I got it up and running and was able to play some of the old games. Then it crapped out and I threw it away in a purge. I still get a kick out of messing around with some emulators and there's youtube videos going through the games. Maniac Mansion baby!
  14. In 1988 a friend of mine traded a 10MB external hard drive to someone for 4 Iron Maiden CD's. Growing up I had a C-64 and in 1992 I bought a 40 MB 386 system for about $800.
  15. I’m think Gardenhire is as all marketing. The team will suck so let’s get someone to fake legitimacy.
  16. This the COVID thread?
  17. Going to the Masonic tonight to see these folks....
  18. Just drove by it 5 minutes ago after getting a haircut. There's also the house across the street with pro Biden/Dem signs. They go back and forth. I did hear that the Trump guy is a very nice man.
  19. When it comes to managers I go by what the players say. Especially Sparky it seems like his guys really admired him. Fryman named his son George and Tram and Gibby talk him up a lot. Managers don't teach them to play. But that role has changed over the years as we have more analytics and the players have gotten "bigger". Before I think a big part of their job was on the babysitting side of things. Curfews, rules, etc. Now the players are their own corporations and know how to take care of themselves, millions of dollars are at stake, and they have agents and handlers.
  20. No. But if one of these nutjobs gets run over by someone, anyone, trying to get into the medical facility, then the tragedy is on them and them alone. Their little cosplay games cannot interfere with people's lives. They are rotten spoiled punks that need a job or something to occupy their feeble minds.
  21. Jim Leyland said once the game starts that managing pitchers was the primary job of a manager and that managing in the AL was always harder than the NL because in the NL those decisions were often made for you due to when the P came up in the battine lineup. That always stuck with me because of the old conventional wisdom that managing in the NL was harder.
  22. Yep. I was addicted to it then around 2006 or so I moved from regular to diet, then quit diet. I lost about 10 pounds immediately after Coke then another 10 after Diet. I was consuming maybe 40 ounces a day. The only time I have it now, which is very rare, would be in a mixed drink at something like a wedding. After a 10 mile race last September downtown I couldn't find a post race water but my wife gave me a coke, took one sip, and my body composition after 10 miles in 75 degree sunny weather in the afternoon didn't agree. It tasted awful.
  23. back in 2019 we visited family in Dallas. We went to Six Flags. This was in July. From the top of one of hte rides you can see this stadium, along with the Cowboys place. We made it thru Six Flags in about 3 hours, we asked if it's always that dead and they said "In July nobody comes out here except tourists".
  24. He was driving his wife to the doctor for a worsening medical condition then spends two days in jail while the nation laughs at him. Life can be cruel sometimes.
