  1. Yeah I wasn't really going after you. I have the Flipowskis and Rupars of the world blocked.
  2. Don McEachern, D-VA, died. If current races hold, that moves the chamber from 222-213 to 222-212. If things were closer, like they were looking for a bit, each of those vacancies, special elections, timing of the special elections, would loom large.
  3. I think you would find that guy in Jake Cave.
  4. How hilarious would this be if this was Scott Plies's burner.
  5. Well, I can tell you the reporter on the byline is far from a right wing MAGA person with pronouns on her Twitter and many tweets advocating for the trans community, satirizing the republican mayor. That station also has produced an anchor who ran for congress as a Democrat and still employs her husband, and is aligned with the local newspaper that has frequent scathing editorials against DeSantis and Trump.
  6. Man, it sure seems like every tweet that shows up in this thread is from somebody I blocked or muted. MTG, for as batshit as she is, only benefits when she gets amplified by people mocking her. Block/ignore and let her flail away. Promote the boring hard working politicians who are actually trying to solve problems and that behavior will be incentivized.
  7. I'm not a Python fan. The people who quote it in falsetto British accents annoy me.
  8. 9. I may have to start a thread on some of the goingson in Jacksonville of late.
  10. It means you can make it 40% of a players valuation instead of 10%. It is impractical to just not acquire anybody with strike zone issues.
  11. Not really anywhere. I just don't think people are understanding the front office processes. Harris isn't some czar that took over. Most of the same people are empowered, using the same information.
  12. "We need to add right-handed OF" is a lot more political than saying "Victor Reyes is sub-replacement level and we don't want to use a 40-man spot on him." Over-parsing the few media availabilities and judging based on three weeks of the offseason, the three weeks that are most often used for pruning, is ridiculous.
  13. What information is he using to make that final call?
  14. Y'all do realize that Harris's job is mostly hiring and managing front office personnel and processes, right?
  15. You don't acquire his brother if he isn't in the plans.
  16. Ding ding ding ding... Also hinted Parker Meadows has similar issues and points to data that's been provided to them that isn't public. That supercedes fluffy video clips tweeted out for engagement.
  17. Damn. A couple weeks ago we could have solved the problem, but now we can't, since it is too soon to politicize it and all.
  18. Some good nuggets about some of the Tigers 40 man adds in here. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/40-man-deadline-analysis-al-central/
  19. For clarification, the one filing the suit was fired after last season, prior to Harris. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2022/11/21/fired-clubhouse-manager-sues-tigers-alleging-racial-discrimination/69668393007/
  20. For reference on mechanics. https://www.npr.org/2021/02/04/963785609/house-to-vote-on-stripping-rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-from-2-key-committees
  21. The series the NYT did on gambling yesterday was really good. Members of the Athletic promoting it is hypocritical at best, given their gambling partnerships.
  22. The main reason for excess non-tenders this year (i.e. the four pre-arb guys) has to do with the day being moved way up within the DFA period of the Rule 5 Protection day. A lot more players got non-tendered this year that may not have in the past. I wouldn't read much more into the increase this year.
  23. That would be tough to attain. I was able to get hard copies of the 1995-2000 Tigers Media guides on the cheap several years ago, which was my source for a lot of things. Archived baseball coverage of that era is very lacking, and the BR database is spotty (plus the rules changes make it tough to ID non-tenders before the 1997 CBA).
  24. Apropos of nothing, I compiled the list of Tigers non-tenders dating back to 1990. Data pre-1995 is spotty. Year Player 2022 Jeimer Candelario 2022 Harold Castro 2022 Willi Castro 2022 Brendon Davis 2022 Miguel Diaz 2022 Kyle Funkhouser 2022 Michael Papierski 2021 Matthew Boyd 2021 Grayson Greiner 2018 Alex Wilson 2018 James McCann 2017 Bruce Rondon 2015 Neftali Feliz 2015 Al Alburquerque 2012 Daniel Schlereth 2011 Will Rhymes 2010 Zach Miner 2008 Aquilino Lopez 2007 Chad Durbin 2006 Alexis Gomez 2004 Eric Munson 2003 Ben Petrick 2003 Andy Van Hekken 2002 Robert Fick 2002 Julio Santana 2001 Deivi Cruz 1997 Bob Hamelin 1997 Fernando Hernandez 1994 Junior Felix 1994 Gene Harris 1994 Mike Gardiner 1994 Chad Kreuter 1993 Bob MacDonald 1993 Gary Thurman 1992 Mark Carreon 1991 Andy Allanson 1991 Johnny Paredes 1990 Lance McCullers
